Connect a Logitech Yeti to an iPhone with a data-capable adapter that matches the iPhone’s port and the microphone cable, then confirm your streaming app is receiving audio from the Yeti before you go live. The right connection depends on whether your iPhone has Lightning or USB-C, and some setups need external power.
What you need to check first
A Yeti is a USB microphone. Before choosing an adapter, check the connector on your iPhone and the plug at the other end of the Yeti’s USB cable. The adapter or hub must support USB data, not just charging. Apple lists microphones among accessories that can connect to USB-C iPhones, while its camera adapters support USB-A accessories including audio/MIDI devices. Apple’s USB-C accessory guidance and camera adapter guidance describe these general connection options; they do not certify every Yeti generation, cable, or streaming app combination. Logitech’s Yeti product information describes the microphone’s USB use and streaming positioning.
- Identify whether the iPhone has a Lightning or USB-C port.
- Identify whether the Yeti cable ends in USB-A or USB-C.
- Use a data-capable adapter or hub that fits those connectors.
- Be ready to supply external power if the iPhone cannot power the connected mic.
Connect a Yeti to a Lightning iPhone
If your Yeti cable ends in USB-A, connect it through Apple’s Lightning to USB Camera Adapter. Apple lists audio/MIDI devices among the USB-A accessories that can be used with its camera adapters.
- Connect the USB-A end of the Yeti cable to the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter.
- Plug the adapter into the iPhone’s Lightning port.
- If iOS reports that the accessory uses too much power, connect the Yeti through a powered USB-A hub, or use Apple’s Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter and connect the iPhone’s power adapter to the Lightning port on that adapter. Connect a Yeti to a USB-C iPhone
USB-C iPhones can connect microphones, but the cable and adapter still matter. Match the adapter to the Yeti cable’s actual plug, and make sure it supports USB data. If the Yeti cable ends in USB-A, you may need a compatible USB-C-to-USB-A data adapter or hub. - Connect the Yeti cable to a compatible USB-C data adapter or hub, if its plug does not fit the iPhone directly.
- Connect the adapter or cable to the iPhone’s USB-C port.
- If the microphone is not recognized or power is insufficient, try a powered hub. Connected accessories can draw power from the phone, so available power may be a factor.
Apple’s USB-C to Lightning Adapter supports charging, data, and audio with Lightning accessories, but Apple does not certify it as the correct connection for every Yeti model or cable. Check your particular cable and setup rather than assuming this adapter will work.
Give the streaming app access and test the audio
- Unlock the iPhone before connecting the microphone if it is not recognized.
- Connect the Yeti, then open the streaming app you plan to use.
- Allow microphone access when prompted. If you need to review the permission later, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone and enable access for the streaming app. See Apple’s microphone privacy guidance.
- Make a short test recording or private stream and listen back. Confirm the audio is coming from the Yeti before starting a public broadcast.
A successful physical connection does not guarantee that every streaming app will route audio from the Yeti. Compatibility depends on the iPhone, Yeti model, cable, adapter, and app; check the specific app’s input behavior before relying on it for a live stream.
