For an archived livestream, open YouTube Studio, go to Content, filter by Claims, find the video, then choose See details in its Restrictions column. YouTube’s claim details identify the claimant and the content it says was used; use the displayed time range to find the matching audio in a local recording or other retained production audio. FFmpeg can help you inspect media you already have, but the available documentation does not establish that FFmpeg can identify a song or rights holder automatically.
First determine whether it is a live interruption or an archive claim
YouTube handles these at different stages. During an active livestream, YouTube scans for third-party content and may show a warning, interrupt the stream, display a placeholder image, or terminate it if the match continues. A Content ID claim on an archived livestream may instead be made after the stream ends, if you chose to archive it. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
If the stream is still live, note any warning or interruption details and identify what audio was playing at that moment from your production records. The archive workflow below applies when the video has a claim in YouTube Studio; it does not by itself diagnose an active-stream warning.
Find the claimed content and timestamp in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and select Content.
- Filter the list by Claims and locate the archived livestream.
- In the video’s Restrictions column, select See details.
- Record the claimant, the content named in the claim, and the claimed segment or timestamp. If there are multiple segments, note each one: different portions may have different claimants.
YouTube explains that Content ID claims can apply to a segment and may result in monetization, tracking, or blocking, with effects that vary by territory. A claim is not the same thing as a copyright takedown or strike. An unfamiliar claimant alone does not establish that a claim is invalid. Read Learn about copyright claims and What is a claim? for YouTube’s descriptions.

Match the claim interval to your FFmpeg production audio
Use the timestamp from the claim details as a lead, then inspect the corresponding interval in any local recording, separately captured audio, or retained source material from your FFmpeg workflow. Check the original inputs and any music or sound bed that was mixed into the stream. If your recordings use different start times or contain offsets, account for those before comparing the interval.
- Compare the relevant audio with the claimed content description; do not treat a vague label as definitive song identification.
- If a claimant or work is not clearly named, the claim details may not be enough to identify the exact recording. Check the source files, playlist, or other production notes for that interval.
- Do not assume that FFmpeg will name a song or rights holder. The documentation cited here establishes YouTube’s claim-inspection workflow, not a music-recognition feature or a verified FFmpeg command for identifying music.
The exact media-inspection or extraction method depends on the container, audio-stream layout, timestamps, and what output you need. There is no universal command established here that can reliably identify the source track.

Choose what to do with an archive claim
First establish whether you have permission for the content and whether preserving the archive matters more than removing or changing the claimed audio. YouTube’s available editing choices include leaving the claim, muting or erasing audio, trimming the claimed segment, or replacing the song with audio from the YouTube Audio Library. Details are in Remove copyright-claimed content from videos.
- Leave it: consider this when you accept the claim’s effect and do not need to change the archive.
- Mute or erase: YouTube notes that erase-song may not work when the song is difficult to remove. Muting all audio in the claimed segment is usually faster and more likely to clear the claim, but removes other sound in that interval too.
- Trim: use this if cutting the claimed section is acceptable and you want to retain the rest of the archive.
- Replace: choose an available Audio Library track if replacing the music suits the video.
Review the edited result before saving. YouTube says Studio Editor changes saved since June 2025 cannot be reverted.

If you have a license, address the live-stream allowlist
A license does not necessarily prevent an interruption while the stream is live. YouTube says a rights holder should allowlist the channel through Content ID when the creator has permission, because a livestream can still be interrupted without that allowlist. Contact the rights holder about adding the channel, and keep documentation of your permission.
