Set it up in a browser, then choose Streamlabs from Xbox’s live-streaming options. Streamlabs says this workflow does not require a PC or capture card. Its FAQ does not list PlayStation or Nintendo Switch support.
What Streamlabs Console does—and which consoles it supports
Streamlabs Console lets you configure a Twitch broadcast in a browser and route an Xbox stream through Streamlabs. It adds viewer-facing elements such as overlays, alerts, and widgets. The setup can be done on a mobile device, desktop computer, or laptop; those devices are used to configure the service, not as required streaming hardware.
Streamlabs’ FAQ identifies Xbox as the supported console for Console and does not list PlayStation or Switch. For PlayStation, Streamlabs’ comparison describes the built-in Broadcast feature or streaming software paired with a capture card as alternatives. Do not assume the Xbox Console workflow transfers to another console.
What you need before setup
- An Xbox and a Twitch account to connect to Streamlabs Console.
- A browser on a mobile device, desktop computer, or laptop to configure the account, overlays, and widgets.
- For audio, a headset with an integrated microphone plugged directly into the Xbox controller, which is the microphone arrangement specified in Streamlabs’ FAQ.
- Optionally, a USB webcam connected to the Xbox or a mobile device used as a webcam.
- Xbox cloud broadcasting enabled. Streamlabs’ Xbox live-settings update dated June 13, 2026 identifies this as a requirement for the Console destination to appear.
Streamlabs says a PC and capture card are not required for this workflow. Its FAQ describes separate external microphone support as intended for a future release, so do not plan on a standalone external mic as a currently supported Console setup based on that guidance.

How to set up Streamlabs Console on Xbox
- Connect Twitch in a browser. Open Streamlabs Console and connect the Twitch account you want to use. Streamlabs says setup is possible from a phone, desktop, or laptop.
- Configure scenes and widgets before going live. Add overlays and customize the available widgets through your Streamlabs account. Streamlabs says widget settings are managed from the account’s widgets dashboard; themes can apply a design to alerts, Chat Box, and recent events.
- Start your game on Xbox. Open the Xbox button menu, then go to Capture & Share > Live streaming.
- Choose Streamlabs as the destination. Sign into Twitch using the available Xbox options, open More options, and select Streamlabs. Set audio, resolution, overlay, and stream name as appropriate, then select Go Live now.
- Return to the game and manage the broadcast. Streamlabs’ getting-started guide says scenes can be controlled through Streamlabs Console after the broadcast starts. The June 13, 2026 Xbox update says broadcast status appears in Live streaming; select Stop live stream there to end it.
Streamlabs’ getting-started guide, last updated December 12, 2025, lists supported outputs of 1080p30 and 720p30 and recommends a 3500 bitrate in the Twitch app. Those are the vendor’s published guide settings, not independently tested recommendations, and current menu labels or availability may differ as Xbox and Streamlabs change.
Overlays, widgets, scenes, and Auto Live
Alerts and widgets
Streamlabs Console can put Streamlabs alerts and overlays on the Twitch broadcast. The FAQ names Chat Box, Event List, and Stream Labels among its widgets. Configure their settings from the Streamlabs account’s widgets dashboard before streaming.

Scenes and artwork
Multiple scenes are supported. Streamlabs says default artwork is provided for Starting Soon, Be Right Back, and Stream Ending Soon, and custom images can be uploaded.
Auto Live
With Auto Live enabled, pressing Go Live in the Twitch app starts the stream. With Auto Live disabled, start the broadcast manually from Streamlabs Console.

Webcam and microphone
A webcam is optional: Streamlabs lists a USB webcam connected to Xbox or a mobile device used as a webcam. For microphone audio, its FAQ specifies a headset with an integrated microphone connected directly to the Xbox controller.
Resolution, bitrate, and destination limits
The setup guide’s stated Console output options are 1080p30 and 720p30, with a recommended 3500 bitrate in the Twitch app. These figures come from Streamlabs’ guide last updated December 12, 2025; they should not be treated as a guarantee of the best setting for every connection or as independently verified current limits.

The Console FAQ explains the Twitch setup. A separate Streamlabs multistream guide updated July 8, 2026 describes Xbox multistreaming to Twitch, YouTube, Kick, and TikTok. That is a distinct feature and should not be mistaken for the destinations specified in the Console FAQ’s setup explanation.

- Streamlabs is not listed as a destination: Confirm Xbox cloud broadcasting is enabled, then return to Capture & Share > Live streaming > More options and look for Streamlabs. The cloud-broadcasting requirement appears in Streamlabs’ update dated June 13, 2026.
- Twitch sign-in or account connection fails: Check that the Twitch account is connected in Streamlabs Console and follow the available Xbox sign-in flow. Streamlabs’ reviewed materials do not specify a separate recovery sequence for authentication failures; contact Streamlabs Support if sign-in still fails.
- Audio is missing: Verify the headset’s integrated microphone is plugged directly into the Xbox controller, the connection specified by Streamlabs’ FAQ. The FAQ does not establish standalone external microphone support as currently available.
- You cannot find the broadcast controls: Open Xbox’s Capture & Share > Live streaming menu. Streamlabs’ June 2026 update identifies that menu as the place to view broadcast status and stop a live stream.
- You are using PlayStation or Switch: Streamlabs’ FAQ does not identify Console support for those systems. For PlayStation, Streamlabs’ comparison points to the built-in Broadcast feature or streaming software with a capture card; these are different workflows.
When to choose another console streaming route
For a supported Xbox workflow that needs Streamlabs overlays without a PC or capture card, Console is the direct fit. Native console broadcasting is described in Streamlabs’ older console guide as simpler and more cost-effective, but more limited in on-stream overlays and alerts. A PC-and-capture-device route can run Streamlabs Desktop overlays and widgets, with added hardware and setup complexity. The appropriate choice depends on console compatibility, how much on-screen customization you need, and whether you want to add streaming hardware.
Plan terms and how to verify them
Streamlabs’ FAQ dated September 5, 2025 listed Console at $11 USD monthly or $79.99 USD annually, a seven-day free trial, and inclusion with Streamlabs Ultra. These are dated vendor statements, not guaranteed current checkout terms. Check Streamlabs’ current account or checkout pages before subscribing.
