Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

To avoid preventable degradation at ingest, configure the outgoing feed—not just the source file—for 2160p60 HEVC, 35 Mbps video, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval, then test and monitor the stream.
What “without quality loss” can—and cannot—mean
A 4K60 HEVC file is the input to your workflow, not proof of what YouTube receives. Your playback and encoder setup decodes that file and sends a separate live feed. That outgoing feed can differ in resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate, or color settings. YouTube also transcodes live video into multiple output formats for different devices and networks, so matching the file at ingest cannot guarantee bit-for-bit playback for every viewer. The practical goal is to avoid unnecessary losses before and during ingest and verify the format YouTube detects. YouTube’s live encoder settings guidance explains its recommendations and platform processing.
Set the outgoing stream for 2160p60 HEVC
YouTube’s English-language live encoder guidance, consulted in 2026, lists these video bitrate figures for 2160p60. They are ingest recommendations, not viewer internet-speed requirements.
| Ingest codec | Minimum video bitrate | Recommended video bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| HEVC (H.265) or AV1 | 10 Mbps | 35 Mbps |
| H.264 (comparison) | 14 Mbps | 50 Mbps |
Use 35 Mbps as the target for 2160p60 HEVC. YouTube lists 10 Mbps as the minimum; a minimum is not the same as the recommended target. If your encoder only sends H.264, do not apply the HEVC figures: YouTube’s table gives H.264 a different recommendation.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Core video and transport settings
- Codec: H.265/HEVC. YouTube accepts it over RTMP/RTMPS.
- Resolution and frame rate: 2160p (4K) at 60 fps, provided the file, playout path, and encoder can all sustain that output.
- Video bitrate mode: CBR.
- Video bitrate: 35 Mbps for 2160p60 HEVC.
- Keyframe interval: 2 seconds. YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Protocol: RTMP or RTMPS; YouTube recommends RTMPS.
These settings describe the video ingest. Do not mistake the bitrate for a guarantee of picture quality: source quality, frame rate, encoding implementation, color format, and connection stability also affect the result.
Keep SDR and HDR settings separate
First determine whether your source is standard dynamic range (SDR) or high dynamic range (HDR). HEVC alone does not turn SDR material into HDR, and applying HDR metadata to SDR footage can produce incorrect color.

For SDR
YouTube’s advanced guidance recommends Rec. 709 color space and 8-bit color for SDR. Keep the encoder’s color settings consistent with the actual source rather than selecting HDR options because the codec is HEVC.
For HDR
YouTube’s HDR guidance requires HEVC and 10-bit video. The color primaries and transfer characteristics must match compatible HDR content: its guidance specifies BT.2020 primaries and PQ or HLG transfer characteristics. Check the source and the encoder’s HDR settings together; do not assume every HEVC file is HDR-compatible. See YouTube’s HDR streaming instructions for the supported path.

Prepare and test your prerecorded file
YouTube’s encoder directory describes a range of software, hardware, and cloud services, but a listing does not establish that each one can play a local file directly or send the exact HEVC 2160p60 settings you need. Choose a workflow that can play the file and confirm the outgoing stream format independently.
- Check the source. Confirm the file is actually 2160p at 60 fps and identify whether it is SDR or HDR. A 4K label alone does not establish frame rate, bit depth, or HDR format.
- Choose a playout and encoder path. For computer software, verify the operating system, software version, file-decoding support, and available hardware encoder. YouTube lists OBS as open-source streaming software; its HDR instructions describe choosing a hardware HEVC encoder and setting HDR-specific options. That does not establish that every computer or OBS setup can handle every 4K60 workflow. See the YouTube HDR instructions and YouTube encoder directory.
- Configure the outgoing feed. Set HEVC, 2160p60, 35 Mbps CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval. Select RTMPS if your encoder supports it. YouTube automatically detects encoder settings by default; manual resolution selection is available with a custom stream key, as described in its live encoder guidance.
- Connect the encoder to the event. Use the stream URL and stream key shown in YouTube Studio for the scheduled or active live event. Treat the key as a password: do not publish it, include it in a recording, or share it. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in Studio before streaming again.
- Run a representative test before the event. YouTube advises testing with audio and movement similar to the planned stream. Include fast motion, scene changes, and audio; test the intended HDR path as well if applicable. Check the detected resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate, and color handling rather than relying on the file’s properties alone.
- Monitor the live event. Watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators and messages while the feed is running. Correct encoder or connection problems before treating the event as a successful 4K60 delivery.
As alternatives, YouTube’s encoder directory describes Gyre as a cloud tool for 24/7 prerecorded-video streams, with Full HD and 4K at 30/60 fps and a built-in converter; check its current format support and settings before choosing it. The directory describes AWS Elemental MediaLive as a managed live-processing option supporting up to 4Kp60 HEVC, but does not establish it as a simple local-file playout service. Hardware listings also need scrutiny: a device described as supporting 2160p60 is not thereby confirmed to output HEVC or play prerecorded files directly. Verify each requirement with the provider before relying on a workflow.

Troubleshoot a stream that looks worse than the file
- YouTube does not detect 2160p60: The file’s resolution is not necessarily the outgoing feed’s resolution. Check the playout and encoder output settings and the format detected by YouTube. If you use a custom stream key, check its manual resolution selection.
- The feed is HEVC but the picture is soft or blocky: Confirm the encoder is sending 35 Mbps CBR for 2160p60, not merely playing a high-bitrate source file. Check for unstable upload or encoder warnings in stream health. YouTube’s 10 Mbps minimum is below its 35 Mbps recommendation for HEVC/AV1 at this resolution and frame rate.
- Motion judders or frame rate is lower than expected: Verify that the source, playout, and outgoing feed all support 60 fps. A 60 fps source cannot make a 30 fps output into 60 fps.
- Color looks washed out, clipped, or otherwise wrong: Check whether the source is SDR or HDR and match the corresponding color settings. For SDR, YouTube recommends Rec. 709 and 8-bit. For HDR, verify HEVC, 10-bit, BT.2020, and the matching PQ or HLG transfer characteristics.
- The stream health reports an issue: Read YouTube’s message, then check the encoder output and upload stability. Test again with representative movement and audio rather than assuming the file alone is responsible.
