Schedule an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, then use OBS Studio’s VLC Video source to play and loop your prerecorded files. OBS sends the feed; in YouTube’s Live Control Room, check the preview and select Go live.
What YouTube scheduling does—and what it doesn’t
A scheduled YouTube live event creates the event and its watch page. It does not supply or repeat the video. For a prerecorded playlist, the encoder must send YouTube a live feed, and the playlist loop must be configured in that encoder.
YouTube’s viewer-side loop control repeats playback for someone watching a video or playlist; it is not a way to broadcast that playlist as a live stream. The software workflow below uses YouTube Studio to schedule the event and OBS Studio with VLC to supply and loop the media.
Before you schedule
Check channel eligibility
YouTube’s live-streaming guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Its general guidance says streamers must be at least 16. Check the current requirements for your channel before preparing the event: YouTube live-streaming eligibility.

Confirm rights and policy compliance
Make sure you have the rights needed for every video and audio track, including music, and that the content complies with YouTube’s Community Guidelines. YouTube’s terms state: “The Live Content must comply with the YouTube Community Guidelines.” Review YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions before leaving a stream running for an extended period.
Prepare the files and software
Install OBS Studio and VLC, and make sure the files you intend to play are available on the computer running OBS. OBS requires VLC for its VLC Video source. For 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC. The VLC Video source supports playlists and has a dedicated Loop Playlist setting; OBS documents the source and its controls at OBS Media Sources.

Schedule and loop the playlist with OBS

Schedule the event in YouTube Studio
Open YouTube Studio and select Create → Go Live. Choose Manage, then Schedule stream. Enter the event details and choose its privacy setting. A scheduled stream may appear as upcoming in subscribers’ feeds, where viewers can opt to receive a notification. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions and live-stream settings guidance.

Add the playlist in OBS
In OBS, add a VLC Video source to the scene you want to broadcast. Add the local video files in the order you want them played, then enable Loop Playlist. The source loops the playlist in OBS; it does not create a YouTube event. If you are broadcasting a single file rather than a playlist, OBS’s standard Media Source has a separate Loop setting.

Connect OBS to the scheduled stream
Open the scheduled event’s stream settings in YouTube Studio and copy its stream URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings. If YouTube is available as an OBS service, you can select it there and enter the key. The key authorizes the encoder to send its feed to the stream, so treat it like a password: don’t share it or publish it. Keep the scheduled event and the OBS feed matched. YouTube explains stream keys and connection setup in its encoder setup guide.

Send the feed, preview it, and start the event
Start streaming from OBS. Wait for the incoming feed to appear in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room preview, check that the video and audio are correct, and then select Go live. Scheduling a watch page alone does not start the broadcast: OBS must send content, and you must start the event in the Live Control Room. When finished, end the event in YouTube Studio and stop the OBS feed. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; this is an archive threshold, not a promise that every longer stream will be archived. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
