The best Restream alternative depends on what you need beyond sending one live feed to several platforms. Choose StreamYard for a browser-based studio and guest interviews, OBS Studio for free local production control, Castr when video hosting and embeds matter, OneStream Live or Livepush for scheduled and pre-recorded broadcasts, and Switchboard Live for organizational distribution. If you need uploaded videos to keep a YouTube channel live around the clock, rather than multistreaming a camera or gaming session, StreamNeo is the focused alternative: it runs in the cloud, supports uploaded video up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day.
What Restream does—and what to compare
Restream combines multistream distribution with a browser Studio. Its listed features include integrations for encoders such as OBS and Zoom, custom RTMP destinations, cross-platform chat, stream health monitoring, cloud recording, and browser-based production. Its pricing page currently lists simultaneous channel limits of 2, 3, 5, and 8 across Free, Standard, Professional, and Business, respectively, with custom arrangements for Enterprise; these are plan limits displayed on Restream’s page accessed October 3, 2026, and may change. Check Restream’s pricing plans for the current offer and restrictions.
Alternatives are not interchangeable. Before choosing, decide how many destinations must receive the broadcast at once, whether you need a browser studio and guest links or local scene control, and whether you need live-only distribution, scheduled or pre-recorded video, 24/7 playback, recording, VOD hosting, or an embeddable player. Then compare the specific plan’s channel allowance, storage and recording terms, team controls, and setup requirements—not just its starting price.
Best alternatives by workflow
StreamNeo: uploaded videos on a 24/7 YouTube channel
StreamNeo serves a different use case from a conventional multistream relay: it loops videos you upload to keep a YouTube channel live, rather than broadcasting a camera or sending a live gaming session to several platforms. It is the first option to consider when the goal is an always-on YouTube stream without leaving a computer running. Each slot supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at the same flat price, runs from the cloud, and can recover automatically if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account.

StreamYard: browser studio and guest interviews
StreamYard is a browser-based production room suited to creators who want guest links, overlays, and multistream workflows without building a local production setup. Its destination limits, recording terms, and prices depend on its current plan; check the StreamYard plans and pricing page before deciding. Comparison claims published by StreamYard itself should be treated as vendor descriptions, not independent evaluations.
OBS Studio: free software and local production control
OBS Studio is desktop software, not a cloud relay service. It is the better fit if you want local scene and encoder control and are prepared to manage the broadcast from your own device. Sending one production to multiple destinations may require a plugin or separate outputs, so configuration, computer workload, stream-key handling, and upload capacity fall more heavily on you than with a cloud relay. Requirements vary with resolution, frame rate, encoder, and setup; there is no single hardware or bandwidth threshold that applies to every OBS multistream configuration. Castr: video hosting and embeds
Castr may suit a workflow that combines multistreaming with VOD hosting, cloud recordings, or website embeds. Restream’s comparison describes Castr as requiring a third-party encoder and discusses tier-based destination limits. Those are descriptions from a competing vendor, so confirm current features, encoder requirements, destination limits, and plan terms directly with Castr before choosing. See Restream’s alternative comparison for the cited capability description.
OneStream Live and Livepush: scheduled or pre-recorded broadcasts
OneStream Live is described by Restream as supporting live and pre-recorded streams, scheduling, and embeds. Livepush describes scheduled and pre-recorded streams and a hosted player. These options are worth examining if you need to prepare broadcasts ahead of time rather than start each one manually. The descriptions come from vendor-published comparisons, and plan limits and features can change; verify the current offer with each provider. Livepush’s own comparison labels its listed prices approximate. The relevant descriptions are in Restream’s comparison and Livepush’s alternatives article.

Switchboard Live: distribution for organizations
Switchboard Live is positioned in vendor comparisons for agencies and professional teams distributing to many destinations. Upstream’s comparison reports unlimited RTMP/RTMPS destinations and prices checked in June 2026, but that is a dated report from another vendor that also sells a competing service—not a current guarantee. Confirm destination arrangements, pricing, and team features with Switchboard before purchasing. See Upstream’s alternatives comparison for the dated comparison.
Upstream: scheduled, cloud, and always-on workflows
Upstream’s own comparison describes scheduled and pre-recorded streams, 24/7 operation, backup, a browser live studio, and multistreaming. Because those claims come from Upstream, treat them as the vendor’s stated capabilities and verify that the features and plan terms meet your needs. Its article says pricing was checked in June 2026; that date should not be mistaken for a current quote. See Upstream’s alternatives comparison.

How to narrow the shortlist
- Count destinations. Write down every platform that must receive the same broadcast simultaneously. Compare that count with the current plan limit, not just the service’s headline description. Restream’s currently displayed tiers list 2, 3, 5, and 8 channels across Free through Business; check its pricing page for changes and tier conditions.
- Choose the production location. A browser studio is useful for guest interviews and quick productions. OBS favors local scenes and encoder control, but uses your device and connection. A cloud relay moves distribution away from your local production computer; it does not necessarily replace the encoder or studio you prefer.
- Decide whether the content is live or pre-recorded. For a live camera or game feed, compare multistream destinations and studio or encoder features. For scheduled videos, playback loops, or 24/7 operation, confirm explicit support for those workflows; ordinary multistreaming alone does not establish it.
- Check the full plan. Confirm destination count, recording duration and storage, video hosting, embed support, team permissions, and any restrictions on free tiers. Exact prices and limits for StreamYard, Castr, OneStream Live, and Livepush vary by plan and should be checked on current provider pages rather than inferred from comparisons.
- Account for operational work. Local software requires configuration, careful stream-key management, and sufficient device and upload capacity for the specific setup. Cloud services reduce some local workload, but still require checking supported destinations, plan limits, and team controls.
Copyright and platform-policy checks
Multistreaming tools distribute a broadcast; they do not grant rights to the video, music, game footage, or other material in it. Confirm that you have the necessary rights for every destination and review the relevant platform’s current live-stream and reused-content rules. This matters especially for scheduled, pre-recorded, or looping broadcasts: permission to use a track or clip in one context may not cover repeated or continuous streaming. Keep records of licenses and permissions, and do not assume that changing the tool changes your obligations.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a 24/7 YouTube channel built from uploaded videos, StreamNeo keeps the loop running without a computer or home connection staying on. Upload a recording or make a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the monthly option is $9.99 per month. Start the free StreamNeo day.
