StreamYard’s dedicated prerecorded-stream limits table lists Core at 10 GB and 2 hours, Advanced at 25 GB and 4 hours, and Teams and Business at 25 GB and 8 hours. Prerecorded streaming is not available on Free. There is an unresolved conflict for Advanced: two other StreamYard help pages state a 10 GB file limit instead of 25 GB. If that difference affects your plan or upload, check the limit shown in your account or confirm it with StreamYard support before relying on either figure.
StreamYard prerecorded-stream limits by plan
These limits apply to scheduling a prerecorded video to broadcast unattended. The dedicated limits table gives the following plan figures:

The table is a plan specification, not a guarantee that every file below the size and duration caps will upload successfully: format, encoding, bitrate, and upload conditions can also matter. The figures are from StreamYard’s official help material reviewed on October 3, 2026; plan features and limits may change.
Why the Advanced file-size limit is unclear
StreamYard’s dedicated limits table says Advanced supports files up to 25 GB. However, the FAQ in its prerecorded-stream guide and its recommended-formats page each say Advanced supports up to 10 GB. Those pages agree on the 4-hour duration limit but conflict on file size. The available official information does not establish whether one figure supersedes the others, so it would be misleading to present either Advanced size as certain.

- If you are deciding whether to subscribe, check the current plan details in your StreamYard account or ask StreamYard support which Advanced file-size cap applies.
- If you already have access, verify the limit in the upload flow before spending time preparing or uploading a file near either stated cap.
- Core, Teams, and Business do not have this same size conflict in the cited help pages: they agree on 10 GB for Core and 25 GB for Teams and Business.
What counts as a prerecorded stream
Scheduled prerecorded broadcast
For an unattended prerecorded broadcast, you select an uploaded video or a prior recording, choose destinations, set a scheduled time, and create the broadcast. It starts at the scheduled time and ends when the video finishes. The plan-specific size and duration limits above apply to this workflow.
Sharing a local video file in a live studio
Playing a file from your computer inside an active StreamYard studio is a separate feature, not a way around the scheduled-broadcast limits. StreamYard’s guide states that local video sharing has no file-size or length limit. It says MP4 and MOV work best, and notes that shared files are removed if you exit or refresh the studio. This workflow depends on an active studio session; it is not an unattended scheduled broadcast.

Video clips used as media assets
Clips added as media assets have their own limits and should not be confused with prerecorded-stream caps: the help page lists files under 200 MB and under 10 minutes, or up to 1.2 GB and 60 minutes on StreamYard Business.
Prepare a file for upload
Meeting a plan’s size and duration caps is only part of upload preparation. StreamYard’s recommended formats page lists MP4 and MOV as supported video-library formats, recommends H.264 video and AAC audio, and gives a maximum bitrate of 10 MB/s. Its optimization guide also recommends constant 30 fps, web optimization or faststart, and aligned audio and video.

- Container: Use MP4 or MOV for a video-library upload; MP4 is the format emphasized in the optimization recommendations.
- Video: H.264 is the recommended encoding. The optimization guide recommends constant 30 fps.
- Audio: AAC is recommended. Check that the audio and video remain aligned throughout the file.
- Bitrate: Keep within the stated maximum of 10 MB/s. This is a bitrate limit, not the maximum file size; do not confuse it with the GB plan cap.
- Web playback: Faststart/web optimization is recommended to help the file begin playing without waiting for the entire file to download.
Large files can take a long time to upload. StreamYard suggests compressing a file with a tool such as HandBrake if needed. Conversion can reduce upload size, but verify the resulting duration, audio, picture quality, and file size against your plan before uploading. These format and encoding recommendations do not replace the plan-specific caps.
Costs and workflow choices
For a scheduled prerecorded broadcast, first check whether your plan includes the feature, then compare the file-size and duration caps with the video you intend to schedule. If a video exceeds either cap, the choices are to use a plan whose stated limits fit it, shorten or compress the file, or use another workflow. Compression may reduce file size but will not reduce the video’s running time; editing or splitting it is needed to meet a duration cap.

If you only need to play a long local file during a live studio session, local video sharing is a different option, with the limitations described above. If your goal instead is to keep uploaded videos looping as a YouTube live stream, that is a separate use case and does not change StreamYard’s prerecorded-broadcast limits.
