You can run prerecorded yoga classes as a continuous YouTube livestream by sending a looping playlist from an encoder to a verified channel through YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. The stream can stay live while the encoder and its connection keep working, but YouTube does not guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 service. A stream longer than 12 hours may not be archived, and its DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of launch. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance explains the requirements.
- A computer running streaming software, or a dedicated hardware encoder, that can play a playlist or loop prerecorded classes and send the feed to YouTube. YouTube supports encoder-based streaming but does not prescribe a particular looping application. YouTube’s encoder setup guide describes the connection workflow.
- A reliable internet connection with enough upload bandwidth for the total stream bitrate, plus a plan for monitoring and recovery.
- Permission to use every class, performance, song, graphic and third-party clip in both the live broadcast and any replay.
You do not need to buy a new computer just to begin: YouTube says expensive equipment is not necessary to start, and the right setup depends on the encoder and production requirements. Its guidance recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events, but does not endorse a particular device for an unattended yoga stream. Prepare the classes and clear the rights
Build a continuous playback sequence
In your chosen encoder or playout setup, arrange the prerecorded classes in the order you want them to appear. Check transitions between files so that playback does not end unexpectedly, leave a long blank interval, or continue with silent audio. Confirm that the playlist repeats if you intend to run it continuously. These are practical playback checks; YouTube’s encoder setup instructions do not configure your playlist for you.
Confirm permissions for the full broadcast
Make sure you have the necessary rights for the yoga instruction, instructors and other identifiable performers, music, artwork, graphics and any third-party footage. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the provider for rights needed to use live content on Google services worldwide, including music rights, and for compliance with applicable laws and territory requirements. Those terms do not determine which Indian copyright, music or broadcast approvals apply to your particular production. If your classes use music or licensed material, confirm the permissions that cover your planned use, territories and any archived replay rather than assuming that permission for a class recording automatically covers a public livestream.
Set up the YouTube encoder stream
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live, then create a stream using the encoder workflow. You can schedule it if you want a watch page for viewers before the broadcast begins. YouTube’s setup instructions cover creating and scheduling an encoder stream.
- Copy the connection details. In Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key into the corresponding streaming settings in your encoder. Treat the key as a credential: keep it private and reset it if someone else obtains it.
- Configure the video source and stream details. Choose the prerecorded playlist or playback source in the encoder. Set the stream title, description, audience and privacy options in YouTube Studio, and schedule the broadcast if appropriate.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Wait for the incoming feed to appear in Live Control Room. Check the image, audio and playback transitions before starting the public stream. Use YouTube’s preview and launch workflow rather than assuming a successful encoder connection means the viewer-facing stream is correct.
Test bandwidth, monitoring and recovery
YouTube says your available upload bandwidth must exceed the total bitrate being sent and recommends leaving 20% headroom. If you use a primary and backup encoder, account for the bitrate of both when planning bandwidth. Use a reliable connection and test the backup path before relying on it. Before launch, YouTube recommends checking the Live Control Room preview, verifying access on the channel and watch page and on mobile devices, monitoring audio and video quality, and testing that a backup encoder can take over. Review its streaming preparation guidance.
For an all-day playlist, arrange practical monitoring for encoder stoppage, lost connection, frozen picture, silent audio, an ended playlist and local recording or storage problems. YouTube’s guidance supports preview, monitoring and failover testing; it does not prescribe a specific monitoring product or promise that an encoder, computer or connection will run without interruption.

Choose between one 24-hour stream and shorter sessions

YouTube does not promise that every stream under 12 hours will be available as a complete replay; its guidance says such streams can be automatically archived, while streams over 12 hours may not be captured. If a complete archive matters, record the classes locally as well and check that the recordings are intact.
