To loop Malayalam gospel songs on YouTube Live, add the locally stored, rights-cleared recordings to OBS’s VLC Video source, enable Loop Playlist, then send OBS to YouTube using an encoder stream URL and stream key. VLC must be installed on the computer running OBS; the workflow below covers a playlist of local files, not importing a YouTube Music or arbitrary YouTube playlist.
Before you start
- Install OBS and VLC on the computer that will run the stream. If OBS is 64-bit, install 64-bit VLC so OBS can detect it.
- Prepare the Malayalam gospel audio or video files you have permission to stream, and keep them accessible on that computer.
- Check that your YouTube channel is eligible for encoder streaming. YouTube says the channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days; confirm your current status in YouTube Studio.
OBS’s VLC Video source is designed for a playlist of media files. The official guidance does not establish a reliable way to import a YouTube Music playlist or an arbitrary YouTube playlist into that source.
Set up a looping song playlist in OBS
- Open OBS and select the scene that should appear on YouTube Live. Add any visual elements you want viewers to see, such as a still image or lyrics you have rights to use.
- In the Sources panel, select + and choose VLC Video. If that option is missing, install VLC and check that its architecture matches OBS (for example, 64-bit VLC for 64-bit OBS).
- Open the source properties and add the local song files to its playlist. Arrange them in the order you want them played.
- Enable Loop Playlist. Leave shuffle off for a fixed sequence; OBS documents shuffle as a separate option and it is off by default.
- Click OK, then test playback in the OBS preview. Confirm that each file advances and that the playlist starts again after the last item.
File compatibility depends on the media and system setup. Test the actual recordings in OBS before relying on them for a broadcast.
For one song, use Media Source instead
If you need to repeat only one local file, OBS’s built-in Media Source is a simpler option than a VLC playlist. Add a Media Source, select the file, and enable Loop in its properties. OBS lists formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, MP3, AAC and WAV; a listed format does not guarantee every specific file will play correctly, so test it first.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or select an encoder stream.
- In YouTube’s stream setup, copy the stream URL and stream key. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose the appropriate YouTube connection method, and enter the URL and key if prompted. Use RTMPS where available, as YouTube recommends.
- Treat the stream key like a password: it identifies where the encoder sends its feed and allows YouTube to accept it. Do not share it publicly.
- Start streaming from OBS, then check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before starting or publishing the event to viewers.
Choose settings for a stable broadcast
There is no single bitrate that suits every resolution, frame rate and internet connection. Follow YouTube’s current encoder guidance for the format you choose and make sure your upload connection can sustain the total stream bitrate. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond that total; this is planning guidance, not a guarantee that a connection will be stable.
As one specific example from YouTube’s encoder table, H.264 at 1080p and 30 fps has a recommended bitrate of 10 Mbps. That recommendation is not a requirement for every stream. Select a resolution and frame rate your source material and connection can sustain, then test them before the event.

Check music rights before going live
Being gospel music, appearing on YouTube, or being included in a playlist does not by itself establish that a recording is safe to rebroadcast. Confirm permission for each recording and its intended use. YouTube says it scans all live streams for matches to third-party content; it may replace a stream with a placeholder and warn the creator, and if the content remains, the stream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated.
Permission and YouTube’s Content ID handling are separate practical checks. YouTube says licensed third-party content may still interrupt a live stream unless the rights owner adds the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Ask the relevant owner about allowlisting when needed; a license alone should not be treated as proof that a live stream will avoid interruption.

Test and monitor the playlist stream
- Run a test with representative songs and video files. Check that audio is audible and balanced, the scene looks as intended, the playlist advances, and looping returns it to the beginning.
- Review the YouTube preview before the public event, and monitor stream health plus audio and video while broadcasting.
- Make sure the computer stays on, OBS remains open, and the internet connection remains available for the duration of a local OBS broadcast.
Troubleshooting
VLC Video is missing from OBS
Install VLC on the OBS computer, then restart OBS. If you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC; a mismatch can prevent the source from appearing.
The playlist stops at the last song
Open the VLC Video source properties and enable Loop Playlist. For a single-file Media Source, enable Loop instead.

Songs play in an unexpected order
Check the playlist order and turn off shuffle if you want a fixed sequence.
YouTube shows no preview or does not accept the feed
Confirm that OBS is using the stream URL and current stream key from the intended Live Control Room stream. Check channel eligibility and the YouTube preview before going live; do not expose the key while troubleshooting.

The live stream is interrupted after music starts
A third-party content match may trigger YouTube’s live-stream protections. Confirm the recording’s rights and, if licensed, ask the rights owner whether your channel needs to be added to its Content ID allowlist.
Video or audio stutters
Test at the selected resolution, frame rate and bitrate. Check the upload connection against the total bitrate and leave the 20% bandwidth headroom YouTube recommends. Reduce the stream demands if the connection cannot sustain them.
