If you want viewers to watch your exam-preparation videos on repeat, use YouTube’s playlist Loop control during ordinary playback. If you want the videos broadcast as an actual YouTube Live stream, playlist Loop is not enough: you need to send a video feed to YouTube through an encoder, and you must have streaming eligibility and the rights to every item in that feed.
First choose: repeat playback or broadcast live?
| Goal | What to do | What repeats | Is it a live event? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Let someone replay a playlist | Use YouTube’s playlist Loop control during normal playback | The playlist in the viewer’s playback session | No |
| Broadcast repeated video as a live event | Send a video feed through an encoder to YouTube Live | The repeated feed supplied by the encoder | Yes, subject to channel eligibility and content rights |
YouTube’s desktop playlist control repeats playback for the viewer; it does not send that playlist to a live audience. YouTube’s instructions for looping videos or playlists explain the playback control.
Loop a playlist for ordinary viewing
- Open a video that belongs to the playlist on YouTube.
- Expand the playlist box beside or below the video.
- Select Loop. The playlist will repeat continuously for that playback session.
This is the simplest option when learners only need a playlist to keep playing. It does not create a public live event, a live chat, or a broadcast feed.
Broadcast repeated videos as a YouTube Live event
1. Confirm the channel can livestream
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must have had no livestreaming restrictions in the previous 90 days to livestream. Check eligibility in YouTube Studio before preparing the broadcast. If the channel is not eligible, resolve that first rather than troubleshooting the encoder.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
2. Prepare an encoder feed
For an actual live event, an encoder running on a computer sends video to YouTube using the stream URL and stream key. YouTube documents encoder streaming and includes OBS in its HLS guidance, but the cited instructions do not establish a universal OBS playlist-loop recipe. Encoder menus and playback methods can vary by operating system and software version, so use the current instructions for the encoder and protocol you choose.
Before going live, ensure the source feed itself plays the exam-preparation material in the intended order and repeat pattern. Do not assume YouTube’s playlist Loop setting is part of the outbound encoder feed.

3. Connect and preview in YouTube Live Control Room
Set up the event in YouTube Live Control Room and enter the stream URL and key in your encoder. Start the encoder’s feed, then check YouTube’s preview before starting the event. YouTube recommends testing the stream and monitoring audio and video quality. Confirm that the video is visible, the audio is intelligible, and the sequence is behaving as intended.
4. Monitor the event while it is live
Keep an eye on the Live Control Room preview and the encoder. A computer suitable for running encoder software is relevant to this route; the available YouTube guidance does not establish that you need to buy a new or dedicated streaming PC.

Check rights before looping educational content
Exam-preparation content can include more than the lecture itself: check permission for every video, soundtrack, graphic, slide, and other material in the feed. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. A match can lead to a warning, a placeholder image, a temporary interruption, or termination. Even if you have a licence, the rights owner may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID for the live stream to proceed without interruption. YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance describes these risks, and its Terms of Service require you to have the necessary rights.
Plan for long streams and recordings
Keep a local backup
YouTube can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours. If a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. Make a local recording if preserving the session matters; do not treat YouTube’s archive as the only copy. See YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance.

Do not rely on rewind for a long event
DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. If viewers need to revisit a particular lesson, provide an accessible recording or a separate organized playlist rather than promising that a long live broadcast will support rewind. YouTube explains the limitation in its DVR guidance for live streams.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Troubleshoot common problems
- The playlist repeats for you, but viewers do not see a live event: you are using ordinary playback Loop. Set up a YouTube Live event and send an encoder feed instead.
- You cannot start a livestream: check channel verification and whether the channel has had livestreaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- The live preview is blank or the sequence is wrong: check the encoder’s source and playback setup, then verify the feed in Live Control Room before starting the event. Follow the current documentation for your encoder and selected protocol.
- You receive a copyright warning or the stream is interrupted: review rights for all material in the feed. A licence may not be sufficient if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID.
- The event is not available as a complete archive: if it exceeded 12 hours, YouTube may not have captured it. Use a local backup for important sessions.
- Viewers cannot rewind far enough: DVR may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a YouTube stream built from uploaded videos, StreamNeo is an alternative to running an encoder computer at home: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay powered on at home; the stream runs in the cloud. Uploaded quality is streamed as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot rather than quality tiers. StreamNeo can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the monthly option is $9.99 per month. It streams to YouTube only and plays uploaded videos, not a camera feed. See StreamNeo, then start your free day.
