Test the full start-to-end loop in the preview before making the event public. The video runs on your computer, so OBS depends on that computer staying powered on and connected to the internet.
Before you set up the stream
Check the promotion and its rights
Use a local video file you are authorized to stream, including its music, voiceover, product imagery, and footage. Check that every price, offer date, stock condition, and term shown is still accurate for the campaign. The available platform guidance does not establish India-specific advertising, food-labeling, consumer-protection, tax, or music-rights requirements; have the campaign reviewed through your normal compliance process.
Confirm YouTube Live eligibility
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Its guidance also sets a minimum age of 16 for live streaming. If live streaming has not been enabled on the channel, allow time to complete YouTube’s setup; the activation timetable is not established here. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
Create the YouTube Live event

In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and choose the encoder workflow to create or schedule the promotion.

Enter the event details and choose its visibility and schedule. Keep the event in preview while you test OBS.

Copy the stream key and the server or ingest details provided by YouTube into your encoder setup. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your channel’s ingest endpoint. Do not show it on screen or share it publicly.
YouTube recommends RTMPS where available. Current encoder guidance covers RTMP/RTMPS, H.264, H.265, or AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, frame rates up to 60 fps, and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. For the applicable recommendations and settings, see YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
Build a looping scene in OBS

Open OBS and create or select the scene you will use for the promotion.

Add the local promotional video as a media source or use a playlist-capable source. A secondary how-to describes using OBS’s VLC Video source to add files and enable loop or shuffle. OBS labels and controls can vary by installed version, so check the source properties in your build and confirm the playlist repeats rather than stopping after the final file.

Set the source to start as intended and size it to fit the canvas. Watch for black bars, cropping, or small offer text; adjust the scene layout if necessary.

If the promotion includes sound, check that the intended audio source is active and that the meter responds during playback. Avoid leaving unrelated desktop or microphone audio in the scene.
The source must be a file available to OBS on the computer. This workflow does not loop a YouTube-hosted video URL inside OBS. OBS’s official resource hub links to its Knowledge Base and Quick Start Guide; the exact playlist and loop controls described above should be verified in the installed version.

Set OBS output for your upload connection
Choose a resolution and frame rate that keep prices and offer terms readable without exceeding what your upload connection can sustain steadily. YouTube’s current H.264 examples are:

These are YouTube’s recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular ISP or connection in India can sustain the bitrate. Use a speed test, leave headroom for normal network variation, and test under conditions similar to the planned stream. A stable upload matters more than selecting the highest resolution. YouTube also transcodes incoming live video for viewer playback, so the source quality sent by OBS and the quality received by each viewer are not necessarily identical.

Use RTMPS if available, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds.

Select a YouTube-supported video and audio codec. H.264 with AAC is a practical supported combination.

Choose 720p30 or 1080p30 as a starting point for a modest promotion, then confirm legibility and stability in preview. YouTube’s figures above are the cited H.264 bitrate guidance for those formats.
Connect OBS, test the entire loop, and go public

In OBS, open Settings and the stream configuration, select YouTube or the appropriate custom RTMP service, then enter the server and stream key from the Live Control Room. Exact labels may vary with the OBS version and connection method. Keep the key private.

Start streaming from OBS while the YouTube event remains in preview. Wait for the preview picture and stream-health status to appear.

Watch the promotion from its beginning through the end and back to the beginning. Confirm that the source does not stop, go blank, or leave a gap you do not want viewers to see. A working preview does not by itself prove that the repeat boundary behaves correctly.

Check that product names, prices, dates, and terms are readable; listen for clear audio and an appropriate level; and inspect YouTube’s stream-health messages. Test with audio and movement similar to the actual event, as YouTube recommends.

When the preview and health status are satisfactory, start the public event in YouTube Studio/Live Control Room. Keep an operator available to watch stream health and audio and, where relevant, respond to chat or customer questions.

You cannot start the event: Check channel verification and whether the channel has a live-streaming restriction in the last 90 days. Complete any required live-stream setup in YouTube Studio.

YouTube shows no preview: Confirm OBS is streaming, the selected server and stream key match the event, and the event is open in the encoder workflow. Re-enter the key privately if needed.

The stream is unstable or health warnings appear: Check the measured upload speed and stability, reduce the output bitrate or resolution, and test again. Do not assume a brief speed-test result guarantees a sustained live upload.

The video stops at the end or leaves a blank screen: Reopen the source’s properties and verify its loop or playlist setting in your installed OBS version. Test through the complete end-to-start boundary before going public.

The offer text is hard to read: Check the source fit and canvas scaling, then preview on an appropriate screen. If the upload cannot sustain 1080p30 reliably, try a lower resolution while ensuring essential terms remain legible.

Viewers cannot hear the promotion: Verify that the video’s audio is enabled and that OBS’s audio meter moves during playback; confirm the preview has sound before starting the public event.
