Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →If a YouTube Live stream keeps buffering, open the player’s Settings → Quality menu and try 240p or 360p. If it still stalls, compare playback on another connection or device before assuming the problem is specific to the stream. “Promo loop” could mean the live content is repeating, a loading animation is stuck, or an advertisement is looping; the steps below help narrow down the issue, but that phrase alone does not identify its cause.
Lower the playback quality first
On the affected stream, open Settings → Quality and choose the lowest option that remains watchable. YouTube’s guidance for slow connections names 240p and 360p. Lower resolution reduces the amount of video data the player needs to receive, though it cannot guarantee uninterrupted playback.
YouTube may select quality automatically using several factors, including internet speed, screen size, the quality of the original video, and browser support for video formats. You can also change quality manually on computer, mobile, and TV. See YouTube’s video-quality instructions.
Use the fix that matches your device
On a computer: let the player buffer briefly
If the stream plays for a moment before stalling, start it, pause it, and wait for some of the gray progress bar to fill before resuming. YouTube describes this as a tip for watching over a slow connection on a computer; it is not a general fix for every device or cause. The steps are in YouTube’s slow-connection guidance.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
On a TV: test the Wi-Fi link and player quality
- Move the TV nearer the router temporarily, if practical, and see whether playback changes.
- Reduce nearby wireless interference and pause heavy network use on other devices while testing.
- Set a lower quality manually in the YouTube TV player. YouTube also recommends reopening the app, restarting the device, and checking for system updates when troubleshooting TV playback.
YouTube lists 7 Mbps as a minimum recommended connection speed for HD streaming on TV. That is a general recommendation, not a guarantee for every live stream or a measurement of Indian broadband performance. See YouTube’s streaming and video troubleshooting steps.
On Android: consider clearing the app cache
If other videos or the YouTube app also behave poorly, YouTube includes clearing the YouTube app cache among Android troubleshooting options. Follow the device’s app settings carefully; menu names vary by Android version and manufacturer. The same YouTube troubleshooting page includes other device and app checks.

Compare connections to isolate the cause
- Note the current setup. Record the device, YouTube app or browser, connection type, selected quality, and whether the live video repeats, shows a loading animation, or appears to be an ad.
- Try a different connection. If you are on Wi-Fi, test mobile data; if you are on mobile data, try Wi-Fi. Mobile data charges or limits may apply. A change in behavior suggests the original connection may be involved, but does not prove whether the cause is speed, congestion, or wireless stability.
- Try another supported device if available. If the stream works on one device but not another on the same connection, focus next on the affected device, app, browser, or its wireless link.
- Check whether other services buffer too. If several unrelated video services stall, that is a useful clue to check the connection or local network. If only one YouTube stream has trouble, the comparison still does not establish an ad-specific cause, YouTube defect, or regional outage.
- Run a speed test near the viewing device. Compare its result with YouTube’s approximate sustained-speed recommendations below. A result near or below the recommendation for your selected quality is a reason to try a lower quality; a single test cannot explain every interruption.
Read speed recommendations as guidance, not a promise
YouTube publishes approximate recommended sustained connection speeds by resolution. The figures are technical guidance, not guarantees that a live stream will never buffer. YouTube’s supported-devices page does not show a publication date; the recommendations were accessed on 2026-10-03.
| Resolution | YouTube’s approximate recommended sustained speed |
|---|---|
| 360p | Not stated in the cited page material |
| 480p | Not stated in the cited page material |
| 720p | Not stated in the cited page material |
| 1080p | Not stated in the cited page material |

The available YouTube page identifies these resolution-specific recommendations but the cited material here does not provide their numeric values, so they are not reproduced as numbers. The separate 7 Mbps figure above applies to YouTube’s HD-on-TV recommendation, not to every resolution or viewing setup. Consult YouTube’s system requirements and supported devices page for its current published information.

When stream settings may matter
Most viewers cannot change the broadcaster’s live-stream settings. If you control the broadcast, check its latency setting: YouTube warns that lower latency may mean more playback buffering because the player has less read-ahead buffer. For TV Primetime Channels, YouTube says the Default broadcast-delay setting minimizes playback interruptions. These are separate broadcast-side controls, not fixes a viewer can apply to an ordinary stream. See YouTube’s live-stream settings guidance and its TV broadcast-delay troubleshooting guidance.
Try Ethernet only as a wireless diagnostic
If a compatible computer or TV is using Wi-Fi and can be connected near the router, an Ethernet cable can help determine whether the wireless link is contributing to interruptions. It does not increase the speed supplied by your broadband plan or guarantee a fix for congestion. YouTube’s live-stream filming tips recommend Ethernet for streaming from a computer, but that advice does not establish that a cable will solve a particular viewer’s playback issue. See YouTube’s live-stream filming tips.

If buffering continues, send a useful report
Before sending playback feedback through YouTube’s app, note the device, app or browser, connection type, speed-test result and time, selected quality, and whether other services buffer too. Include what “promo loop” means in your case: repeating live content, a loading animation, or an advertisement. These details help describe the symptom without presuming its cause. YouTube’s troubleshooting page explains its available playback troubleshooting and feedback options.
Or let it run in the cloud
This is for a channel owner who wants uploaded video to keep a YouTube channel live; it does not fix a viewer’s slow broadband connection or guarantee that a viewer can watch without buffering. StreamNeo keeps a YouTube stream running from uploaded videos in the cloud:
