YouTube Live Redirect can automatically send viewers from your ended livestream to a scheduled Premiere or another channel’s live stream—not to an ordinary uploaded video. Set it up in YouTube Studio before ending your stream. If your destination is a regular upload, use a different approach, such as mentioning its title or adding a video card to the replay.
Set up Live Redirect in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio, go to Content, and select the Live tab.
- Hover over the livestream you want to redirect viewers from and click Edit.
- Open Customization. Under Redirect, click Add.
- Choose a Premiere, or search for another channel’s live stream. The destination must be available to select; an upcoming Premiere or live stream may not appear if it is not scheduled or the receiving channel has not permitted your redirect.
- End the source stream. YouTube says a confirmation will appear that viewers will be redirected. Autoplay then moves them to the selected destination.
YouTube’s documented choices are a Premiere or another channel’s live stream. YouTube Help describes the automatic transition this way: “Once your live stream ends, autoplay will move your viewers to the Premiere or live stream of your choice.” See YouTube Help: How to use YouTube Live Redirect. Studio labels can change, so consult the current Help page if the options differ.
Check eligibility and destination permissions
Requirements for the channel sending viewers
As stated in YouTube Help, a creator setting up a redirect must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. These are platform eligibility rules and may change; check the current YouTube Live Redirect guidance if your channel cannot use the feature.
Permission from another channel
If you choose another channel’s live stream, that channel must allow your redirect. YouTube’s recipient settings include allowing channels it subscribes to, allowing all channels, or permitting only an approved list; YouTube Help says the manual list can include up to 100 channels. That limit and the settings are YouTube’s, not a requirement you can override from the sending channel.

A destination may be missing if it is neither live nor scheduled as an upcoming livestream or Premiere, or if its channel’s redirect settings do not allow you. TeamYouTube discussed these selection conditions in a May 3, 2022 announcement; use current YouTube Help for rules that may have changed.
If you want to send viewers to a regular uploaded video
Live Redirect does not provide an automatic end-of-stream route to any arbitrary upload. If the video can be presented as a Premiere, schedule that Premiere before your livestream and select it as the redirect destination. YouTube recommends setting up the Premiere first and telling viewers to wait a few seconds after the source stream ends while the screen reloads.

For a standard public upload, tell viewers its title or where to find it. Do not rely on posting its URL in Live Chat: YouTube’s live chat guidance says URLs are not allowed there. You can also add a video info card to the livestream replay when appropriate. YouTube says cards can link to public videos, but they are added in Studio’s video editor and are unavailable on videos marked made for kids. A card is a choice viewers make on the replay; it does not automatically transition viewers at the end of the live broadcast. See YouTube’s info card guidance and sharing links help.
