You can run a Tamil lofi stream through OBS by building a scene with your music and visuals, connecting OBS to YouTube Live with a stream key, and testing the complete setup before broadcasting. A 24/7 goal is not an uptime guarantee: the computer, network, OBS, and YouTube connection all need to keep working, and YouTube documents automatic archiving only for streams under 12 hours.
Before you set up OBS: YouTube eligibility and music rights
Confirm the channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions during the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before your planned start rather than treating a delayed activation as an OBS problem. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup instructions.
Clear the music before broadcasting
Use music you have the necessary rights to stream and archive. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; it may replace the broadcast with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it if a match is not resolved. If you have a license for third-party music, YouTube advises asking the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license and allowlisting are separate issues, and a “royalty-free” label by itself does not ensure an uninterrupted stream. YouTube may apply Content ID claims to an archived live stream after it ends. Read YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
How to set up a 24/7 lofi stream on YouTube
1. Install OBS and create a scene
Install OBS Studio, then use its Auto-Configuration Wizard to choose a starting configuration. The wizard considers your intended use, computer resources, and network conditions, but it does not certify that the computer can run continuously. OBS’s quick start and system requirements are dated 2021-08-25; OBS cautions that compatible hardware is not necessarily capable of successful streaming or recording.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Add the visual: In a scene, add an image source for static artwork or a video source for a moving background. Use visuals you own or have permission to broadcast.
- Add the music: Add a media or audio source for the track or playlist you intend to play. Configure the source so its playback continues as needed for your intended format.
- Check the mixer: Play the scene and watch the Audio Mixer meters. Confirm that the intended music registers and that other sources are not adding unwanted sound.
- Preview the composition: Check that the visual is framed as intended and that the scene does not show private or unintended material.
OBS scenes combine sources such as images, video, and media. See the OBS Quick Start Guide and OBS Studio overview.
2. Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.
- In Live Control Room, create or select a stream and retrieve the stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s encoder instructions describe this flow.
- In OBS, open Settings → Stream. Choose YouTube if it appears in the service list, or enter the server URL supplied by YouTube and paste in the stream key.
- Keep the stream key private. Anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
3. Choose output settings you can sustain
Run an internet speed test and leave headroom for ordinary changes in upload capacity. YouTube’s recommended H.264 video bitrates include these 30 fps examples; they are platform recommendations, not a guarantee for a particular connection or machine.

| Output | YouTube-recommended H.264 video bitrate |
|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps |
| 720p at 30 fps | 6 Mbps |
| 480p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps |
The complete YouTube recommendations vary by codec, resolution, and frame rate. Follow the relevant row in YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions table if you choose a different format.
- Rate control: YouTube specifies CBR.
- Keyframes: YouTube recommends a 2-second interval and says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Audio: YouTube specifies AAC or MP3.
- Ingest: Use RTMPS for encrypted ingest when configuring the server connection.
- Frame rate: For a mostly static lofi visual, 30 fps is a reasonable setting to test, not a Tamil lofi requirement. OBS notes that 60 fps can demand more from the computer.
Choose resolution and frame rate according to both upload capacity and sustained encoding ability. OBS does not give one universal CPU or GPU minimum for this workload: requirements vary with encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity. Its system requirements page explicitly warns that compatibility does not guarantee successful streaming or recording. If your current computer struggles in a representative test, assess another computer by its available hardware encoder, sustained output performance, operating-system support, network connection, and reliability rather than relying on a generic “streaming PC” tier.

4. Test the full broadcast before going live
- Start the OBS output and verify that YouTube receives the stream in Live Control Room.
- Test the actual scene, including both the music and representative visual movement if you use a video background.
- Check OBS’s Audio Mixer and output, then review YouTube’s stream health for warnings.
- Leave the test running long enough to reveal problems that do not appear immediately. A successful short test does not establish that your computer or network can run indefinitely.
- In OBS, enable automatic reconnect under Settings → Advanced, then deliberately test how your setup behaves after a connection interruption or restart.
OBS recommends testing before the first broadcast and documents automatic reconnect in its overview. Reconnect is not a guarantee against every power, operating-system, application, or network failure. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance also recommends testing and monitoring stream health.
What a continuous stream does—and does not—guarantee
A 24/7 broadcast is a chain of dependencies
With OBS, a computer runs the scene and encoder while the network carries the feed to YouTube. Any interruption to the computer, application, connection, or platform can interrupt the broadcast. OBS’s basic compatibility guidance is not a promise of continuous operation, and the setup recommendations above are not a validated 24/7 hardware configuration.

Do not assume a 24-hour stream will be fully archived
YouTube’s encoder instructions state: “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” That qualifies automatic archiving to streams shorter than 12 hours; it does not promise that one continuous 24-hour stream will be archived in full. If you need a replay, plan how you will create and verify replay files separately. To end a YouTube stream, stop sending content from the encoder, as described in YouTube’s encoder instructions.
