To keep recorded Advent services available as a YouTube live stream around the clock, send the recordings through an encoder-based YouTube Live broadcast and arrange for the video source to keep playing. You can run that workflow yourself with an existing computer and encoder software, or use a cloud service. Before choosing, decide whether you need one continuous live player or dependable individual replays: YouTube warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be archived, and DVR may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours.

Choose how viewers should watch

“Around the clock” can mean a continuously available live player, separate scheduled services, or easy access to individual recordings. Those are different outcomes. A continuous live stream can remain available as a live feed, but it is not a dependable way to create one complete replay of a day’s programming.

Approach Best fit Archive and rewind What you need to operate it
StreamNeo — always-on from the cloud, any quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with the first day free A church that wants uploaded services to keep playing as a YouTube live stream without leaving a computer running Do not rely on a single over-12-hour live stream as a full archive or rewind window; keep source recordings Upload a recording or playlist, add the YouTube stream key once, then go live
One continuous encoder-based live stream A church prioritizing one live player that stays up around the clock YouTube says streams over 12 hours may not be captured; DVR may be limited or unavailable beyond 12 hours An encoder workflow with a source that keeps playing, plus someone responsible for monitoring and recovery
Shorter scheduled live sessions A church that wants distinct service windows and individual replays YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; keep a local recording as backup Plan who starts and ends each session, and check that each local and YouTube recording is available
On-demand uploads or playlists A church whose main goal is access to individual recorded services rather than a live feed Avoids relying on one long live archive; music and other rights still need to be cleared Upload the recordings and organize them for viewers; a live encoder is not implied

Prepare the recordings and clear the rights

Inventory every part of each service

For every recording, list the music, readings, sermon, graphics, video clips, and guest or performer material. Confirm that the church’s permissions cover streaming on YouTube and the intended use of an archive or rebroadcast. Rights depend on the actual agreements and the relevant jurisdiction; the platform’s general guidance cannot establish whether a particular church’s licenses are sufficient.

Do not assume music labeled “free” is cleared

YouTube warns that music described as free may still be flagged. It points creators to the YouTube Audio Library, original music, Creator Music in eligible regions, or third-party music whose license has been checked. Those options do not automatically establish that a church has the permissions it needs for a specific service, territory, stream, or replay. Review the actual license terms and obtain permission where needed before going live.

Check the channel and create the YouTube Live event

  1. Confirm eligibility in advance. YouTube’s live-stream setup guidance, accessed in 2026, says the channel must be verified, must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. Check the channel’s current status and Studio notices before scheduling; platform rules can change.
  2. Create or schedule the broadcast in YouTube Studio. Choose an encoder-based live workflow for a pre-recorded source. YouTube also lists mobile and webcam streaming, but those are not required for this prerecorded-service workflow.
  3. Connect the encoder using YouTube’s stream settings. Enter the stream URL and stream key provided for the event into the selected encoder. Treat the stream key as private: use it only in the intended encoder, and replace it in YouTube’s settings if it is exposed or shared accidentally.
  4. Set the video source to play the intended material. Prepare the service file or playlist in the playback or encoder software you selected. YouTube supports encoder streaming, but its help guidance does not endorse a particular playlist-looping application. Test the chosen software rather than assuming that a file or playlist will repeat correctly.
  5. Configure output for the source and current YouTube guidance. There is no single bitrate, resolution, frame rate, or keyframe interval that can be responsibly prescribed for every recording and encoder from the information here. Match the encoder’s output to the source and follow the current settings YouTube presents for your event and encoder. Avoid upscaling a lower-resolution recording merely to select a larger output setting.
  6. Start early and inspect the preview. Check that the event preview shows the expected picture and that the audio is present and intelligible before telling viewers the stream is ready.
  7. Check access and local recording. YouTube recommends checking that the event is reachable from the channel and watch pages and on mobile, checking local recording files, and monitoring audio and video quality. Keep a local copy of each source service.

Run the DIY broadcast and plan for interruptions

Before announcing a 24/7 feed

  • Play the source or playlist long enough to confirm it advances and repeats as intended without an unintended gap, black screen, or silent section.
  • Plan who will monitor the live event and what they will do if the source stops, the encoder disconnects, or YouTube interrupts the broadcast.
  • Test reconnection after a planned interruption. A test can show how your chosen setup behaves, but it is not a guarantee that YouTube or the encoder will recover automatically.
  • Confirm that a local recording is being written and can be opened. A live broadcast and a saved replay are separate deliverables.
  • Check the live player from common viewer devices and make sure the event is accessible where you intend to share it.

Decide whether to keep one stream live or end sessions

If the priority is a continuously available live player, one long broadcast may suit that goal, but YouTube says a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube separately warns that DVR may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. Do not promise a complete day-long YouTube replay or a full-day rewind window.

If a usable replay matters, schedule shorter sessions below the 12-hour threshold, end them deliberately, retain local files, and check that each YouTube archive exists after the event. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; it does not promise an archive for a stream lasting exactly 12 hours. Set the visibility of each replay intentionally.

Understand copyright checks and live-stream restrictions

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may replace the live image, interrupt the broadcast, or terminate it. YouTube says that if a church has licensed third-party content, the rights owner may need to add the channel to its allowlist; having a license alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. Archived live streams can also receive Content ID claims after they end.

The church remains responsible for having the rights needed for its live content, including music rights. YouTube’s live-stream terms place that responsibility on the content provider. Live streams must also comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and terms; YouTube lists copyright strikes and matches to copyrighted live broadcasts among reasons live-stream access can be restricted. Check current channel status and Studio notices before the event, and contact the relevant rights holder about allowlisting when applicable.

Use a dedicated encoder only if it fits your setup

YouTube recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events, but it also supports other streaming methods. A dedicated unit is an option if the church has chosen a hardware-based encoder workflow; the platform guidance does not make a particular encoder model or hardware purchase a requirement for rebroadcasting recordings. An existing computer and software setup may be enough for a church that can keep it running and monitor it.
