Streamlabs’ free Dual Output supports one vertical and one horizontal destination; streaming to three or more destinations, or to multiple destinations with the same orientation, requires Streamlabs Ultra, according to Streamlabs’ current support guidance.
Set up multistreaming in Streamlabs Desktop
- Open stream settings. In Streamlabs Desktop, go to Settings → Stream.
- Connect your destinations. Link the platform accounts you want to use, or add destinations from the stream settings. Streamlabs’ Desktop Multistream Quick Setup Guide describes connecting accounts and adding destinations here.
- Select destinations for this broadcast. Open Go Live and switch on the platforms you want to receive this session. Connecting an account does not by itself select it for every broadcast.
- Enter stream details. Add the title and description, then complete any destination-specific fields. Categories can differ by platform; advanced settings may expose per-platform details such as Twitch tags.
- Review and start. Confirm the destinations and their information, then choose Confirm and Go Live. Streamlabs’ guide documents this sequence; available fields may differ by destination.
Streamlabs says its multistream feature is available through Streamlabs Desktop, its OBS Plugin, and other software configured in the Streamlabs Dashboard with a custom RTMP URL and stream key. This guide focuses on Desktop; the other methods use different setup paths. See Streamlabs Multistream for its current overview.
What the free plan allows—and when Ultra is needed
Streamlabs describes free Dual Output as allowing two destinations at once, provided one is vertical and the other horizontal. Its example is TikTok in vertical format and YouTube in horizontal format. The free allowance is therefore not an unrestricted two-platform option: two destinations with the same orientation fall outside the described free combination.
Streamlabs’ How to Multistream for Free guide says Ultra is required for three or more destinations, or for multiple destinations with the same orientation. The Ultra plan page displayed a starting price of $15.75 per month when checked on 2026-10-03; this is a vendor-listed price and may change, so check Streamlabs Ultra for current pricing and billing terms before subscribing.

Choose destinations and check account access
Streamlabs’ current product page lists Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, Kick, Facebook, Instagram, Patreon, X, and additional destinations via custom RTMP connections. A listed destination is not proof that every account can go live: Streamlabs’ setup sources say TikTok LIVE requires approval for live streaming. Check each platform account’s live permissions and destination requirements before planning a broadcast; a complete eligibility or regional-rules matrix for all listed platforms is not established by those sources.
How routing affects your PC and chat
Streamlabs describes its cloud routing as sending one output from your PC to Streamlabs’ servers, which then forward feeds to the selected destinations. It says this avoids the extra PC upload bandwidth that can arise when a local tool separately encodes and uploads each destination. That is Streamlabs’ description of its service architecture, not an independent performance test or a guarantee for a particular connection.

Streamlabs distinguishes the outputs used by its free Dual Output—one horizontal and one vertical—from its cloud-routed multistream service. Check the specific mode and destination setup in the app rather than assuming every configuration uses the same output or routing behavior.
Chat actions also vary by platform. Streamlabs’ current page says users can read and post comments for YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook Pages; it describes read-only chat for Kick, X, and Facebook Profiles. Confirm the intended platform and action in the app before relying on cross-platform chat, because support descriptions can change.

Troubleshoot a multistream setup
- A destination is missing or cannot be selected: Return to Settings → Stream and confirm the platform account is connected and the destination has been added. Check that the account is allowed to go live, especially for TikTok LIVE, which Streamlabs says requires approval.
- Streamlabs prompts you to upgrade: Check both the number of destinations and their orientations. Free Dual Output covers one vertical plus one horizontal destination; three or more destinations or multiple of the same orientation require Ultra under Streamlabs’ support guidance.
- A destination’s title, category, or tags are wrong: Reopen the Go Live details and review fields for each platform separately. Categories and advanced metadata may not be shared across destinations.
- You expect chat to post everywhere: Verify the exact read/post support for that destination in Streamlabs’ current product information and in the app. The documented actions differ by platform and account type.
- The live broadcast does not start: Recheck selected destinations, required per-platform details, and account live permissions, then retry the confirmation step. If using a custom RTMP destination outside the standard Desktop account connection, verify its URL and stream key in the Streamlabs Dashboard.
