Use YouTube Giving to add a charity fundraiser and goal to an eligible channel’s scheduled live stream. In YouTube Studio, open Earn > Giving, create and publish a fundraiser, then attach the stream. Viewers can donate from the watch page; with live chat enabled, they can also use Live Chat Donations. This is separate from Super Chat and from a creator-set goal for gifts to the creator.
Check whether YouTube Giving is available to your channel
YouTube’s stated requirements are that the channel be based in a supported location, have at least 10,000 subscribers, be in the YouTube Partner Program, and not be designated Made for Kids. YouTube notes that some channels may have access outside those published criteria, so check YouTube Studio rather than treating the list as a definitive access test.
YouTube’s current setup-location list includes Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Canada, Colombia, Croatia, Estonia, France, Germany, Ghana, Hong Kong, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Montenegro, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, the Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Availability can change; confirm the current list in YouTube’s YouTube Giving FAQ.
There is also a separate general livestream prerequisite: YouTube’s live-stream guidance says a channel must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. That is a live-streaming requirement, not an additional YouTube Giving eligibility rule. See YouTube’s live-stream setup guidance.

Make sure the nonprofit can be selected
The fundraiser tool offers eligible US-registered 501(c)(3) public charities. YouTube says a nonprofit must be requested by a creator, belong to Google for Nonprofits, opt into online fundraising through GuideStar, and comply with YouTube policies. Private foundations are not currently supported. If a charity does not appear, it may not meet those requirements, use a different public name, or have opted out; use the nonprofit request option and check the eligibility requirements before proceeding.
Create a fundraiser and connect it to your scheduled stream
- Open YouTube Studio on a computer. Sign in to the channel that will host the live stream, then select Earn > Giving.
- Start a fundraiser. Choose Get started > Create a fundraiser.
- Select the beneficiary. Choose an available nonprofit. If it is missing, use the request option and check whether it satisfies YouTube’s charity requirements.
- Enter the campaign details. Add the fundraiser title, description, and any collaborators. Set a goal amount and duration if you want them; YouTube says these settings can be changed later.
- Attach the scheduled live stream. Select the stream that should display the fundraiser.
- Publish. The Donate button appears once the fundraiser’s start date arrives. You can also configure a fundraiser while setting up a stream in Live Control Room > Advanced Settings.
YouTube’s current guidance says the live-chat fundraising feature is called Live Chat Donations; it replaced the older Super Chat for Good mechanism. With live chat enabled, viewers can donate through the live chat control. The fundraiser also has a Donate button on the video’s watch page.

Set expectations for the goal and donations
The goal amount and duration describe the fundraiser campaign. The total raised and progress bar reflect donations for that fundraiser across participating channels and videos, rather than only activity on one stream. You can edit campaign details, change its goal, or remove it from the Giving tab.
YouTube says it partners with Network for Good to collect and distribute donations. Its YouTube Giving FAQ states that “100% of the money you donate will go to the nonprofit. YouTube also covers credit card transaction fees.” The FAQ says distributions are typically monthly, or annually if less than $10 was raised. These are YouTube’s stated handling terms; consult its current FAQ for any changes.

Fix a missing Donate button
- The fundraiser is not live yet: Confirm it was published and that its start date has arrived.
- The stream is not attached: In the Giving tab, check that the scheduled live stream was added to the fundraiser.
- The content is designated Made for Kids: YouTube removes the Donate button for content with that audience designation.
- Live Chat Donations are not visible: Confirm live chat is enabled. On mobile, YouTube says viewers need to use portrait orientation to see the chat donation control.
- You are looking in only one place: The fundraiser Donate button can appear on the watch page; Live Chat Donations are surfaced through live chat.
- The Giving option is missing in Studio: Check channel location, subscriber threshold, YouTube Partner Program status, and Made for Kids designation. Because YouTube says some channels may see access outside its published criteria, also check the Studio Giving area directly.
If YouTube Giving is unavailable
Google for Nonprofits guidance points creators who cannot use YouTube Giving to an external fundraiser linked from an end screen; GoFundMe and JustGiving are examples. This sends viewers to another site. It is not a YouTube Giving campaign and does not create a native Donate button in the watch page or live chat. Check the external provider’s own eligibility, terms, and fees before sharing a link.
