To use fewer bytes when uploading a video to Gyre, make the video file smaller before you upload it. To protect your mobile data allowance, upload over Wi-Fi or broadband instead. Wi-Fi changes which connection carries the transfer; it does not reduce the file’s size or total data transferred.

Why Gyre still needs the video file

Gyre requires video files to be uploaded to its storage to create a stream—even if the video was already uploaded to YouTube or is part of an existing playlist. Linking to a YouTube upload does not avoid the Gyre upload. Gyre’s video preparation guidance explains this requirement.

Make the file smaller before uploading

File size is the main factor in how many bytes the upload transfers. A lower resolution, lower video bitrate, or lower frame rate can reduce that size, but may also reduce image detail or motion smoothness. The result depends on the source video and export settings; Gyre does not publish a guaranteed savings figure for a particular conversion.

Use Gyre’s Video Converter

  1. Open the Video Converter in your Gyre account and select the video file.
  2. Choose Optimization and review the parameters shown for the converted file.
  3. Select an output frame rate of 30 or 60 fps, then start optimization.
  4. Compare the resulting file’s size and appearance with the original before using it for the full stream.

Gyre documents this converter workflow and its selectable frame rates in its Video Converter guide.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Choose export settings deliberately

Gyre’s published preparation targets for the HD/full-HD live-stream requirements it describes include 1280×720 or 1920×1080 resolution, H.264 video, a video bitrate of 3,072–6,144 kbps, 128 kbps audio, and 30 fps. These are preparation targets, not a rule to use the highest listed bitrate for every file. If reducing upload size is the priority, try a lower resolution or bitrate that remains acceptable for your stream. Consider 30 fps when the source has more frames than you need.

Before converting a long recording, make a short sample with the settings you are considering. Check both its file size and whether details and movement still look right for your intended stream. A smaller file sends fewer bytes, but the appropriate balance between size and quality is a judgment call rather than a universal preset.

Choose the connection that uses the right allowance

Uploading over Wi-Fi or broadband can keep a large transfer from consuming your mobile data allowance. It does not compress the video or make the upload contain fewer bytes. If you must upload over mobile data, check the file size first and make sure your plan can accommodate the transfer; exact mobile charges depend on your carrier and plan.

For context, Jio’s page Know How Does Video Resolution Affect Data Usage estimates streaming consumption at up to 0.3 GB/hour for low, 0.7 GB/hour for medium, 1 GB/hour for high, 3 GB/hour for HD, and 7 GB/hour for Ultra HD. Jio cautions that actual streaming use varies by app or website. These are estimates for watching video, not for uploading a file to Gyre; do not use them to calculate an individual upload. The upload’s bytes depend on the prepared file.

When an upload is larger than expected

  • The source is high-resolution or high-bitrate: make a short sample at a lower resolution or video bitrate, then compare its size and quality.
  • The source frame rate is higher than needed: try a 30 fps output if that suits the footage; check the motion before converting the full video.
  • You are counting on a YouTube copy to avoid uploading: Gyre still requires the video file in Gyre storage to create a stream.
  • You are using mobile data to avoid a slow Wi-Fi connection: remember this changes the connection used, not the transfer size. Compare upload reliability and allowance impact before choosing.
