Sometimes—but a Creative Commons label by itself does not establish that you can rebroadcast a lecture recording continuously. Check the exact licence and version, confirm the licensor had authority over both the lecture and its recording, and clear any music, slides, clips, or other third-party material. The planned use must also satisfy the licence and YouTube’s worldwide rights requirements. This is general information, not legal advice or a determination about a particular recording.
What must be true before you stream it?
Check these five points for the specific recording before putting it on a public 24/7 stream:
- Identify the licence. Record its exact name, version, source URL, legal code, and any additional terms. Do not rely on a platform label or a generic claim that the work is “Creative Commons.”
- Verify who granted it. Confirm the licensor had authority to license the lecture and the audiovisual recording, not merely access to or possession of a copy.
- Check everything included. Slides, music, images, video clips, and contributions by other people may have separate rights and licence terms.
- Match the licence to your use. Consider whether you will monetise the stream or alter the recording, for example by editing it, translating it, adding overlays, or adding audio.
- Plan for YouTube’s systems. A rights-compliant use may still trigger a livestream match. Keep evidence of permission and, if appropriate, ask the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting.
The recording’s URL, licence text, and rights-holder details are not specified here, so no general answer can establish that a particular video is cleared.
How the Creative Commons terms affect a continuous relay
Creative Commons licences are not interchangeable. The variant and version attached to the recording determine the conditions. Review the actual legal code rather than assuming that every CC licence permits every form of streaming.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- BY: Reuse is subject to attribution requirements.
- NC: The noncommercial condition may constrain a monetised use. Do not assume that attribution makes commercial use permissible.
- ND: The no-derivatives condition can constrain sharing adaptations. A straightforward relay raises a different question from a stream that edits, translates, or otherwise adapts the work; check the legal code and the production details.
- SA: The share-alike condition applies to adaptations. Check how it applies before distributing an adapted version.
YouTube says CC-licensed content may be monetised when the licence agreement grants commercial rights. When using a creator’s CC-licensed work, YouTube instructs creators to include the title, author, source URL, and licence information in the video or its description. Credit may also be presented as on-screen text or voiceover. YouTube: License types on YouTube.
Credit does not replace permission where permission is needed. YouTube also cautions that calling a use educational, giving credit, or altering the content does not by itself clear copyright. YouTube: Copyright myths.

Confirm the recording’s rights chain under Indian law
A lecture recording can contain multiple protected works. India’s Copyright Act, 1957 recognises copyright in original literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works, cinematograph films, and sound recordings. Rights can include reproduction, communication to the public, and adaptation. A licence covering one layer may not clear the others. Copyright Act, 1957.
The Government of India’s Chapter IV text states that, for an address or speech delivered in public, the person who delivered it is the first owner of copyright in that address or speech, subject to the Act. This makes the lecturer a likely rights holder for the speech, but it does not by itself establish who owns or may license the recording, or rights in embedded contributions. Check the current consolidated Act and obtain legal advice if you need a legal determination. Copyright Office, Government of India: Chapter IV.

Section 52 contains specific educational provisions, including certain reproduction by teachers or pupils in the course of instruction and specified communications by educational institutions to limited institutional audiences. Those provisions are not a general permission for an independent creator to relay a lecture publicly and continuously. The educational character of the lecture alone does not clear the stream. Copyright Office, Government of India: Exceptions.
What YouTube requires—and what can interrupt the stream
YouTube’s livestream terms require the streamer to have all necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of the live content on Google services. The terms also require compliance with applicable laws and regulations. A licence suitable for one territory or platform may not satisfy that worldwide requirement. YouTube scans livestreams for third-party matches. If it identifies such content, it may show a placeholder and warn you to stop using it; continuing can lead to a temporary interruption or termination. YouTube advises creators who have licensed third-party content to ask the owner to add their channel to the Content ID allowlist. If the livestream is archived, a Content ID claim may also be made after it ends. Allowlisting can address a platform match; it does not grant rights that the licence does not provide. Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Before you start: a clearance checklist
- Open the original source and save the exact licence name, version, licence URL, and any extra terms.
- Verify who uploaded or licensed the recording and whether the lecturer, institution, videographer, and relevant performers granted the necessary rights.
- Review the recording for music, images, slides, clips, and other material. Confirm those elements are covered or obtain permission or remove them where appropriate.
- Decide whether the stream will be monetised or altered. Confirm that each use fits the licence, or obtain separate written permission.
- Provide YouTube’s requested attribution: title, author, source URL, and licence information.
- For a long-running stream, contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting if the licensed content may match. Keep the licence and written permission available.
- If anything remains unclear, ask the rights holder for written permission that specifically covers continuous public streaming, monetisation, territory, and any edits you plan to make.
