To use Streamlabs Cloudbot on YouTube Live, enable it in the Streamlabs dashboard, add Streamlabs as a moderator in YouTube Studio, then configure commands and moderation. Streamlabs says the YouTube stream must be public for Cloudbot to join and respond.
Before you set up Cloudbot
Sign in to Streamlabs and the Google account that manages your YouTube channel. If you use more than one supported streaming platform, Streamlabs’ quick guide recommends linking your channels under Account Settings > Platforms. For YouTube, the key permission is adding Streamlabs as a moderator in YouTube Studio.
Enable Cloudbot and connect it to YouTube chat
- Open Cloudbot in Streamlabs. In the Streamlabs web dashboard, open Cloudbot and select Enable Cloudbot.
- Make Streamlabs a YouTube moderator. In YouTube Studio, go to Settings > Community and add the Streamlabs channel named in Streamlabs’ setup instructions as a moderator. This gives the bot the channel permission it needs to participate in chat.
- Use a public stream to test it. Start or schedule a public YouTube live stream and check the chat. Streamlabs’ troubleshooting guidance says private and unlisted streams do not meet the public-stream requirement for Cloudbot to join and trigger commands.

Configure chat commands
Turn on built-in commands
In the Streamlabs dashboard, open Commands. Review the default commands and enable only the ones useful to your channel. You can edit their responses and permissions. A command may be available to all viewers or restricted to moderators, so check the permission setting for each one.

Create a custom command
Use the Custom tab under Commands to add a command with your own response. Streamlabs supports custom text, templates, and variables. Choose a memorable trigger, write a response that fits your channel, and set who can use it. For example, a game channel might create a command that points viewers to its schedule or explains the current game; the exact response is yours to write.
For a command that does not fire, verify that it is enabled, that the trigger is typed exactly as configured, and that the chatter meets its permission requirements. Also check whether the command has a cooldown or requires loyalty points. Streamlabs’ commands guide covers adding commands for YouTube and Twitch.

Choose moderation protections
Open Mod Tools in Cloudbot. You can choose a Protection Level preset or switch on individual protections, such as controls for caps and links. Adjust each tool’s strictness to suit your chat: stricter filters can reduce unwanted messages but may also catch legitimate viewer posts. Review how a setting behaves before applying it broadly.
Add timers, loyalty features, or media sharing
Timers for scheduled messages
Timers can post reminders or other messages at intervals, subject to a minimum chat-line condition. Enable a timer, choose its interval and line minimum, and use chat activity to confirm it posts. Streamlabs says the line minimum is calculated from chat messages in the preceding five minutes. If the timer stays quiet, confirm it is enabled and that both conditions have been met. Loyalty and rewards
Cloudbot also offers viewer loyalty and reward features. These are optional additions, not prerequisites for commands or basic moderation. Configure them only if you want viewers to earn or use channel rewards.
Media sharing and requests
Cloudbot can be configured for viewer song or video requests. Before enabling requests, decide how much control you want over what enters the queue. Streamlabs’ media-sharing settings include a protection level, queue limit, maximum duration, per-user request limit, skip votes, and a music-only option. Set these deliberately and review requested content before it reaches your stream; a moderation bot does not establish that media is safe to broadcast or that you have the rights to use it. Troubleshoot Cloudbot on YouTube
