It depends on how you’re streaming. A prerecorded video scheduled through OneStream Live is documented to start automatically at its scheduled time, so the computer used to set it up should not need to remain on afterward. That conclusion is an inference from OneStream’s documented workflow, not an explicit shutdown guarantee. If you’re sending a live feed from an encoder such as OBS running on your computer, that computer and encoder need to stay on to supply the feed.
Which OneStream Live workflow are you using?
“Streaming” can mean playing a prerecorded video as a scheduled broadcast, sending a live feed from an encoder, or hosting a live session in OneStream’s browser-based studio. Whether your computer can be turned off depends on where the video or live feed comes from.

Scheduled prerecorded streams: how the computer-off workflow works
For a prerecorded broadcast, OneStream’s documented process is to choose a video source, select a destination, enter stream details, and schedule the broadcast. Sources listed include your device, OneStream storage, and cloud storage such as Google Drive or Dropbox. OneStream says prerecorded content can go live automatically at the scheduled time. Once the video has been uploaded or selected and the broadcast is scheduled, the setup computer should not need to remain on; this is an inference from the workflow, because the help page does not explicitly state a computer-shutdown guarantee.
The help-center overview states that prerecorded streams can be scheduled up to 60 days in advance. That is a stated feature limit in the overview, not a limit that should be assumed for every OneStream feature or plan; check the current scheduling interface and help page for availability.

Encoder streams: the source computer must stay active
An encoder-based broadcast is different: an external encoder sends the live feed to OneStream Live. OneStream’s instructions have you configure a destination, copy its server URL and stream key, and enter those connection details in the encoder. If that encoder is running on the computer you turn off, the computer stops supplying the feed. Keeping a scheduled broadcast alive is not the same as keeping a locally generated live feed alive.

OneStream’s instructions are in How to Schedule Streams on Stream Players. Treat the stream key as a credential: use the key for the intended destination and do not share it publicly.
What the 24/7 feature does—and its limits
OneStream documents a 24/7 prerecorded-stream option for YouTube. Its help page says this feature requires an Enterprise plan and has a maximum duration of 30 days. Those limits apply to the documented 24/7 feature; they should not be read as limits on every scheduled prerecorded broadcast.

Use the symptom to identify which part of the workflow needs attention. These checks follow the distinctions in OneStream’s published instructions; they do not imply that every failure has a single cause.
