Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Keep your prerecorded footage at its recorded 60 fps, then configure the encoder’s live output separately: YouTube’s recommended live bitrate depends on both resolution and codec. To run the playlist continuously, feed the prepared clips to a software or hardware encoder, or use a cloud service; create a YouTube live event, connect its stream URL and key, and test the full sequence before relying on it unattended.
Prepare the video files without discarding 60 fps
Check every clip before arranging the playlist. Confirm its resolution, frame rate, progressive or interlaced scan, aspect ratio, audio, and your rights to stream both the video and its soundtrack. If footage was recorded at progressive 60 fps, there is no need to convert it to 30 fps just to make a continuous live playlist.
YouTube’s upload guidance says, “Content should be encoded and uploaded in the same frame rate it was recorded.” Its recommendations include MP4 with H.264 video and progressive scan. The listed upload bitrate for SDR content at 1080p and 48–60 fps is 12 Mbps; for 4K and 48–60 fps it is 53–68 Mbps. These are upload recommendations—not the bitrate to use for the encoder’s live feed. YouTube notes that the documented upload features are for Studio Content Manager partners, so treat the figures as reference guidance, not a required transcoding recipe for every creator. YouTube’s upload encoding recommendations
You do not have to re-encode a file that already works in your chosen playback and encoding setup. If you do convert it, preserve 60 fps and use settings compatible with your playback software and encoder; check the result for audio sync, missing frames, and unintended cropping before adding it to the playlist.

Choose how the playlist will become a live feed
| Approach | What it means | Trade-off to check |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder | A computer plays the prepared media into an encoder and sends the live feed to YouTube. YouTube lists OBS as open-source software available at no charge. | You control clip order and production, but the computer and its network connection need to remain available while it runs. |
| Standalone hardware encoder | A dedicated device encodes and sends the feed; this can suit more advanced productions. | Check that it supports your required resolution, codec, frame rate, playlist playback arrangement, and monitoring. YouTube says expensive equipment is not needed to get started. |
| Cloud service | A service in the cloud can send prerecorded videos as a continuous YouTube live stream without relying on a local encoding computer to stay on. | Verify the vendor’s current support for looping, clip order, transitions, file limits, stream settings, plan limits, monitoring, and recovery. YouTube’s encoder directory describes Gyre for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos and Upstream as a cloud studio for 24/7 streaming; those descriptions do not establish detailed features or plan behavior. |
StreamNeo is #1 to try for a YouTube prerecorded-video stream that should keep running from the cloud: uploaded videos loop from the cloud at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and the first day is free. The service options listed by YouTube are described in its encoder directory; confirm the details that matter with any service before depending on it.
Set the live encoder output for 60 fps
Choose the bitrate from the live-ingestion settings for the actual outgoing resolution and codec. Do not substitute the upload bitrate for the live bitrate: for example, YouTube’s 1080p60 upload reference is 12 Mbps, while its live recommendation is 12 Mbps for AV1 or H.265 and 17 Mbps for H.264.

For live encoding, YouTube supports RTMP or RTMPS and H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1, up to 60 fps. Use constant bitrate (CBR) and a 2-second keyframe interval; do not exceed 4 seconds. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport. Make sure the outgoing frame rate and resolution match the feed you intend to send. The figures above are YouTube Help settings observed on 2026-10-03; they are configuration guidance, not a guarantee that every viewer’s device and connection will receive a 60 fps rendition. YouTube transcodes live streams into multiple output formats for viewers. See YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions
Create the event, connect the encoder, and test the playlist
- Create or select the live event. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a stream or select the event you intend to use. Review its audience, visibility, latency, DVR, and auto-start or auto-stop settings as appropriate for your broadcast. YouTube documents these controls in Manage live stream settings.
- Copy the stream URL and key into the encoder. Use the URL and key shown for that event. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, share it publicly, or put it in a visible overlay. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Set the outgoing stream parameters. Apply the intended resolution and 60 fps output, the codec-specific bitrate from the table, CBR, and a 2-second keyframe interval. Choose RTMPS where supported.
- Preview the incoming signal. Confirm YouTube receives the stream and inspect its stream-health information before going live. Check picture, audio level and sync, aspect ratio, and motion for representative footage.
- Test the whole playlist. Run the clips in their intended order, including the transition from the last clip back to the first. Check for black frames, audio gaps, clipping, or an encoder that stops at the end of a file. Do not assume transitions will be seamless: behavior depends on the playback and encoding setup.
- Monitor the stream. Watch stream health and the local player or encoder during the test and after going live. If you are also recording an archive, check that the local recording is intact. YouTube’s live streaming tips cover testing, previewing, monitoring, and archive checks.
Copyright and channel considerations
Having a file on your computer does not establish that you have permission to broadcast it. Confirm that you have the rights or applicable permission for every video and audio track, including music that may be embedded in a gameplay recording. The encoder settings above do not grant those rights. YouTube’s policies and any claims or restrictions affecting your channel or content still apply; check your event and channel status before leaving a long stream unattended.

Common problems and fixes
- The stream looks less smooth than the source. Confirm the file is actually 60 fps, the encoder output is set to 60 fps, and the live event receives that output. Preserve the recorded frame rate rather than converting 60 fps footage to 30 fps. Viewer playback can still vary because YouTube transcodes streams and playback depends on the viewer’s device and connection.
- YouTube reports poor stream health or buffering. Check whether the selected bitrate matches the live resolution and codec, whether the connection can sustain the outgoing feed, and whether the encoder is using CBR. Reduce the output resolution or bitrate if the available connection cannot reliably sustain the chosen settings.
- The feed connects but does not appear on the intended event. Verify that the stream URL and key belong to the selected event and that the encoder is sending to that destination. If the key was exposed, replace it and update the encoder.
- Clips have black frames, gaps, or abrupt audio changes. Inspect the source files and playlist transitions in a full test. Transition behavior is specific to the playback and encoding tools; no universal gapless-transition guarantee applies.
- The stream stops at the end of a video or after a local failure. Check that the playback setup is configured to continue through the playlist and loop it, and that the encoder and network remain active. If using a cloud service, verify its current looping and recovery behavior rather than assuming every service or plan provides it.
- The live image is cropped or audio is out of sync. Check the source aspect ratio, encoder canvas and output resolution, and audio configuration. Test each different source format; a mixed playlist can reveal problems that a single clip does not.
