Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchPC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11For a typical 1080p30 source, start with HandBrake’s Fast 1080p30 preset, keep the source frame rate, and use H.264 with AAC stereo. Treat that as a broadly compatible starting point—not a universal quality guarantee. Most importantly, HandBrake’s file-encoding quality or bitrate is separate from the bitrate and keyframe settings used by the live encoder that sends your stream to YouTube.
Recommended HandBrake starting settings for 1080p
These settings prepare a video file. They do not configure the live feed to YouTube; set that up separately in your streaming software or service.
| HandBrake setting | Starting point | When to adjust |
|---|---|---|
| Preset | Fast 1080p30 for a conventional 1080p30 source | For creator-oriented 60 fps output, consider Creator 1080p60 if the source is 60 fps. |
| Container and codecs | MP4, H.264 video, AAC stereo audio | Choose another codec only if the downstream playback and streaming workflow supports it. |
| Dimensions | 1920×1080 when that matches the appropriate source dimensions | Check the output summary: a preset may downscale a source that exceeds its maximum dimensions. |
| Frame rate | Same as Source | If the downstream setup requires fixed-rate output, test CFR at the source’s actual rate. |
| Encoder speed preset | Default or a neutral option such as medium | Slower settings trade encoding time for potential compression efficiency; results depend on source and hardware. |
| Quality mode | Constant quality if consistent visual quality matters more than a predictable file size | Use average bitrate when targeting file size or storage. No single RF value is established for all 1080p content. |
| Encoder tune and advanced options | Default or none | Use a specialized tune only when the material calls for it and you understand its trade-offs. |
HandBrake describes Fast 1080p30 as a good starting choice for beginners and lists MP4, H.264, and AAC stereo for the preset. Its frame-rate documentation page is marked as a draft; its descriptions of Same as Source, CFR, and PFR explain how those controls behave. See HandBrake’s official preset documentation, frame-rate options, and video encoder guidance.
Choose the frame rate to match the source
Use Same as Source when preserving the source timing is the goal. HandBrake’s Same as Source option supports variable frame rate (VFR). If your downstream playback or stream encoder needs constant frame rate (CFR), test CFR at the source’s actual rate rather than converting automatically to 30 or 60 fps.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- PFR (Peak Frame Rate) is a ceiling: portions at or below the selected rate are left unchanged, while higher-rate portions are limited. It does not make every portion run at exactly that rate.
- Do not turn a 24, 25, or 30 fps source into 60 fps simply because the eventual stream is output at high resolution.
- For a 60 fps source intended for 60 fps output, Creator 1080p60 is a relevant web preset. Fast 1080p30 is aimed at ordinary 1080p30 use; preset choice alone does not establish a specific encode speed, quality, or resulting file size on your hardware.
Set quality or file bitrate for the recording—not the live feed
In HandBrake, constant quality lets file size vary to pursue consistent visual quality. Average bitrate is useful when you need to target a file size or storage budget. The right quality setting depends on the footage, motion, noise, encoder, and hardware. There is no established universal RF value for a 1080p 24/7 playlist.
Encode a short representative segment first. Compare detail, noise, and motion, and check its file size before processing a full library. That is a practical evaluation workflow, not a claim that a particular setting has been tested or proven best.

HandBrake presets: Fast 1080p30 or Creator 1080p60?
| Preset | Best starting use | Frame-rate target | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fast 1080p30 | Broad compatibility and conventional 1080p30 material | 30 fps preset target | A sensible general-purpose starting point; preserve a source’s different frame rate where appropriate. |
| Creator 1080p60 | Creator-oriented 60 fps output | 60 fps preset target | Relevant when the source and intended output are 60 fps; it is not a reason to convert lower-frame-rate footage to 60 fps. |
Both are starting points. Check the output dimensions, frame rate, and playback in your intended workflow rather than assuming the preset name guarantees the result for every source.
Configure the separate YouTube Live encoder
After HandBrake creates the file, your live encoder or cloud streaming service handles the feed sent to YouTube. YouTube’s current encoder guidance, accessed in 2026, gives these live-ingestion figures:

| Live video format | Recommended bitrate | Minimum bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p30 H.264 | 14 Mbps | 5 Mbps |
| 1080p60 H.264 | 17 Mbps | 6 Mbps |
| 1080p30 AV1 or H.265 | 10 Mbps | 4 Mbps |
| 1080p60 AV1 or H.265 | 12 Mbps | Not stated in the cited YouTube guidance |
The AV1/H.265 figures are useful only if your live encoder and ingestion workflow support the selected codec. H.264 is a straightforward compatibility choice in the HandBrake presets and YouTube’s live options. YouTube recommends CBR for live bitrate encoding, a 2-second keyframe interval (do not exceed 4 seconds), RTMPS, and Rec. 709 for SDR. Its advanced guidance also specifies square pixels, progressive scan, two B-frames, and CABAC. For audio, YouTube lists AAC or MP3 and recommends 128 Kbps stereo audio. These are live-encoder recommendations, not instructions to encode every source file to those exact settings. See YouTube’s live encoder settings.
Do not confuse YouTube upload and live bitrates
For 1080p SDR H.264 uploads, YouTube’s encoding guidance recommends 8 Mbps at standard frame rates (24, 25, or 30 fps) and 12 Mbps at high frame rates (48, 50, or 60 fps). That guidance also says to match the recorded frame rate and use progressive scan. Those file-upload recommendations are distinct from live ingestion: YouTube recommends 14 Mbps for a 1080p30 H.264 live feed. A HandBrake average-bitrate value should not be copied from the live table just because the finished file will be played in a live stream. See YouTube’s upload encoding settings.

Check the stream before relying on a 24/7 loop
A suitable file encode does not ensure an uninterrupted live channel. Test the complete playback-to-YouTube path before depending on it, using audio and motion similar to the actual playlist.
- Confirm the file plays correctly from beginning to end in the intended player or streaming service, including its audio, aspect ratio, and frame rate.
- Check that the upload connection can sustain the live encoder’s selected bitrate with headroom; a speed test is a useful check, not a guarantee of stable service.
- Run a test stream and review YouTube’s stream health messages. Watch both audio and video quality, and correct any warnings before using the setup continuously.
- For a 24/7 operation, decide how playback and reconnection will work if the encoder, connection, or YouTube ingest session stops. HandBrake documentation does not promise continuous operation or uptime.
YouTube advises testing before going live, checking that the connection can sustain the outgoing bitrate, and monitoring stream health and quality during the event. Its guidance is at live encoder settings and live streaming tips.

Copyright and YouTube channel considerations
Encoding settings do not grant rights to the music, video, or other material in a playlist. Use content you own or are authorized to stream, and review YouTube’s rules and your channel’s status before scheduling continuous playback. A file that encodes successfully can still trigger a copyright claim or other platform action. For a practical preflight, use the copyright safety checklist; it does not replace YouTube’s policies or legal advice.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a YouTube channel that keeps prerecorded videos live around the clock, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload the video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos; it does not broadcast a camera. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on, the uploaded quality is streamed as made up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and the service automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, and StreamNeo team support. The first day is free with no card; one free day is available per account. Plans differ by duration: daily, weekly, monthly, six months, or yearly, with cancellation any time.
