If you need programs to begin at particular times or dates, use TV Playout instead: it schedules a channel timetable rather than simply repeating a playlist.
Choose the right Castr workflow

Use Pre-Recorded Stream Loop if you want the same sequence to repeat. Use TV Playout if the order must follow a timetable—for example, a program at a set hour, followed by a planned gap and another program.
Set up a continuous loop with Pre-Recorded Streams
- Open the feature: In Castr Dashboard, go to Pre-Recorded Streams and create a new stream.
- Add videos: Upload your MP4 files or select recorded videos already in your Castr library. Castr’s guide says MP4 is currently supported for this workflow.
- Arrange the playlist: Reorder the videos and disable any individual entries you do not want included. Castr says the total duration updates as you change the playlist.
- Select the loop mode: Choose Loop for continuous playback. Castr’s scheduling-mode guide says Infinite Loop starts immediately once enabled; do not treat it as a future scheduled start.
- Connect YouTube: Add YouTube as the destination, authenticate or select the saved platform, and make sure its toggle is on. Castr’s YouTube instructions describe using YouTube Events and choosing either a new event or an existing one.
- Start and verify: Start the stream, then check that the chosen YouTube destination is receiving it. Account-specific eligibility or readiness is not established by Castr’s workflow guide, so check your channel in YouTube Studio if the destination is unavailable.
Castr’s Pre-Recorded Streams setup guide is dated July 8, 2026. Its YouTube-specific instructional article was originally published December 21, 2024 and updated March 24, 2026; if dashboard labels differ, follow the current labels displayed in your account.
Use TV Playout for a timed channel schedule
TV Playout is the better fit when a continuous channel needs a lineup across dates, timed starts, live inserts, or intentional breaks. Castr’s setup guide describes creating a Livestream destination first, choosing Schedule or Loop, setting the broadcast date and time, and then adding content.

- Create the destination: Set up a Livestream destination that can deliver to YouTube.
- Choose a mode and timing: Select Schedule or Loop, then set the broadcast date and time. Schedule plays items consecutively; Loop repeats a playlist and requires an end date.
- Build the lineup: Add VOD files, Live-to-VOD items, livestreams, and, if needed, breaks.
- Plan exact program starts: To hold a gap until a specific start time, use a break to fill the interval, then click Set Schedule. Castr’s scheduling guide gives an example of ending the break one second before the next program’s target start. Breaks must be at least two minutes.
- Check and apply: Verify the displayed schedule and time zone before activation. After changing an active schedule, apply the changes with Set Schedule.
Castr says the item currently on air cannot be replaced or moved while live. Plan edits to the rest of the lineup with that restriction in mind.

Pre-Recorded Stream limits
Castr’s current product page lists two files per stream on Starter and Standard, ten on Premium, and fifteen on Ultra; it says infinite looping is available on Premium and higher. File-size and number-of-file limits vary by subscription. These are Castr-published plan details displayed as of October 3, 2026, not independent performance measurements; check the current plan terms before subscribing because limits can change.

TV Playout limits
TV Playout has separate limits and should not be confused with Pre-Recorded Stream limits. Castr’s product page lists loop periods of up to 15 days ahead on Premium and up to 30 days on Ultra and Events; it directs longer runs to sales. The maximum loop length and files per playout depend on the plan, so verify the terms for the feature you intend to use.
Time zone and activation
Castr’s Pre-Recorded scheduling guide says the scheduler uses the device’s time zone. Check the device zone as well as the start time shown in the dashboard. For TV Playout, the channel requires a start date, destination, and at least one timetable item; edits to an active schedule must be applied using Set Schedule.

Troubleshoot common setup problems
- The playlist does not repeat: Check that you selected Loop, rather than a one-time scheduled mode, and that your subscription includes looping for Pre-Recorded Streams.
- A video is missing or cannot be added: Confirm it is an MP4 for the documented Pre-Recorded Stream workflow, and check your plan’s file-count, size, and duration limits.
- The broadcast starts at the wrong time: Check the device time zone against the scheduled time shown in Castr. For timed TV Playout items, confirm the breaks fill the intended gaps and apply the lineup with Set Schedule.
- YouTube is not receiving the stream: Confirm YouTube is connected as the destination and its toggle is enabled. For Castr’s YouTube Events route, confirm the selected event is the intended new or existing event. Check account readiness in YouTube Studio; individual-channel eligibility is not established by the Castr setup material.
- You cannot edit the current TV Playout item: Castr says the item currently on air cannot be moved or replaced while live. Make permitted schedule changes to other items and apply them with Set Schedule.
