To keep audio continuous in a YouTube Live stream that repeats prerecorded video, configure the repeat in your creator-side media playback or encoder workflow—not with YouTube’s viewer Loop button. Then test the actual file across several loop boundaries, check the stream’s audio settings, and monitor the preview and stream health. YouTube’s guidance does not guarantee that any encoder or setting will make a file transition gapless.
Why YouTube’s Loop button does not keep a livestream repeating
YouTube’s Loop videos or playlists instructions describe a viewer feature for replaying a video or playlist on its watch screen. It does not tell a creator’s encoder to repeat a source during a livestream.
For an encoder-fed live broadcast, the encoder sends the program feed to YouTube. Repetition therefore needs to be configured in the creator-side playback chain: the media source and the software or device sending it. YouTube’s encoder guidance explains how to deliver a live feed, but does not provide universal, product-specific instructions for looping a source or promise seamless audio at the transition. The exact controls depend on the encoder you use.
Test the loop boundary before going public
A stream can sound fine at the beginning and still pause, click, or lose a beat when the media repeats. Test the actual video and audio you plan to broadcast; a generic test clip may not reveal a problem in your file or playback setup.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Identify the repeated source and its audio route. In your encoder, confirm which media source is being repeated and that its audio is routed into the outgoing program. Consult that encoder’s documentation for its own controls; there is no universal YouTube menu path for source looping.
- Listen across several complete repetitions. Pay particular attention to the instant the ending transitions back to the beginning. Check for silence, clicks, clipped syllables, abrupt changes in level, or a beat that disappears.
- Preview a test broadcast. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement representative of the intended stream and previewing in Live Control Room before broadcasting. An unlisted test stream can help you inspect the feed without making it public.
- Check the audience playback too. Listen to the stream on the kind of device and connection your viewers are likely to use, and compare it with the encoder preview. YouTube advises checking watch-page accessibility, including on mobile devices.
Do not assume that matching YouTube’s audio encoding recommendations will remove a gap already present at the source-file transition. Those settings govern the encoded stream, not the continuity of the media being played.
Use audio settings that match your ingestion protocol
YouTube recommends RTMPS for live ingestion. Its encoder guidance also lists RTMP/RTMPS as an option. Select settings supported by your chosen protocol and encoder; these recommendations are not a guarantee of gapless looping.

| Ingestion protocol and audio layout | YouTube’s listed audio guidance |
|---|---|
| RTMP/RTMPS, stereo | AAC or MP3; 44.1 kHz sample rate and 128 Kbps recommended. |
| RTMP/RTMPS, 5.1 | 48 kHz and 384 Kbps; 5.1 over RTMP/RTMPS is supported only for AAC. |
| HLS | AAC, AC3, or EAC3; 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps recommended for stereo. |
For protocol-specific details, see YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions and HLS setup guidance. YouTube says HLS has higher latency than RTMP because it sends video segments rather than a continuous stream. That is an ingestion difference, not evidence that switching to HLS will fix a source-loop gap.
Tell a source-loop fault from a stream interruption
The timing of the problem is a useful clue, though it cannot diagnose every setup on its own.

- The same click, silence, or missing beat happens at every repeat: inspect the media file and the encoder’s playback behavior at the loop boundary. Test the exact source several times.
- The audio break happens at irregular times, or the stream buffers or drops: check YouTube’s stream-health notices, the encoder’s outgoing feed, and network stability. YouTube warns that network disruption can break a stream and recommends continuously monitoring stream quality.
- The encoder preview is clean but the live playback is not: compare the outgoing stream with playback on a watch page and check stream health; the issue may be in delivery or ingest rather than the source transition.
These are troubleshooting clues, not guarantees: monitor both the audio and video in the outgoing stream, as YouTube recommends in its streaming tips.
Check upload headroom and stream health
YouTube recommends having available upload bandwidth 20% above the total streaming bitrate to allow room for network variation. A connection that barely meets the stream’s bitrate may be vulnerable to disruption. Monitor YouTube’s stream-health indicators during a test and while live, rather than assuming a successful start means the connection will remain stable.
