To schedule a YouTube study-music livestream, open YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live > Manage > Schedule stream, set the event details, then connect an encoder with your YouTube stream URL and key at the scheduled time. Before saving, check which timezone the current livestream scheduler displays: YouTube’s published livestream instructions do not establish its timezone behavior. Tell viewers the start time in India-local time, and do not count on a single 24-hour broadcast producing a complete replay.
Check that your channel can go live
Before planning a continuous stream, confirm the channel is eligible. YouTube’s current getting-started guidance says the channel must be verified, must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16 years old. See YouTube’s live-streaming getting-started guidance for the current requirements.
Schedule the livestream in YouTube Studio
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live, then open Manage and choose Schedule stream. You can create a new stream or reuse settings from an earlier one. YouTube’s encoder-stream instructions describe this flow.
- Set the event details. Enter the title, description, visibility, and other event settings. Choose the date and start time with Indian viewers in mind. The official livestream instructions do not say which timezone the scheduling interface uses or establish that it offers a timezone selector. Check the timezone shown in your current Studio interface before saving; do not assume that the separate scheduled-video timezone controls apply to livestreams. YouTube’s scheduled-video instructions concern video publishing, not proof of livestream scheduler behavior.
- Copy the stream URL and key into your encoder. Treat the key like a password: keep it out of screenshots, public documents, and chat. YouTube allows a custom stream key to be reused, but use care if you share access to the encoder or channel.
- Start the encoder at the scheduled time. Once it is sending the feed, wait for the preview in Live Control Room. When the preview appears and the stream is ready, click Go live.
- Share the upcoming watch page. A scheduled stream can appear as an upcoming event, letting viewers visit its page and opt into a start notification. Share that URL and write the start time explicitly in India-local time, rather than making viewers infer it from an unspecified timezone. YouTube recommends keeping a consistent, sustainable schedule and telling viewers about changes.
Plan for continuous availability and a usable replay separately
A 24/7 live presence and a complete replay are different goals. YouTube says it can automatically archive livestreams shorter than 12 hours, and warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” This is an archive warning, not a statement that YouTube automatically ends every stream at 12 hours. YouTube’s archive guidance recommends keeping a local recording as a backup.
- For an always-available feed: plan how the stream will continue and how you will respond if the encoder or connection stops. The cited YouTube instructions do not prescribe a restart cadence.
- For a complete replay: make a local recording and decide whether to publish or segment it separately. Do not rely on the automatic archive for a broadcast longer than YouTube’s stated under-12-hour archive window.
- For predictable starts: schedule an upcoming event and communicate its India-local time, while checking the timezone actually displayed in the livestream scheduler.
Clear music rights for both live playback and archives
Only stream music you are authorized to retransmit. Confirm that the permission covers both the live transmission and any archived or on-demand version: YouTube’s guidance specifically distinguishes performance rights for live use and archive use. A license for ordinary personal listening does not by itself establish permission for a public livestream or replay. The stream must also comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. See YouTube’s music guidance for live streams.
