Test upload speed, latency and packet loss on the network you will use, then try Ethernet, pause competing traffic and lower the outgoing resolution if needed. The official StreamYard guidance cited here is general: it does not establish a separate India-specific cause or identify a particular Indian ISP as responsible.
1. Check the connection you will actually stream on
Run a connection test on the same network you plan to use, as close as possible to your broadcast time. StreamYard recommends at least 5 Mbps upload, with 7 Mbps or higher preferred. Its guidance says latency above 100 ms can affect real-time streaming and packet loss should not exceed 2%. These are StreamYard troubleshooting recommendations, not guarantees that a stream will remain stable.
A strong speed-test result alone does not rule out trouble. StreamYard’s Help Center article “How Do I Test My Internet Speed?” notes that a connection can still be unstable despite high internet speeds; fluctuations and packet loss matter as well.
- Look at upload speed, latency and packet loss together rather than relying on download speed alone.
- Test again if conditions change—for example, when other people begin using the connection or a backup starts.
- For a controlled comparison, record the result before changing settings, then test again after each adjustment.
2. Stabilize your local network
Prefer a wired connection
If practical, connect the streaming computer directly to the router with Ethernet. A cable can avoid Wi-Fi interference between the computer and router, but it cannot fix an ISP outage or a problem farther upstream.

If you must use Wi-Fi
StreamYard recommends 5 GHz Wi-Fi, staying near the access point and keeping a clear line of sight. Move closer to the router if possible, and avoid placing obstacles between it and the computer.
Free bandwidth and restart the router
Pause large downloads and uploads, cloud backups, automatic updates, other streams, gaming, and other heavy network use during the broadcast. When network quality is poor, StreamYard recommends rebooting the router 10–15 minutes before going live, rather than waiting until the stream is already failing.

3. Lower the outgoing stream load if quality degrades
If the connection test is weak or the broadcast begins to degrade, reduce StreamYard’s outgoing camera resolution to 720p or 480p. A lower resolution can reduce demand on the connection; it cannot repair instability on the ISP’s network or upstream route.

These are StreamYard’s published settings, not a promise that selecting them will overcome a poor connection. If you change resolution, compare the result in a private or unlisted YouTube test broadcast before relying on it for a public stream.
4. Rule out the browser, computer and security settings
- Refresh the page and confirm that the computer still has internet access.
- Close extra browser tabs and apps that may use system resources or network bandwidth, then restart the browser and computer.
- Try a private or incognito window. If that helps, an extension, cached data or cookies may be involved.
- Test another supported browser or device. If the same setup works elsewhere, focus on the original browser or computer.
- Check whether a VPN, firewall, proxy or browser extension is interfering with the connection. Temporarily test without the suspected setting only if doing so is safe for your network and device.

5. Compare another network, device or guest
Try a different network or device and note whether the stream improves. Change one variable at a time where possible—network, device, browser or resolution—so you can identify what made a difference. StreamYard supports testing with a private or unlisted YouTube broadcast before making a stream public.
For a multi-person broadcast, each participant’s feed depends on that person’s own internet connection. If only a guest is freezing or dropping, ask them to test their network and device too; changing the host’s connection may not solve a guest-side problem.

6. Separate YouTube account errors from network drops
If StreamYard reports that it cannot connect to your YouTube account, treat that as an authorization issue rather than assuming the internet connection is dropping. Reconnect the YouTube account and confirm that StreamYard has the Google permission needed to manage the YouTube account.
If YouTube says livestreaming is unavailable, check the YouTube dashboard for channel restrictions or policy-related issues. A channel restriction and a StreamYard account-permission error are different from a network instability problem. StreamYard’s steps are in “YouTube Connection Errors”.
7. Troubleshoot by symptom

8. If it still disconnects
If instability persists after testing the local network, browser, device and an alternate connection, contact your internet service provider for further troubleshooting. The cited StreamYard guidance does not establish a distinct India-wide cause, identify a responsible Indian ISP or guarantee that any single change will fix an individual broadcast.
