To set up the YouTube merch shelf, first make sure your channel is eligible for YouTube Shopping, then connect a supported store in YouTube Studio under Earn > Shopping. After YouTube reviews the products, arrange the items you want to feature. If you cannot see the Shopping tab or a shelf is missing, check eligibility, product approval and the content or viewer conditions before reconnecting your store.
What YouTube means by a merch shelf
YouTube Shopping can display products in several places: a channel store or Store tab, product links in descriptions, product tagging or a Shopping button, and a product shelf associated with eligible videos or livestreams. These are distinct surfaces. Connecting a store does not guarantee that a product shelf will appear beneath every video or livestream, and the channel-home store or shelf is not the same thing as an individual video’s product shelf.
YouTube describes the feature as a way for eligible creators to showcase products and official branded merchandise. The retailer or store platform, not Google, handles merch sales and local shipping support. Check eligibility before connecting a store
YouTube Shopping is not available to every channel. YouTube’s current eligibility overview says a channel must be in the YouTube Partner Program and meet the applicable subscriber threshold, or be an Official Artist Channel. Audience and policy requirements also apply. The applicable subscriber threshold can vary with YouTube’s eligibility rules; check the current requirements rather than relying on an old number.

- Confirm the channel is in the YouTube Partner Program or is an Official Artist Channel.
- Check the applicable subscriber threshold and other current YouTube Shopping requirements.
- Review the channel’s audience settings and policy standing.
If Earn > Shopping is not available in Studio, treat that as an eligibility issue to investigate first. The tab appears only when YouTube considers the channel eligible.
Choose and prepare a supported store
You need a store platform or retailer supported by YouTube. Shopify is one documented option, but it is not required. Before connecting a store, check that it is supported for your country and that its product feed, product listings and shipping settings are ready. Availability and shipping are handled by the store or retailer, so confirm local coverage with that provider.

Choose a platform that fits your existing store and can keep its product information in line with YouTube and Google Merchant Center policies. YouTube reviews connected products; a successful store connection does not mean every item is approved.
Connect your store in YouTube Studio
- On a desktop browser, sign in to the Google account that manages your channel and open YouTube Studio.
- In the left menu, select Earn, then open Shopping. This tab is shown only for eligible channels.
- If no store is connected, select Get Started. To add another store, select Connect new store. YouTube allows multiple stores to be connected.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to link the official store and authorize the connection.
- After setup, return to Earn > Shopping to review connected products and their status.
Shopify setup: use the Google & YouTube app
Shopify uses a separate connection flow through its Google & YouTube app. The Google account connected in the app needs admin access to the YouTube channel you intend to use.

- In Shopify, install or open the Google & YouTube app.
- Connect a Google account that has admin access to the intended YouTube channel.
- In the app, select YouTube Shopping, then choose Get Started.
- Select the correct channel, accept the terms and complete the setup prompts.
- Check YouTube Studio’s Earn > Shopping area for connected products and review status.
If setup stalls, verify both the Google account’s channel permissions and the channel selected in the app. Connecting a different Google account or choosing the wrong channel can prevent the intended store-channel pairing.
Wait for product review, then arrange the shelf
YouTube reviews products for compliance with YouTube and Google Merchant Center policies. Review typically takes a few business days, but that is an estimate, not a guaranteed turnaround. The store can be connected while individual products are still under review, disapproved or otherwise unavailable.

Once eligible products are available, use Earn > Shopping in Studio to customize the product selection and order. YouTube documents a channel-level arrangement of up to 30 items. Save your changes. If you prefer YouTube’s automatic product selection, use the option to return to auto-selection instead of maintaining a manual order.

Diagnose the specific surface and context: a missing Shopping tab, an empty product selection and a shelf absent on one video have different likely causes.

- No Shopping tab in Studio: Check whether the channel meets current YouTube Shopping eligibility requirements. The tab is not shown to ineligible channels.
- Store connected, but no products appear: Check that at least one product is approved and eligible. Review the store feed and product status with the retailer or store administrator.
- A product was disapproved: Review the relevant policy status with the store administrator. The retailer or Merchant Center administrator can address the listing and submit an appeal where available.
- Shelf absent on particular content: Check whether the video or stream is marked made for kids, has a copyright claim, has limited or ineligible monetization, or involves ticketing, donations or Creator Music revenue sharing. These conditions can affect Shopping display.
- A viewer cannot see the shelf: Display can depend on the viewer’s country and the device or browser context. Check the surface from another supported context before concluding the store connection failed.
- Shopify connection does not complete: Confirm the Google account in the Google & YouTube app has admin access to the intended channel and that you selected that channel during setup.
