Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →YouTube supports 4K (2160p) at 60 fps for live-stream ingest and can archive 4K streams, but that does not guarantee every replay will show a 2160p60 option. First check what your encoder actually sent and compare the local recording with the replay; then test the replay on another supported browser or device. YouTube does not identify one universal cause or promise that every replay will offer every resolution and frame-rate combination.
Check whether the stream was actually sent in 4K at 60 fps
A configured 4K60 output is not proof that the stream reached YouTube at that quality. In your encoder or source recording, confirm the actual output resolution is 3840×2160 and the frame rate is 60 fps. Then review the event’s stream health in YouTube Live Control Room and any encoder logs or recording that show the output sent. YouTube lists 2160p at 60 fps as a supported live encoder setting and says it transcodes live streams into multiple output formats, but those facts do not verify the settings used for your particular broadcast. YouTube’s live encoder settings provide the reference values.
Compare the codec and bitrate with YouTube’s guidance
For 2160p at 60 fps, YouTube’s current English encoder guidance recommends 35 Mbps for H.264. For AV1 or H.265 (HEVC), it lists a bitrate range of 10–40 Mbps. The same guidance lists H.264, H.265 and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS video, with frame rates up to 60 fps. These are recommendations and supported settings—not evidence that your encoder used them or that a replay must expose a 2160p60 option.
Compare the local recording with the YouTube replay
If you made a local recording, inspect its properties or open it in a player that reports resolution and frame rate. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive as a backup. As a diagnostic comparison, if the local file is not 2160p60, the limitation was already present before replay playback. If it is 2160p60, compare the replay on other devices; that points the investigation toward YouTube’s processing or playback compatibility, but does not by itself establish which one is responsible.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, including streams at 1440p and 2160p. Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. This archive guidance supports 4K live archives, but does not guarantee that a particular replay will offer every quality option. If the archive itself is missing, check the stream length separately from the missing-quality issue. YouTube’s archive guidance explains the capture limits and recommends making a local backup.
Test playback on another browser and device
The quality menu can vary with the viewer’s connection, player or screen size, original source quality, browser support for newer formats, and device capabilities. YouTube specifically notes that some high-quality formats, including 4K, may not be available on devices that do not support newer compression technology such as VP9. Open the same replay in a current supported browser on another capable device and check whether 2160p appears there. If it does, the original device or browser is a likely factor; if it does not, that still does not prove the source or archive is at fault. YouTube’s video quality guide describes these playback factors.

Use this diagnostic order
- Confirm the source: Verify the encoder’s actual output was 3840×2160 at 60 fps, rather than relying on a planned or selected setting.
- Check stream health: Review the event in Live Control Room and inspect encoder records for the settings and stream quality that were actually sent.
- Inspect a local recording: If one exists, compare its resolution and frame rate with the intended output.
- Check the replay elsewhere: Test another supported browser and a device capable of playing high-quality video, then compare the quality menu.
- Check archive length only if needed: If no replay was captured, remember that streams over 12 hours may not be archived. This is a capture issue, distinct from a missing 2160p60 option in an existing replay.
YouTube recommends testing before an event, monitoring stream health and audio/video quality, checking the local archive, and verifying that the event is accessible from channel or watch pages and mobile devices. Its guidance does not give a guaranteed processing wait time for a missing replay option, so avoid treating a particular wait as a confirmed fix. YouTube’s live-streaming tips cover those checks.
What the missing option does—and does not—tell you
A missing 2160p60 choice alone cannot tell you whether the cause was the source, stream delivery, replay processing, or playback compatibility. The useful distinction is whether the local recording itself is 2160p60 and whether another browser or device offers a higher quality option. YouTube’s documentation establishes support for 2160p60 ingest and 4K archiving, along with playback factors that can limit available options; it does not diagnose an individual replay.

If your setup involves capturing video from a console or camera, a 4K 60fps HDMI capture card may be relevant to building a 4K60 ingest path. It cannot fix a replay rendition that is unavailable or a viewer device that cannot play it. YouTube’s encoder guidance supports the format but does not endorse a particular capture card. YouTube’s encoder guidance lists third-party tools and services; the listed encoders are not made by YouTube.
