You can run an OBS stream continuously on a Jio laptop only while the laptop stays powered on and awake. To keep it running, identify the laptop’s exact operating system, disable automatic system sleep for the power state you will use, and test OBS and YouTube together before relying on the broadcast. Turning off the display is not the same as putting the computer to sleep; the key is that the computer and OBS remain active.
What “without sleep mode” means
OBS sends the video from your computer to YouTube, so YouTube cannot keep receiving the OBS feed after the laptop sleeps or powers off. An OBS support-forum answer likewise notes that a PC must be fully on to stream, though that is general guidance rather than a JioBook-specific instruction: OBS Project forum discussion.
The display may turn off while the computer stays awake. That can save power and reduce screen light, but it does not replace checking the actual system sleep setting. If you intend to close the lid, first find out what closing it does on your particular laptop and operating system; do not assume the stream will continue.
Check your Jio laptop and OBS compatibility
Identify the model and operating system
“Jio laptop” is not enough information to give a reliable, model-specific menu path. Jio’s product materials cover JioBook and JioOS, but do not provide OBS-specific compatibility guidance or a sleep-setting path. Check the model and the operating system installed on your device, then use the power settings available for that OS version. Jio’s published JioBook specifications list a 2.0 GHz octa-core processor, 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64 GB onboard storage, expandable to 256 GB. Jio also describes usage as “more than 8 hours”; that is not a guarantee of continuous 24/7 streaming.

Install OBS from its official source and test performance
Get OBS from the OBS Project and verify that a version is available for your installed operating system before planning the stream. OBS cautions that a compatible system is not necessarily capable of streaming or recording well. CPU demand varies with encoder, resolution, frame rate and scene complexity. Its system requirements page was dated 2021-08-25, so treat it as general guidance, not a performance guarantee for your particular Jio laptop.
For a starting configuration, OBS recommends its built-in Tools > Auto Configuration Wizard. Treat the result as a starting point: test it with your intended scenes, video quality and network, and lower the load if the preview or stream is unstable. OBS also maintains laptop troubleshooting guidance for issues specific to laptop graphics and encoding.

Set up the YouTube encoder stream
- Enable live streaming. In YouTube Studio, confirm that live streaming is enabled for the channel. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours. The channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Check YouTube’s current instructions at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Create or select an encoder stream in YouTube Studio. Open the stream’s settings in the Live Control Room and obtain its stream URL and stream key. Keep the key private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
- Enter the connection details in OBS. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service if available, and enter the stream key. If the service setup asks for a server or stream URL, use the URL shown for that stream in YouTube Studio. Do not substitute a key from another stream.
- Build and inspect the scene. Add the intended video, game capture or other permitted source, then check the picture and audio in OBS. Confirm that the scene is not blank and that audio is neither missing nor unintentionally duplicated.
- Start the encoder and wait for YouTube’s preview. Select Start Streaming in OBS. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, wait for the incoming signal and inspect the preview and stream status before treating the broadcast as live for viewers. YouTube recommends a test stream and monitoring stream quality; see its computer live-streaming tips.
Keep the laptop awake for the intended power state
- Connect the power source you plan to use. A 24/7 stream requires the computer to stay powered, not merely to have its battery last for a stated usage period.
- Open the operating system’s power settings. Find the control for automatic system sleep or suspension while plugged in, and set it so the laptop does not sleep during the stream. Exact labels and paths depend on the installed OS and version; Jio’s published material does not establish a universal JioBook menu path.
- Set the display behavior separately. If desired, allow the display to turn off after a period while keeping the system awake. Verify the behavior with OBS running; display-off and system sleep are separate outcomes.
- Check lid-close behavior before closing the laptop. If your setup requires the lid to be closed, determine the lid action in the OS’s power controls and test it while watching OBS and YouTube. Do not use a closed-lid setup until you have confirmed it leaves the machine awake and the stream connected.
- Keep the laptop ventilated. Use a stable surface that does not block its vents. A long test can reveal whether the device or stream becomes unreliable under your actual placement and workload.
Run a full-duration test before depending on it
Test the complete setup using the same power source, network, scenes, display setting and lid position you expect to use. A brief connection check will not reveal every problem that can emerge during a long run. Watch the OBS status and YouTube’s Live Control Room stream quality, and confirm that the stream remains connected and the picture and sound stay correct. YouTube recommends testing and continuous monitoring; it does not guarantee that a given JioBook can sustain a particular resolution or remain online without interruption.
There is also an archive limit to plan around: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. It does not promise that a 24-hour stream will be archived as one video. If retaining the full broadcast matters, do not assume the live stream’s archive will provide a single complete recording.

Use content you have the right to stream
A successful technical setup does not make the video or audio eligible to broadcast. Before streaming prerecorded footage, game audio, music or other material, check that you have the necessary rights and that the content complies with YouTube’s rules. Review YouTube’s current encoder and live-streaming guidance, including restrictions applicable to your channel and content, before leaving a stream unattended.
