Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →As of October 3, 2026, the standard YouTube Partner Program (YPP) threshold for ad and YouTube Premium revenue is 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the previous 12 months or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the previous 90 days. In regions where expanded YPP is available, eligible creators can apply earlier for certain fan-funding and Shopping features at 500 subscribers, three valid public uploads in the previous 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public watch hours or 3 million qualified public Shorts views. Neither threshold guarantees acceptance: YouTube reviews the channel against its monetization policies.
YPP eligibility at a glance
There are two relevant entry levels. Expanded YPP can open certain features before a channel qualifies for ad revenue sharing; the higher standard threshold applies to Watch Page Ads, Shorts Feed Ads, and YouTube Premium revenue sharing. The figures below are YouTube program requirements, not independent statistics. YouTube’s YPP overview and expanded YPP guidance describe the thresholds and application process.
| Route | Subscribers | Watch-hour route | Shorts route | Recent uploads | What it can unlock |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Expanded YPP, where available | 500 | 3,000 qualified public watch hours in the previous 12 months | 3 million qualified public Shorts views in the previous 90 days | At least 3 valid public uploads in the previous 90 days | Earlier access to eligible fan-funding and Shopping features; availability and feature-specific conditions apply. |
| Standard YPP threshold | 1,000 | 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the previous 12 months | 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the previous 90 days | No additional recent-upload requirement stated for this threshold | Eligibility to apply for Watch Page Ads, Shorts Feed Ads, and YouTube Premium revenue sharing. |
The alternatives in each row are alternatives: a channel needs the subscriber threshold and either the watch-hour route or the Shorts-view route. Watch time from views in the Shorts Feed does not count toward the 4,000-hour requirement. Check YouTube’s feature eligibility guide for the feature-specific requirements that apply to a particular account.
What else a channel needs
Reaching the relevant numeric threshold is only one part of eligibility. YouTube’s current overview also lists these requirements:

These requirements and availability can change, so use the official YPP eligibility page and your Studio account as the authority for your application.
How to apply in YouTube Studio
- Sign in to YouTube and open YouTube Studio.
- Choose Earn from the left menu.
- Select Apply Now when it is available for your channel.
- Review and accept the base terms.
- Start or link an active AdSense for YouTube account. YouTube recommends creating a new account through Studio rather than separately.
- Return to Earn and check the Get Reviewed step for your application status.
YouTube says the application enters the review queue after the signup steps, including accepting terms and linking an active AdSense for YouTube account, are complete. Its expanded YPP guidance says decisions typically arrive in about one month, but volume, system issues, resource limits, or additional reviews can cause delays. YouTube says signup can be completed using a computer or mobile device.
What YouTube reviews—and what happens if you are rejected
Meeting a threshold lets you apply; it does not automatically enroll the channel. YouTube says automated systems and human reviewers assess the channel as a whole for compliance with monetization policies and guidelines. Review your channel’s content and policy compliance before applying rather than treating a qualifying counter as a prediction of approval.

Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsCounts can change while an application is pending. YouTube says it will still review an application after the channel has met the threshold and applied. Changing a video’s privacy or deleting videos can affect application status, so avoid making those changes casually while applying.

Keeping monetization after acceptance
YPP acceptance does not remove ongoing policy obligations. YouTube says monetization can be lost if a channel violates channel monetization policies, regardless of its subscriber or watch-hour totals. It also reserves the right to turn off monetization for channels that have not uploaded a video or posted to the Posts tab for six months or more. See the current YPP overview for the applicable rules.
Threshold change announced for February 1, 2027
As of October 3, 2026, YouTube has announced a future change for new creators seeking the updated ad and Premium entry threshold from February 1, 2027: 1,000 subscribers and either 8,000 qualified watch hours in the previous 365 days or 20 million qualified Shorts views in the previous 90 days. YouTube says existing YPP creators will not be affected by this entry-threshold update. The announcement says the earlier fan-funding and Shopping thresholds remain at 500 subscribers, three uploads in 90 days where applicable, and either 3,000 watch hours or 3 million Shorts views. These are announced future rules, not the standard threshold in force on October 3, 2026; check YouTube’s announcement for updates before relying on the planned change.

If you use pre-recorded videos for an always-on YouTube stream alongside your channel, StreamNeo is a separate cloud service—not a YPP requirement and not a way to guarantee monetization. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so no computer, OBS, or home connection needs to stay on. It streams to YouTube only, not from a camera. It supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and includes a first free day with no card. Monthly access is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo, then start your free day.
