In YouTube Studio, edit the source event and choose Customization > Redirect > Add. The sending channel needs more than 1,000 subscribers, no Community Guidelines strikes, and access to livestreaming; the destination Premiere should be created first.
Before you set up Live Redirect
Meet YouTube’s requirements for the sending channel
- YouTube requires the channel sending viewers to have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes.
- For livestreaming generally, YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Both general live access and Live Redirect’s separate sender requirements apply.
- YouTube lists Live Redirect for horizontal livestreams, not its vertical live feed. Check the source stream format before planning the handoff.
YouTube’s reviewed instructions do not specify a different eligibility threshold for Indian channels, so apply the same published requirements. YouTube Help’s Live Redirect instructions describe the feature requirements and workflow; its live-streaming overview covers general access and format.
Choose a destination and coordinate
Live Redirect can send viewers to a Premiere or a livestream on another channel. For a devotional music event, a Premiere might be a scheduled release or recorded session; a cross-channel redirect might hand viewers to a collaborator’s live program. These are destination examples, not evidence that a redirect increases views, retention, or revenue.
If you are sending viewers to another channel’s livestream, ask its owner to allow redirects from your channel. Agree on the handoff timing and make sure the destination is ready before ending the source event.

Set up a redirect from your livestream to a Premiere
- Create the destination Premiere first. YouTube’s advice is: “Set up your Premiere before setting up your live stream.”
- In YouTube Studio, click Content, then open the Live tab.
- Hover over the source livestream and click Edit.
- Open Customization. Under Redirect, click Add.
- Select the Premiere you created as the destination and save the event settings.
- When the source livestream ends, review YouTube’s confirmation that viewers will be redirected.
YouTube says autoplay takes viewers to the selected destination. Let your audience know in advance that the page may take a few seconds to reload after the livestream ends.
Set up a redirect to another channel’s livestream
- Contact the receiving channel and agree on the event and handoff time.
- Ask the receiving channel to permit your channel to redirect viewers to its livestream. The receiving channel controls this setting in YouTube Studio.
- In your Studio account, go to Content > Live, hover over your source livestream, and click Edit.
- Choose Customization, then click Add under Redirect.
- Search for and select the receiving channel’s livestream, then save the settings.
- At the end of your source stream, check YouTube’s redirect confirmation and tell viewers to wait a few seconds for the destination page to load.
Let other channels redirect viewers to your channel
If you want collaborators to send viewers to your livestream, configure who may redirect to your channel in YouTube Studio under Settings > Community. YouTube Help describes three choices: allow subscribed channels subject to the subscription-privacy condition, allow all channels, or allow specific approved channels. You can manually add up to 100 channels. Choose the policy that fits your collaboration and moderation preferences, then save it.

YouTube’s current Help page is the best reference for the present controls. TeamYouTube’s May 3, 2022 announcement explains the feature’s purpose and notes that channels of any size can receive redirects; it is a historical explanation rather than a current menu guide.
If the redirect option is unavailable or viewers do not move
- The sender does not meet the feature threshold: confirm the channel has more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes.
- The channel cannot livestream: check that it is verified and has not had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days.
- The source is vertical: YouTube lists Live Redirect for horizontal streams, not the vertical live feed. Use a horizontal source if the redirect feature is needed.
- The other channel’s livestream is not selectable: confirm that the receiving channel permits your channel to redirect viewers to it.
- The destination Premiere is missing: create it before configuring the livestream redirect.
- The audience remains on the ending stream briefly: tell viewers to wait a few seconds while YouTube reloads the page and autoplays the selected destination.
