You can keep a YouTube stream running around the clock by running an encoder on a rented Mumbai server and sending its output to the stream URL and key from YouTube Live Control Room. Use RTMPS where your encoder supports it, choose settings the server and outbound connection can sustain, and arrange monitoring and recovery: a rented server does not by itself guarantee an uninterrupted broadcast.

What you need before you start

  • A rented server whose location is actually Mumbai, with enough compute capacity for your chosen encoding settings and enough sustained outbound bandwidth.
  • An encoder that can run on that server and send to YouTube using RTMP or RTMPS.
  • A prepared video or other permitted programme source, plus any audio and playlists your encoder workflow requires.
  • Access to YouTube Live Control Room to create or schedule a broadcast and retrieve its stream URL and key.
  • A plan for checking the encoder, network connection and YouTube stream health over time.

No universal CPU or RAM size for server-side encoding, or a specific Mumbai hosting plan, is established by YouTube’s published encoder guidance. Select a provider only after checking its location, measured outbound performance, transfer or egress terms, compute performance under your chosen settings, restart and recovery options, support and service commitments.

Set up the YouTube broadcast and server

  1. Create or schedule the broadcast. In YouTube Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream and open its stream settings. Copy the stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s [RTMPS instructions](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/10364924?hl=en-GB) describe the current sequence for displaying and copying the RTMPS URL.
  2. Protect the stream key. Treat it like a password. Do not expose it in public scripts, logs, screenshots or support posts. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in the stream settings before continuing.
  3. Configure the encoder. Enter the URL and key supplied for the broadcast, select RTMPS if your encoder supports it, and configure video and audio output. Do not substitute an assumed ingest hostname or URL; use the values supplied for your stream.
  4. Run a test broadcast. Test with representative motion and audio. Check the picture, sound and stream-health messages in Live Control Room before relying on the feed continuously. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate and monitoring stream health during a broadcast (YouTube encoder settings guidance).
  5. Make the process recoverable. Arrange a way to detect an exited encoder, lost network connection or unhealthy YouTube stream, and decide how the process will restart and reconnect. Process supervision and reconnect behavior depend on your server and encoder setup; they are not guaranteed by YouTube’s ingest documentation.

Choose encoder settings that match the server

YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS and supports H.264, H.265 (HEVC) and AV1 video, with frame rates up to 60 fps. It recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval, which should not exceed four seconds. Supported audio codecs include AAC and MP3; for RTMP/RTMPS, 5.1 surround sound is supported only with AAC. Check YouTube’s current table for the exact resolution, frame rate and codec you plan to use because bitrate recommendations differ by those settings.

Setting Practical choice or published guidance
Ingest protocol RTMPS when supported by your encoder; otherwise use a compatible YouTube-listed ingest option.
Video codec H.264, H.265 (HEVC) or AV1, as supported by the encoder and your workflow.
Frame rate Up to 60 fps; choose a rate the content and server can sustain.
Bitrate mode CBR, as listed in YouTube’s encoder guidance.
Keyframe interval Two seconds recommended; do not exceed four seconds.
Audio AAC or MP3. For 5.1 surround over RTMP/RTMPS, use AAC.
Example H.264 bitrate recommendations 720p at 60 fps: 6 Mbps; 1080p at 30 fps: 10 Mbps; 1080p at 60 fps: 12 Mbps. These are YouTube recommendations for the stated combinations, not a guarantee that a particular server or route can sustain them.

The figures above are from YouTube Help’s encoder guidance, current guidance surfaced in 2026. Localized versions of YouTube’s page can show different bitrate tables; consult the current table shown in YouTube’s documentation for your chosen settings rather than mixing figures from different versions. YouTube also offers automatic resolution and frame-rate detection where appropriate (encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions).

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Use RTMPS and verify the network path

RTMPS is RTMP carried over TLS/SSL, adding encryption to the connection. YouTube recommends it as a secure extension of RTMP. For YouTube RTMPS ingestion, Google’s developer documentation specifies an RTMPS URL using a valid YouTube endpoint and path, with a connection to port 443. Use the hostname and full URL provided for your stream; do not invent or replace the endpoint (RTMPS ingestion details).

Measure sustained outbound capacity from the rented server to the ingest service and leave headroom above the configured media bitrate for network variation. A NIC webcast-services page gives 2–4 Mbps per stream for its own government webcast context and advises checking outbound RTMP port 1935. That is contextual guidance, not a universal YouTube bitrate requirement; YouTube’s RTMPS guidance instead specifies port 443 for its RTMPS endpoint (NIC Webcast Services). YouTube supports RTMP, RTMPS, HLS and DASH ingestion, but choose a protocol compatible with your encoder and broadcast needs; the available guidance does not establish a detailed universal ranking beyond YouTube’s recommendation of RTMPS for ordinary encoder workflows (protocol comparison).

Keep a continuous stream healthy

A 24/7 broadcast needs ongoing operations, not only a successful first connection. Before treating the stream as continuous, verify it for long enough to expose problems that a short test might miss, then monitor the components that can interrupt delivery.

  • Encoder: Check that the process remains active and is producing the expected video and audio.
  • Network: Monitor whether the server can sustain its outbound rate and reach the selected ingest endpoint.
  • YouTube: Check Live Control Room for stream health and messages, following YouTube’s recommendation to monitor during the event.
  • Recovery: Decide how an encoder exit or dropped ingest connection will be detected and handled. Test the restart and reconnect procedure rather than assuming the process will recover automatically.

A rented server can host the encoder, but neither server rental nor YouTube’s ingest documentation promises zero downtime. Actual continuity depends on the provider, network route, encoder configuration and recovery arrangements.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you do not want to maintain a server-side encoder, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; each slot streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price regardless of quality, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. It is for uploaded video, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube.
