Short answer: StreamYard documents an automatic way to run a scheduled, pre-recorded video while you are offline. For a standard live studio show, scheduling does not start the broadcast: you must enter the studio and click Go Live. StreamYard’s setup guide does not say whether an already-live studio broadcast continues after you close the browser, so do not rely on that outcome without confirmation.
Choose the workflow that matches your stream

These are different workflows, not interchangeable ways to start the same kind of broadcast. StreamYard describes the automatic offline start for pre-recorded streaming in its Pre-recorded Streaming guide. Its standard live-stream setup guide requires entering the studio and clicking Go Live, but does not explicitly describe the browser-close outcome for a broadcast already in progress.
Run a scheduled pre-recorded video while offline
- Confirm that recorded video fits the show. This workflow plays a video prepared in advance; it is not a live studio session.
- Connect the intended YouTube channel and check eligibility. Channel owners, or managers and owners of a Brand Account, can connect a channel. YouTube has additional live-streaming restrictions, so confirm that the channel is eligible before scheduling. See StreamYard’s YouTube channel connection guidance.
- Schedule the video using StreamYard’s pre-recorded streaming workflow. Select the broadcast time and destination, then complete the scheduling steps in the product. The cited help guide confirms that a scheduled video starts at its chosen time while you are offline and stops when the video ends.
- Plan the presentation without relying on live studio controls. The scheduled pre-recorded stream is not controlled from a studio while it is running; account for the lack of live control over overlays and media assets.
StreamYard’s Help Center puts the key distinction plainly: “Once scheduled, the video will go live at the selected time—even if you’re not online to start the broadcast.” That statement applies to its pre-recorded workflow, not to a standard live studio show.
If you need a genuinely live studio show
Use the standard live workflow when you need the studio for a live, interactive broadcast. Schedule it if useful, but be present to enter the studio and click Go Live. Keep the studio available rather than closing its browser on the assumption that the broadcast will continue: StreamYard’s cited setup instructions do not confirm what happens after browser closure once a standard show is live.

If you are connecting an existing YouTube-created stream, StreamYard documents an RTMP option on paid plans. You still need to enter the studio and click Go Live, and YouTube comments will not appear in the StreamYard studio for this setup.
