For a Punjabi music playlist uploaded as a prerecorded video, export an MP4 with progressive H.264 video, keep the recording’s frame rate, and use AAC-LC stereo audio at 48 kHz. For an actual live stream, use YouTube’s separate live-encoder settings: H.264 with CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, and live-specific video and audio bitrates. Punjabi music does not need a special codec or bitrate; the right preset depends on whether you are uploading a finished playlist or sending a live feed.
First decide: prerecorded playlist or live stream?
“Playlist stream” can mean a finished video containing a sequence of songs, uploaded to YouTube, or a live broadcast that sends video and audio to YouTube in real time. Those workflows use different recommendations. In particular, do not apply the upload audio bitrate to a live encoder, or the live ingest bitrate to a prerecorded export.
| Setting | Prerecorded upload | Live stream |
|---|---|---|
| Container or connection | MP4 file | RTMP or RTMPS; YouTube recommends RTMPS |
| Video | H.264, progressive scan | H.264 is supported; use constant bitrate (CBR) |
| Frame rate | Match the recording | Choose a frame rate up to 60 fps that your encoder and connection can sustain |
| Keyframes | Closed GOP; GOP length half the frame rate | Two-second interval recommended; do not exceed four seconds |
| Stereo audio | AAC-LC or Opus, 48 kHz; recommended bitrate 384 kbps | AAC or MP3, 44.1 kHz; recommended bitrate 128 kbps |
| Example video bitrate | SDR 1080p24–30: 8 Mbps; 1080p48–60: 12 Mbps | H.264 1080p30: 5 Mbps; H.264 1080p60: 6 Mbps |
| SDR color | BT.709 | Rec. 709 |
These are YouTube’s separate upload encoding recommendations and live encoder recommendations. The listed bitrates are specific examples, not a Punjabi-music preset.
Best settings for a prerecorded Punjabi playlist upload
Use this baseline
- Container: MP4.
- Video codec and scan: H.264, progressive.
- Frame rate: Match the frame rate of the recording. YouTube says content should be encoded and uploaded in the same frame rate it was recorded. Common rates include 24, 25, 30, 48, 50, and 60 fps.
- Video bitrate: For SDR 1080p, use 8 Mbps at 24, 25, or 30 fps, or 12 Mbps at 48, 50, or 60 fps. For other resolutions or frame rates, consult YouTube’s upload bitrate table rather than extrapolating from these examples.
- Keyframes: Use a closed GOP with GOP length equal to half the frame rate, following YouTube’s upload recommendations.
- Stereo audio: AAC-LC or Opus at 48 kHz. YouTube’s recommended stereo upload bitrate is 384 kbps.
- SDR color: BT.709.
Do not raise or lower the frame rate just because a playlist contains songs. If the visualizer, cover art, or other video was made at a particular frame rate, preserve it through export unless you have a specific production reason to convert it. A higher resolution can take longer to process; YouTube notes that an upload may initially be available only at lower quality while processing finishes. See YouTube’s upload troubleshooting guidance.

Best settings for a live playlist stream
Configure the encoder for live ingest
- Connection: Use RTMPS where your encoder supports it; YouTube recommends RTMPS.
- Video codec and rate control: H.264 with CBR.
- Keyframes: Set a two-second keyframe interval. Do not exceed four seconds.
- Video bitrate: Use the live table for your exact resolution and frame rate. For H.264, YouTube recommends 5 Mbps for 1080p30 and 6 Mbps for 1080p60.
- Stereo audio: AAC or MP3 at 44.1 kHz; YouTube recommends 128 kbps for stereo live audio.
- SDR color: Rec. 709.
The encoder settings describe the incoming feed; YouTube transcodes live input into formats for viewers. Check the full live settings and bitrate recommendations for resolutions and frame rates beyond the examples above.
Allow bandwidth headroom and test the actual show
Your upload connection must sustain the stream bitrate reliably. YouTube advises leaving 20% of upload bandwidth available as room and testing with audio and movement similar to the real broadcast. Preview the stream and monitor stream health before relying on it. See YouTube’s streaming tips.

Music rights are separate from export quality
A correct preset does not grant the right to use the songs. YouTube’s livestream terms require stream providers to have the necessary rights for live content, including music rights. YouTube also scans live streams for third-party content; its guidance says streams are scanned for matches, including copyrighted content in another live broadcast. A licensed track can still be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel. YouTube says Creator Music currently does not support live content.
- Confirm you have permission for every recording and composition in the playlist, and that the permission covers the way you plan to use it.
- For live broadcasts, check whether rights holders need to allowlist your channel, even when you have a licence.
- Review YouTube’s livestream terms, live copyright guidance, and Creator Music FAQ.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a 24/7 YouTube playlist rather than a one-time upload or a live production from a camera, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and each slot streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot. The first day is free with no card. The monthly plan is $9.99 per month. It streams to YouTube only. See StreamNeo or start your free first day.

Common problems and what to check
- The live stream buffers or loses health: Check whether the connection can sustain the chosen bitrate, leave YouTube’s recommended 20% bandwidth headroom, and test with representative audio and motion. If it cannot sustain the setting, choose a lower live bitrate from YouTube’s table.
- The live picture or audio differs from the upload: Confirm you used the live ingest table rather than upload recommendations. Live stereo audio is recommended at 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps; stereo upload audio is recommended at 48 kHz and 384 kbps.
- A new upload appears only in lower quality: Higher-quality resolutions may take longer to process, so allow processing to finish and check again. YouTube’s upload troubleshooting page covers audio and video issues.
- A live stream is interrupted despite a technically correct preset: Review music rights and channel allowlisting. Export settings cannot prevent a copyright match or replace permission to broadcast.
