For outside contributions, create an upload link rather than asking collaborators to send files through an informal route.
Set up folders inside your project
- In the project space, right-click and select New Folder.
- Choose whether downloads are allowed or whether the folder should remain private.
- Name the folder and select Create. Add subfolders when a category needs more detail.
A practical starting structure for a game video project might be folders such as Gameplay, Audio, Thumbnails, and Exports. That is an organizational suggestion, not a Streamlabs-prescribed taxonomy; choose names that match how you work.
Put media into the structure
Move files already in the project
Drag a file onto a folder to place it at that folder level. To select multiple items, the Streamlabs guide says to hold Shift and Command/Control while clicking. To copy a folder or multiple files elsewhere in your account, open the folder’s three-dot menu and choose Copy To.
Upload files or a pre-organized folder
You can add media by dragging it from your computer into the project, selecting the plus sign next to Media, or right-clicking and choosing Add Media. If your files are already arranged in a local folder hierarchy, upload that folder: Streamlabs says the folder structure is retained automatically. Upload processing runs in the background and can be paused or canceled.

Choose individual uploads when you want to sort files into the project as you add them. Upload a local folder when its existing hierarchy is already useful and you want to keep it.
Browse, sort, and search for assets
Use the view and sort controls for scanning
Switch between list and tile views with the view control. The documented sort options are date, name, file, and folder. Use whichever makes the current task easiest—for example, name when looking for a known asset alphabetically, or date when locating recent uploads.

Use Jump To when you know what you need
The Jump To bar at the top left of the project view searches for a project or file within your account. It is useful when navigating folders manually is slower than searching for a known name.
Collect media from collaborators
- Open the project’s Upload Links tab and create an upload link.
- Set an expiration date and passphrase if you want those access controls.
- Share the link with contributors so they can add project media.
- When a link is no longer needed, deactivate it or delete it. Existing links can be activated or deactivated.
Upload links collect contributions; they do not replace your folder structure or sorting choices. After files arrive, place them in the appropriate project folders so they remain easy to find.

Keep the system maintainable
- Use a small set of top-level folders, adding subfolders only when they make browsing clearer.
- Choose folder and file names that are distinct enough to recognize in search results.
- Decide whether to upload a whole local folder or individual files before starting, based on whether you want to preserve the existing hierarchy.
- Use upload-link expiration and passphrases deliberately when gathering files from outside contributors.
Streamlabs’ official support pages for media management and uploads are dated April 20, 2023 and state that they were last updated September 5, 2025. Interface labels may change, so if a control differs in your current editor, use the corresponding project media or upload controls.
