What businesses use live streaming for
Marketing, product launches, and demand generation
A live launch, demonstration, expert interview, or question session lets a business explain an offer while viewers can respond in real time. OneStream Live describes brand promotion, live selling, and product launches as use cases; Zoho Webinar lists marketing, product demonstrations, and virtual conferences. These are vendor descriptions of potential uses, not proof that a particular broadcast will generate leads or sales. OneStream Live’s business use cases and Zoho Webinar’s industries and use cases provide examples.
Customer education and support
Use a product walkthrough, workshop, customer seminar, or live Q&A to explain how something works and address questions. Zoho describes product demonstrations and training among its webinar uses, and customer care among the industries it serves. Plan a moderator or presenter to collect questions and keep the session on track, particularly if the audience is large.
Internal communications
All-hands meetings, leadership updates, and company events can reach employees across offices or time zones. Panopto describes live events for employee, partner, and customer audiences. Decide whether the stream is accessible to all staff or restricted, and how employees who cannot attend will receive the information afterward.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Training and onboarding
Live instruction can give distributed staff a shared session for demonstrations, questions, and guided practice. A recording can help people who missed the session or want to review it. Panopto describes training and onboarding alongside automatically recorded, captioned, searchable archives; those capabilities are part of its enterprise workflow, not a feature guaranteed by every streaming tool. Panopto’s solutions overview.
Events and conferences
Streaming a conference, workshop, or company event can extend attendance beyond the venue. Decide whether remote viewers are simply watching or should participate in questions, polls, or discussion. Switcher Studio includes live events among its use cases, and Zoho lists virtual conferences. Switcher Studio’s solutions.

Retail and live shopping
A presenter can show product details, compare options, and respond to buyer questions during a live broadcast. OneStream Live identifies retail and live selling as use cases. A stream can support the shopping experience, but it does not by itself establish that viewers will buy.
Education, community, and nonprofit programming
Online classes, community events, worship, and nonprofit programming can use live video to serve learning or organizational goals. These are adjacent applications rather than necessarily commercial business functions. OneStream Live and Switcher Studio list examples spanning such contexts, including online classes and church services. OneStream Live’s examples and Switcher Studio’s solutions.

What results can a business expect?
There is no broadly applicable, independent cross-industry outcome statistic established here that predicts results for a typical business stream. Platform observations and vendor descriptions should not be treated as guarantees.
LinkedIn’s article “The Power of Live Event Streaming in B2B Marketing,” published May 7, 2026, by Danielle Webb, Senior Product Marketing Manager at LinkedIn, reports that B2B organizations pairing LinkedIn Live with paid promotion experienced 131% higher click-through rates, a 19% improvement in post-event engagement rates, and a 1.5x higher likelihood of attendees engaging with future company marketing. These are LinkedIn-reported observations about that specific pairing—not an independent cross-industry study, a universal forecast, or proof that livestreaming alone caused the results. Choose a format that fits the audience
Before choosing software or a destination, settle the following decisions. They affect access, production, and what the viewer can do.
- Audience and access: Is the stream public, limited to registrants or customers, or internal to employees? Choose a destination and access controls suited to that audience.
- Interaction: A structured webinar or hosted event is a better fit when viewers need to ask questions or take part in a demonstration. A one-way broadcast may be sufficient for a straightforward announcement.
- Distribution and brand control: Multistreaming can reach viewers where they already watch; an embedded or branded player can keep the viewing experience on an organization’s own site. Confirm the selected platform supports the destinations and controls you require. OneStream Live describes multistreaming and branding-related use cases on its business streaming page.
- After-event value: Decide in advance whether to record, caption, organize, and make the event searchable on demand. A recording is more useful when viewers can find and navigate it later; availability of those functions depends on the platform and workflow.
- Operational fit: Match the format to staff capacity, production complexity, privacy needs, and available computer and network resources. OBS notes that system demands vary with encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity. OBS system requirements.
Prepare the production without overbuying
Use equipment to solve a real need
A webcam, dedicated microphone or headset, and basic lighting may help, depending on the room and equipment already available. They are not universal requirements. OBS supports webcam and microphone inputs and recommends testing the configuration before going live. A wired Ethernet connection is a practical option where available. See Zoho’s webinar equipment guide and OBS’s quick start guide.

Rehearse at the intended settings
OBS cautions that meeting its basic compatibility requirements alone does not ensure good streaming or recording performance. Processing needs depend on the encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity; 60-fps streaming can be more demanding than 30-fps. Test with the actual scenes and settings you intend to use, and verify audio, destination, and network stability. OBS system requirements and OBS quick start guide.
As LinkedIn’s Danielle Webb wrote in her May 7, 2026 article, “Taking time to test ahead of the event can help reduce day-of issues and support a more polished viewer experience.” This is practical guidance, not a promise of a particular outcome. LinkedIn article.
