Bengali does not need a special video codec: use a supported stream setup such as H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), and AAC audio, while keeping caption text in Unicode and plain UTF-8. This guide treats “always-on” as a continuous YouTube Live stream from a scheduled program or looped playlist—not an ordinary video upload.
Choose a stream source and encoding baseline
You need a stable program source, such as a scheduled show or looped playlist, and an encoder that can send it to YouTube. The exact hardware and network setup depends on your operation. For a straightforward starting point, YouTube’s encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS ingestion, H.264 video, AAC audio, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval; it also lists H.265/HEVC and AV1 video and frame rates up to 60 fps. Use a combination supported by both your encoder and the YouTube ingestion route. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension of RTMP. YouTube Live encoder settings.
Pick resolution and bitrate to fit the connection
The figures below are YouTube’s published H.264 ingest guidance, not a promise of picture quality or a universal upload-speed target. YouTube recommends running an upload speed test and checking the actual stream. As practical operating advice, leave additional network capacity beyond the encoded bitrate so ordinary variation does not immediately consume all available bandwidth.

Choose 720p if it is the more dependable fit for the available upload capacity or encoding resources; choose 1080p when the source detail and sustained connection justify it. Higher resolution is not automatically better if the connection cannot maintain the required stream.

Set keyframes and audio
Set the keyframe interval to two seconds where the encoder exposes the setting, and do not exceed four seconds, in line with YouTube’s guidance. Use CBR for the simple baseline and AAC audio. YouTube also lists MP3 audio as supported. The right audio bitrate and channel layout depend on the program; check the encoder and YouTube settings rather than assuming one value suits every stream.
Test and monitor a continuous stream
Encoder settings alone cannot guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 operation. Before scheduling a long run, rehearse with representative motion and audio, then confirm that YouTube is receiving the feed and monitor the Live Control Room’s stream-health messages. YouTube’s diagnostics include video starvation, when too little video data arrives for smooth streaming, and keyframe/GOP intervals that are too long. See the YouTube Live API stream diagnostics.

- Test the same source, resolution, frame rate, and bitrate intended for the show.
- Check that the encoder reports a stable connection and that YouTube receives data.
- Watch stream-health alerts during the rehearsal and correct the reported issue before relying on the feed.
- Plan separately for power, network, source, and restart failures. Recovery and redundancy depend on the operator’s equipment and service arrangement; the encoder recommendations do not prescribe a complete unattended failover system.
Keep Bangla captions and on-screen text intact
Video encoding and Bangla text encoding are separate layers. A valid H.264 or other supported video stream can still display broken captions if the text file or rendering path mishandles Bengali characters.
For selectable captions, use Unicode and UTF-8
Create SRT or SBV captions as plain UTF-8, with correctly timed text, then upload them through YouTube’s caption workflow. YouTube notes that basic SRT and SBV files do not support recognized style markup. See YouTube caption file guidance.

The Unicode Consortium identifies the script as Bengali (Bangla), in the U+0980–U+09FF block. Some vowel letters that look visually composite are encoded as single Unicode characters, so do not replace them with manually assembled decompositions. Refer to Unicode Standard Version 16.0.
For text burned into the picture, test the renderer
Burned-in captions become part of the video image, so viewers cannot toggle them off or edit their presentation. Use a font with Bangla glyph coverage and a subtitle renderer capable of the shaping needed by the actual text. A font file by itself does not ensure that conjuncts, vowel signs, punctuation, and line breaks will render correctly in every software build. Preview the final export at its intended resolution, or run a private or unlisted rehearsal. FFmpeg documents font-family selection in relevant subtitle rendering paths, but does not establish one universally correct Bengali font or guarantee shaping for every build: FFmpeg filter documentation.

Choose an ingestion protocol that matches the setup
RTMP or RTMPS
RTMP/RTMPS is the straightforward default when the encoder supports it. YouTube recommends RTMPS. Use the codec, frame rate, bitrate, and keyframe settings appropriate to the encoder guidance above; do not apply HLS-specific packaging requirements to an RTMP stream. YouTube’s encoder guide.
HLS
HLS has a separate set of ingest requirements: YouTube specifies M2TS, H.264 or HEVC video, AAC audio, closed GOPs, HTTPS transport, and media playlists rather than master playlists. HLS is segment-based and usually has higher latency than RTMP- and WebRTC-based ingestion. Use it only when the encoder and workflow support those requirements. Do-it-yourself setup checklist
- Prepare the program. Choose the recording or playlist that will supply the continuous show, and confirm that the material is suitable for a public YouTube stream.
- Configure the encoder. Select an ingestion protocol supported by your setup, with RTMPS as YouTube’s recommended default. Start with H.264, CBR, AAC audio, and a two-second keyframe interval.
- Match quality to bandwidth. Select 720p or 1080p and 30 or 60 fps based on the bitrate guidance and a speed test of the actual upload connection.
- Set up Bangla text independently. For selectable subtitles, prepare plain UTF-8 SRT or SBV captions. For burned-in text, check font coverage and shaping in the exported video.
- Rehearse and monitor. Run a representative private or unlisted test, confirm YouTube receives the stream, review health messages, and fix problems before a long run.
- Plan for failures. Decide how the source, computer, power, and network will be monitored and restored. The required recovery arrangements depend on the operator’s environment.
