Connect and check your HDMI sources, choose one route, configure the platform credentials for that route, and test the stream before going live.
What you need
- An ATEM Mini Pro and its supplied power supply.
- One or more HDMI sources, such as cameras or a computer, and the required HDMI cables.
- For direct streaming: an Ethernet cable and a router with internet access.
- For computer streaming: a computer with streaming software such as OBS and a USB-C connection to the switcher.
- A platform account and its current streaming setup information, including a stream key when required.
The ATEM Mini Pro has four standards-converted HDMI inputs, USB webcam output, Ethernet, multiview, direct streaming and direct recording. Confirm that each source’s video output format is suitable for your production and check Blackmagic Design’s current documentation for the software and firmware version you use.
Connect your sources and monitor them
- Connect the supplied power supply and turn on the ATEM Mini Pro.
- Connect your HDMI sources to the switcher’s HDMI inputs. Press an input button to put that source on the program output.
- Connect a display to HDMI out. Press M/V on the switcher to show multiview. Use it to check the source feeds, preview and program, and on-screen status indicators before and during the stream.
Multiview is an operator’s monitoring display, not a separate streaming path. Check that the intended source appears correctly before you send it live.
Choose how to stream

These are alternative workflows; you do not need to use both to send a stream. Blackmagic’s specifications list RTMP and SRT direct streaming support. Check current platform and firmware guidance for the configuration you plan to use.

Method 1: Stream directly over Ethernet
- Connect the ATEM Mini Pro’s Ethernet port to your internet router with a CAT 5 network cable.
- Open ATEM Software Control and go to its output settings. Select the streaming platform, choose a server, and enter the stream key issued by that platform. Interface labels and platform procedures may change, so check the current ATEM manual and platform instructions.
- Before using a camera feed, test with color bars or a standby graphic. Start the stream and confirm that it appears as expected on the platform.
- When the video and audio are ready and the platform is receiving the stream, take the production live using the on-air control as directed by the current software and manual.
Treat the stream key as a password: use the key for the intended broadcast, do not show it on screen, and replace it through the platform if it is exposed. A test broadcast helps catch a wrong key, server selection or network connection before viewers arrive.
Method 2: Use the ATEM Mini Pro with OBS or other computer software
- Connect the ATEM Mini Pro to the computer using USB-C.
- Open OBS or your chosen streaming software and select the ATEM Mini Pro as the webcam or video capture source. The switcher presents its output to the computer as a webcam source.
- Configure the platform connection in the streaming software using the platform’s current instructions and credentials.
- Check the selected source, audio and program image in the software preview. Run a private or otherwise appropriate test before starting a public broadcast.
This path lets the computer’s streaming software manage scenes and overlays. The stream depends on the computer and the software workflow, unlike direct Ethernet streaming from the switcher.

Record a local copy
The ATEM Mini Pro can record H.264 MP4 video with AAC audio to external media connected over USB-C. Blackmagic Design lists exFAT and HFS+ media support. Connect a compatible drive and press REC to start recording, as described in the getting-started guide. Check the current Blackmagic documentation for media compatibility and available space before relying on a drive for an important recording.
Platform, copyright and content checks
- Use video, music and other material you have rights to use in a live broadcast. Platform policies and enforcement apply to live streams as well as uploaded videos.
- Confirm the platform’s current live-streaming eligibility, account settings and stream-key workflow before the event; these requirements and interface steps can change.
- Do not assume that owning or possessing a recording gives you permission to rebroadcast it. Check rights for every video, soundtrack and other included material.
- Review the finished program feed in multiview and the streaming software or platform preview before going on air.
Troubleshooting
