Choose OneStream Live’s dedicated 24/7 workflow if you want prerecorded videos to loop on YouTube without keeping your own computer online; choose OBS if you need to produce a live broadcast from scenes, a camera, a capture card, or other local sources. They solve different problems: OneStream hosts a prerecorded loop in the cloud, while OBS encodes a production on your computer. Neither available source establishes which has better measured uptime for a particular creator.
Start with the workflow you need
| Question | OneStream Live 24/7 workflow | OBS workflow |
|---|---|---|
| What is being streamed? | Prerecorded videos arranged for ongoing playback. | A live production assembled from scenes and local sources; OBS also supports recording. |
| Where does encoding and operation happen? | OneStream describes its 24/7 scheduling as cloud-based; you configure videos and a duration. | OBS runs on your computer, which must stay powered, connected, and able to handle the encoding workload. |
| Is the dedicated 24/7 feature for YouTube? | Yes. OneStream’s Help Center says its dedicated 24/7 workflow is YouTube-only and requires Enterprise. OneStream’s 24/7 setup guide was last updated September 3, 2026. | YouTube is one possible destination for an encoder stream. The cited OBS sources do not establish a fixed duration limit specific to OBS. |
| What production control is it suited to? | Automated prerecorded rotation. OneStream also describes separate studio and encoder features. | Custom live scenes and local video or audio inputs, including external hardware. |
| What does recovery mean? | Cloud scheduling avoids relying on your OBS computer to encode the prerecorded loop. The cited sources provide no comparative uptime measurements. | OBS can be configured to reconnect automatically, but the computer, encoder workload, and internet connection still matter. |
OneStream also accepts external encoder input, including OBS, but that is a separate live-encoder workflow—not the prerecorded 24/7 feature. Its product overview, updated August 24, 2026, describes the distinction.
Choose OneStream for a prerecorded loop—after confirming eligibility
OneStream’s documented 24/7 setup is designed for prerecorded video playback on YouTube. Its guide describes selecting a 24-hour stream, adding videos from a device or storage, connecting a YouTube channel, entering stream details, choosing a duration, and scheduling the broadcast. A scheduled 24/7 stream can last at most 30 days, according to the guide; to continue beyond that, an operator would need to schedule another stream.
There is an important plan caveat: the Help Center says 24/7 streaming requires Enterprise, while OneStream’s pricing page also displays a separate 24-hour YouTube stream add-on. The available pages do not settle whether the add-on alone qualifies every plan or whether other account conditions apply. Verify current eligibility and the total recurring price directly with OneStream before paying. Pricing and included storage or bandwidth may change. OneStream’s pricing page showed these listings when checked October 3, 2026: Free; Basic at $15/month; Standard at $39/month; Professional at $49/month; Enterprise at $139/month; and a 24-hour YouTube stream add-on at $30/month. Treat these as time-sensitive displayed prices, not a guarantee of current checkout terms.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
OneStream says prerecorded streams can be scheduled up to 60 days in advance. That is advance scheduling time, not the maximum duration of one 24/7 stream. Its broader service overview describes 45+ social platforms and custom RTMP destinations, but that platform count does not change the dedicated 24/7 feature’s YouTube-only limit.
Choose OBS for a live-produced broadcast
OBS is the better fit when the stream itself needs to be assembled live: for example, custom scenes, a webcam, gameplay capture, external audio, or a capture card. YouTube likewise describes encoder streaming as useful for screen sharing, external audio/video hardware, and advanced productions. YouTube’s encoder-streaming guidance explains that workflow.

OBS runs on the operator’s computer. A “streaming PC” is therefore part of the operating setup, but no single hardware specification can be recommended without knowing the chosen resolution, frame rate, encoder, and scene complexity. OBS’s system requirements page cautions that compatibility alone does not guarantee the machine can stream or record the intended workload; the page is dated August 25, 2021, so check current compatibility as well. OBS system requirements.
With OBS, you select a service or custom streaming server, enter the stream key, set bitrate and recording options as needed, and configure automatic reconnect. OBS recommends testing the configuration and available resources before going live. Reconnect can help after a disconnection, but it is not an uptime guarantee and does not remove the need to maintain local equipment and connectivity. OBS Studio overview.

Keep a YouTube stream running 24/7: decide who operates it
If your goal is an unattended loop of uploaded recordings, the operational difference is who must keep the stream running: OneStream’s documented 24/7 workflow schedules the prerecorded material in the cloud, whereas OBS requires a functioning local computer and network connection. If your goal is an actively produced show, OBS gives you the local scene and source workflow; the OneStream 24/7 feature is not a substitute for live camera production.
Do not treat “24/7” as a quantified uptime promise. No independent comparative uptime statistic is established for these options. Cloud hosting removes your home computer as a point of failure for the prerecorded loop, while local OBS operation leaves the computer, encoder workload, and connection in your operating chain.

Troubleshoot OBS interruptions and dropped frames
Dropped frames or an unstable stream
OBS identifies dropped frames as a sign that the connection to the remote server is unstable or cannot sustain the configured bitrate. Lower the bitrate and investigate the network connection; then test again under the intended workload. A bitrate the connection cannot sustain can interrupt delivery even if OBS remains open. OBS stream connection troubleshooting, dated September 30, 2024.
OBS cannot keep up with the production
Meeting minimum compatibility requirements does not prove that a particular computer can handle the selected encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity. Test the actual scenes and settings before relying on a long broadcast; reduce the workload or adjust the production if the system cannot sustain it. OBS system requirements.

A disconnect occurs despite automatic reconnect
Automatic reconnect is a setting to configure, not a promise that a broadcast will never stop. Check the computer, encoder workload, and network path, and verify recovery in a test. The cited OBS material recommends testing configuration and resources; it does not claim reconnect guarantees continuous delivery.
