An old Android TV box may serve as a playback source, but YouTube’s documented live-streaming workflows do not establish that a TV box can capture its own app playback, encode it, and broadcast it continuously. For a dependable, documented route, use a separate computer or hardware encoder with a compatible capture path—and only rebroadcast material you have the rights to use. If your goal is to loop videos rather than stream the box’s playback, a cloud service such as StreamNeo is a separate option; it plays uploaded videos, not a live feed from the TV box.
What an Android TV box can—and cannot be assumed to do
Playing a video and broadcasting a live stream are different jobs. YouTube’s encoder workflow uses streaming software or hardware: the encoder takes a production feed, converts it for streaming, and sends it to YouTube using the server URL and stream key. Google’s Android mobile live-streaming documentation describes a camera-and-microphone broadcast from a mobile device. It does not establish that an Android TV box can capture playback from its own apps, encode that output, or send it to YouTube.
That distinction matters even if the box runs Android or has a YouTube app. A device that can play YouTube is not necessarily capable of capturing and retransmitting that playback. No capability, sustained performance, heat behavior, or reliability can be assumed for an unspecified box model.
Option 1: Try the box alone only if it has a supported broadcast path
Check the exact model, operating system, and app documentation for an explicitly supported way to capture the intended output, encode it, and send it to YouTube. Do not treat an app that plays video, or a casting feature, as proof that the box can originate a YouTube Live stream. If the documentation does not establish the full workflow, consider the box-only route unverified.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Option 2: Use the box as a source for a separate encoder
If the box outputs content that can lawfully be captured, a possible architecture is to route its output through compatible capture hardware into a computer or standalone encoder. The encoder—not the capture card alone—then sends the production feed to YouTube. Compatibility depends on the particular box, output, capture device, and source; output protection may also prevent capture. Neither a capture card nor an encoder gives you permission to rebroadcast the material.
This is an architecture to check, not a tested guarantee for any particular Android TV box. Before buying hardware, confirm that the source can be captured, that the capture device works with the encoder, and that the content’s rights allow live retransmission.

- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Set up the separate YouTube encoder path
YouTube’s encoder method is the documented route when you have a production feed to send. The encoder may be software on a computer or a hardware encoder. Exact menu names vary by encoder, so follow its current setup guide for the controls that correspond to the YouTube server URL and stream key.
- Confirm the channel can go live. YouTube says the channel must be verified, have had no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. First-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of a planned launch. See YouTube Help’s “Get started with live streaming” and “Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder” guidance.
- Prepare a lawful production feed. Connect the compatible capture device to the encoder computer or standalone encoder, if you are using a TV box. Check that the intended video and audio arrive correctly. If capture is blocked or the source is not authorized for retransmission, stop and choose content and a workflow you are permitted to use.
- Create or schedule the live stream in YouTube Live Control Room. Use the stream’s controls to obtain the server URL and stream key. Treat the key as a password: do not publish it, show it on screen, or send it to anyone who does not need access.
- Enter the YouTube connection details in the encoder. Paste the server URL and stream key into the encoder’s YouTube or custom RTMP destination settings, then select the correct production input. YouTube’s encoder guide describes this URL-and-key workflow; the labels in your encoder may differ.
- Start the encoder and check the live preview. Confirm that the picture and sound are present and that YouTube receives the feed before directing viewers to the stream. Use Live Control Room to monitor and manage the broadcast.
- Test the intended duration and recovery plan. A brief successful test does not establish that a particular box, capture path, or encoder will stay up continuously. Check the complete setup for interruptions and decide how you will restore it if the source, capture device, computer, network, or YouTube connection stops.
Set the audience correctly for children’s programming
The channel owner is responsible for marking content Made for Kids when it is directed to children. That can apply even when children are not the only or primary audience if the material is still child-directed. Make the decision based on the actual programming and intended audience—not because the video is on a TV box, or because it is described as family-friendly. YouTube’s “Set your channel or video’s audience” guidance explains the audience setting.

Made for Kids changes which features are available. YouTube lists restrictions that include live chat and live-chat donations, comments, notifications, personalized advertising, Super Chat, and Super Stickers. YouTube says contextual ads may still appear, but personalized ads are not served on kids content. Do not assume ordinary live-chat features or personalized-ad revenue will be available.
If children appear on camera, YouTube says streams with minors under 16 who are not visibly accompanied by an adult may be removed or have live chat disabled. A stream that matches another copyrighted live broadcast can also trigger restrictions. Review YouTube Help’s “Avoid restrictions on YouTube live streaming” guidance before broadcasting.

Rights, looping, monetization, and archives
Get permission for everything in the feed
YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the provider to have the rights needed for worldwide use of live content, including applicable music rights; archived content is also covered. Owning the Android TV box, subscribing to an app, or being able to watch a public video does not by itself establish permission to retransmit it. Clear the rights for video, music, and other material before putting it into a live feed.
A continuous loop is not a promise of monetization
YouTube’s monetization policy update dated July 15, 2025 renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced content is ineligible under the existing rules. The policy applies to live streams as well as other video formats. A simple loop therefore risks failing monetization review; that does not mean every continuous stream is automatically prohibited. Originality and substantive variation matter, and no revenue outcome should be assumed.

Plan around YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not represent a 24-hour feed as one reliably archived 24-hour replay. If a complete replay matters, plan a separate lawful recording and retention workflow rather than relying on a single continuous live archive.

| Path | What it can do | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Android TV box alone | May play video; the documented YouTube and Google guidance cited above does not establish TV-box playback capture and live encoding. | Exact model and app support for capture, encoding, and YouTube transmission; sustained operation; rights to the source. |
| TV box plus capture hardware and separate encoder | Can be a possible source-to-encoder architecture if the output is compatible and lawfully capturable. | Capture compatibility and any output protection; encoder support; recovery after interruptions; rights to rebroadcast. |
| StreamNeo cloud service for uploaded videos | Loops uploaded videos to a YouTube channel from the cloud; it does not broadcast the TV box’s live playback. | Whether prerecorded uploads, rather than the box’s output, meet your intended format and rights obligations. |
YouTube’s encoder directory also names Gyre as a cloud-based option for continuous streams of prerecorded videos. That identifies another possible architecture for prerecorded material; it does not show that Gyre can use an Android TV box as a source or establish its current suitability for a particular channel. Verify current service details directly before choosing it.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your real goal is to keep uploaded children’s videos looping on YouTube, rather than broadcast what is currently playing on the TV box, StreamNeo is a distinct cloud option. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops those uploaded videos from the cloud; it does not go live from a camera or take the Android TV box’s playback as its feed.
- Nothing at home has to stay on to keep the cloud stream running.
- Videos stream as uploaded, at any quality up to 4K 60fps, for one flat price per slot.
- StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free, with no card required.
The Monthly price is $9.99 per month. The service is for YouTube; it does not solve permissions, Made for Kids settings, or monetization eligibility. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start the free day.
Quick Recap
Common problems and what to check
- The TV box plays video, but YouTube never receives a stream: Playback alone is not an encoder. Confirm that the box has a documented capture-and-broadcast capability; otherwise use a compatible capture path and separate encoder, or switch to an uploaded-video cloud workflow.
- The capture device shows a blank or blocked picture: Check device and source compatibility and whether output protection prevents capture. Do not attempt to bypass protection; use a source you are authorized and able to capture.
- YouTube will not accept the live stream: Check that live streaming is enabled, the channel meets YouTube’s eligibility conditions, and the encoder has the correct server URL and current stream key. If this is the channel’s first live stream, activation may take up to 24 hours.
- The stream starts, then stops: The available platform guidance does not establish uninterrupted performance for a specific TV box or capture setup. Check each link in the chain—source playback, capture hardware, encoder, power, and network—and test the recovery procedure before relying on a long broadcast.
- Chat or other audience features are missing: Check the Made for Kids designation and YouTube’s live-stream restrictions. Some features are unavailable on streams designated Made for Kids.
- A stream is not archived as expected: YouTube’s automatic archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours; do not count on a 24-hour broadcast being saved as one complete replay.
- A monetization review raises concerns about repetition: Review YouTube’s inauthentic-content rules. A repeated loop can pose a monetization risk; do not assume that simply keeping a stream live makes repetitive content eligible.
