To embed a YouTube playlist in a Blogger post, open the playlist on a computer, choose Share → Embed in YouTube, copy the HTML, then paste it into the post editor’s HTML view. Preview the post before publishing. The steps work the same in India as elsewhere; the available platform instructions do not identify a separate India-only setting.
Embed a playlist in a Blogger post
- Open the playlist itself. On a computer, go to the YouTube playlist page—not a page for one video in the playlist. Check that the URL identifies a playlist and includes its
listID. YouTube’s [playlist sharing help] describes playlist links and embedding. - Copy YouTube’s embed code. On the playlist page, select Share, then Embed, and copy the HTML YouTube provides. YouTube supports embedding a video or playlist on a website or blog; see Embed videos & playlists.
- Open the Blogger post editor. Create a post or edit the post where the playlist belongs. Switch the editor to HTML view, place the cursor where the player should appear, and paste the copied markup. Blogger’s post editing help covers creating and editing posts, and its HTML editing guidance explains working with post HTML.
- Preview, then publish or update. Check the preview and the live page to confirm the player appears in the intended place and fits the post column. If it is too wide, adjust the iframe’s
widthandheightattributes in the embed code and preview again. Themes vary, so no single dimension guarantees a responsive fit everywhere.
For one playlist attached to one article, post HTML is the most direct placement. Blogger theme or layout controls change broader site presentation, so use them only if the player belongs in a site-wide area. Blogger cautions that custom code and third-party widgets are added at the author’s risk.
Check playlist access and playback
- Use the playlist URL, not a single-video URL. The playlist’s
listidentifier tells the embed which collection to show. - Confirm video visibility and embedding permissions. A private video must be shared with the viewers who need access, and a video whose uploader has disabled embedding may not play in the player. YouTube recommends using public videos that allow embedding; see YouTube’s playlist embed guidance and its embedding restrictions help.
- Expect limits on age-restricted videos. Age-restricted videos may not play on most third-party websites and may direct viewers to YouTube instead. See YouTube’s embed help.
- Use HTTPS. Keep the embed URL secure. If Blogger reports mixed content, look for insecure HTTP URLs in the post or theme HTML and replace them with HTTPS when available. Blogger explains this in its mixed-content troubleshooting help.
Optional: use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode
YouTube’s privacy-enhanced embed uses the youtube-nocookie.com domain. You can switch the domain in the embed URL from youtube.com to youtube-nocookie.com. This mode does not remove the obligation for child-directed sites to self-designate as such. YouTube also documents an HTTP referrer requirement for embedded-player playback: the player should run within its enclosing webpage rather than as a bare player URL opened directly. See YouTube’s embed instructions.
Keep the playlist in a post or put it in the site layout?
| Placement | Best fit | Scope and upkeep |
|---|---|---|
| Post or page HTML | A playlist that accompanies a particular article or page. | Applies to that post or page and can be edited there. |
| Theme or layout controls | A player intended to appear as part of the wider site presentation. | Affects broader site layout; custom code and third-party widgets are added at the author’s risk. |
Troubleshoot a missing or broken player
- A playlist item is missing: Check whether that video is private or whether its uploader has disabled embedding. Use videos that viewers can access and that allow embedding.
- The player redirects to YouTube or playback is restricted: The video may be age-restricted, private, or otherwise unavailable for third-party playback. Check its visibility and access permissions; age-restricted videos may not play on most third-party sites.
- The player is wider than the post: Adjust the iframe’s width and height attributes, then preview the post again. The right values depend on the Blogger theme’s content area.
- Blogger reports mixed content: Find HTTP URLs in the post or theme HTML and change them to HTTPS where available.
- The privacy-enhanced player does not load: Confirm the embed is running inside the page, not by opening the player URL alone, and review YouTube’s HTTP referrer requirement.
Embedding playlists on a monetized blog
YouTube says occasional embedded videos on a blog that also carries general-purpose ads are acceptable. It warns against sites that do little more than aggregate embedded videos to intentionally generate ad revenue. See YouTube’s monetization and reused-content guidance.
