It is a plausible option if you also edit video or run more demanding OBS scenes—not a verified best-value pick or a tested 24/7 machine. This guide explains what to buy, how to configure and test a laptop-based stream, and when running it in the cloud may suit you better.
What matters most in a laptop for a 24/7 stream
A laptop broadcasting a prepared ASMR video has a narrower job than a gaming laptop: play or loop the media, assemble the OBS scene, encode it, and send it to YouTube. A quiet, stationary scene does not by itself require a high-end gaming GPU. The following are more useful purchase checks.
- Cooling and sustained operation: Prefer a laptop with unobstructed ventilation and a cooling design suited to sustained use. A model’s specifications do not prove how it performs after hours of streaming; look for credible sustained-load testing for the exact configuration, and test your own setup before leaving it unattended.
- Processor and memory: OBS lists a quad-core processor as recommended for 1080p streaming. Its download page lists 4 GB RAM as a minimum and 8 GB as recommended, but those are application requirements—not assurance of reliable continuous operation. For a new setup, 16 GB RAM and a modern processor are sensible working targets if OBS, a browser, monitoring, and creator tools will run together.
- Hardware encoder: Check that OBS and current drivers support the laptop’s encoder. OBS documents NVIDIA NVENC, AMD AMF, Intel Quick Sync, and Apple VideoToolbox. Hardware encoding moves work away from the CPU to a specialised component and can reduce CPU load.
- SSD and storage: An SSD is a practical choice for responsive playback and managing media. Check that the internal drive plus any external storage can hold your source recordings; the size needed depends on the files you plan to loop.
- Power, network, warranty, and repair: Consider how the laptop will stay powered and connected at its installation location, and whether service and repair are practical for you in India. A wired network connection, where available, can make the local connection more predictable, but it cannot prevent an ISP or power interruption.
OBS’s minimum requirements are not buying advice for a machine expected to stream continuously. Review the exact laptop configuration, encoder support, driver availability, warranty terms, and independent cooling evidence before paying.

Is the Lenovo LOQ 15IRX9 a good choice?
Lenovo India lists a LOQ 15IRX9 configuration with an Intel Core i5, 24 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, and RTX 4050 6 GB. That is a comfortably equipped example for someone who also edits video, uses complex scenes, or wants additional GPU headroom. For a static or lightly animated ASMR loop, it may be more graphics capability than the streaming task itself calls for.
The listed configuration is not a verified winner over other India-market laptops. A listed specification does not establish its cooling performance during an all-day stream, current price or availability, comparative reliability, or value for your budget. Confirm the exact SKU and current listing, and seek evidence about sustained thermals before treating it as a 24/7 solution.

Configure a laptop-based stream with OBS
Use this workflow for a prepared Hindi ASMR recording or playlist—not a live camera broadcast. YouTube’s recommendations vary with codec, resolution, and frame rate, so treat the figures below as starting points and check the current encoder guidance for your chosen setup.
- Prepare the media and scene. In OBS, add the recording as a media source and configure it to restart when playback ends if you want a single file to loop. For a playlist, add the files in the order you want and check the media-source playlist and loop controls in your installed OBS version. Build a simple scene first; verify that the video and Hindi audio play correctly, that transitions between files behave as intended, and that there are no unintended gaps or muted tracks.
- Connect the YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and obtain its stream key. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube if available, and connect the account or choose the stream-key option and enter the key. Keep the key private. Use RTMPS where offered; YouTube recommends RTMPS for encoder connections.
- Choose an output resolution and frame rate your connection can sustain. For H.264, YouTube currently recommends 14 Mbps for 1080p30 and 8 Mbps for 720p30. It also lists 17 Mbps for 1080p60 and 8 Mbps for 720p60. A quiet stationary image may need less data than fast movement, but that is an inference, not a YouTube guarantee. Start with the platform’s recommendation for your selected format, then test the actual stream rather than assuming the laptop or connection can sustain it.
- Set the encoder and rate control. In OBS, open Settings > Output and select an available supported hardware encoder if one is offered. YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR). Set the bitrate to a rate your measured upload connection can sustain, using YouTube’s codec- and format-specific guidance as your reference. Do not choose a bitrate simply because the laptop has a dedicated GPU.
- Set keyframes and audio. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. In OBS’s output settings, set the keyframe interval to two seconds if the field is available. Select an audio bitrate supported by YouTube’s current guidance for your chosen codec and setup, and listen for clipping, noise, or missing audio in a test recording and test stream.
- Test before relying on the stream. Start an unlisted test stream and include representative audio and movement, not just a still frame. Check YouTube Studio’s stream health and watch the stream from a separate device or browser. YouTube explicitly advises testing before going live. Confirm that looping works over a full cycle, the correct stream key is in use, and OBS reports no persistent connection or encoding problems.
- Make the laptop recoverable. Set sleep behavior so the laptop does not suspend while streaming, keep vents clear, and arrange power and network connections as they will be during operation. Test the complete sequence after an OBS restart and a laptop restart. Decide who can respond if the connection, power, media playback, or YouTube ingest fails.

Continuity risks a laptop cannot remove
A laptop stream depends on the whole local chain: the computer must remain powered and awake, the media and OBS scene must keep working, and the internet connection must remain available to YouTube. A hardware specification cannot promise uninterrupted service. If outages would be costly, consider whether backup power or a second internet path is practical at your location; there is no single India-wide reliability figure that can determine that decision for you.
- Heat or throttling: Ensure the vents are unobstructed and test for a representative period. If performance degrades, reduce unnecessary scene complexity and check cooling before leaving the system unattended.
- Sleep or restart: Review sleep and update-restart behavior, and test whether OBS and the media source resume as expected after a restart. Do not assume that a configured loop automatically resumes after every failure.
- Upload instability: Measure upload capacity at the stream location and test at the intended bitrate. If YouTube reports poor stream health, lower the output demand or address the network problem, then test again.
- Power or ISP interruption: A laptop battery is not a substitute for a tested long-duration backup plan. Decide what backup power or connectivity is appropriate locally and how you will know the stream has stopped.
- Audio or media failure: Check the full recording, source transitions, and audio path before going live. A live indicator alone does not confirm that viewers are receiving the intended content.
Copyright and YouTube channel considerations
Streaming a recording as a live broadcast does not make its music, visuals, or other material yours to use. Use audio and video you own or have permission to broadcast, and check the relevant licence terms—including whether they permit a continuous live stream and monetization if you plan to monetize. Keep documentation of permissions. YouTube’s copyright and monetization decisions depend on the content and channel; a laptop, loop setting, or live status does not guarantee approval or monetization.
