To stream a relaxation video continuously on YouTube Live, create a live event in YouTube Studio, send it from an encoder such as OBS, and set the video source to repeat in the encoder or playback app. YouTube handles the live event; the encoder handles the loop. Test the transition between repetitions and the audio before you rely on the stream for a long broadcast.

What you need before you start

  • A YouTube channel that is verified and has no live-streaming restrictions within the past 90 days. YouTube says first-time live activation can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube live streaming tips.
  • A computer running an encoder, such as OBS, and the relaxation video file you have rights to use. YouTube supports both software and hardware encoder workflows; expensive equipment is not required.
  • A stable wired or wireless internet connection with enough upload capacity for your chosen resolution and bitrate.
  • Permission to use both the video and its soundtrack in a livestream on YouTube. Keep license records available.

This guide uses an encoder-based setup. YouTube’s encoder instructions explain how to send a stream, but do not specify a YouTube-native loop control for an encoder input. Set repetition in your playback source or encoder instead.

Create the YouTube Live event

  1. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. If Live is not yet enabled on the channel, complete YouTube’s activation steps and allow up to 24 hours for first-time enablement.
  2. Choose to start now or schedule the stream. Scheduling creates an upcoming watch page that you can share; viewers can opt in to reminders. YouTube’s guide is Manage live stream settings.
  3. Open the event’s stream settings and copy the stream URL and stream key. In your encoder, select YouTube if that integration is available; otherwise paste the URL into the server field and the key into the stream-key field.
  4. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.

For the full setup flow, see Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

Add the video and make it repeat

  1. In your encoder, add the relaxation video as a media or playback source. In OBS, this is typically done by adding a media source and selecting the file; exact labels may vary by OBS version.
  2. Enable the source’s repeat or loop option. If the encoder does not offer one, use a playback application that can loop the file and capture its output in the encoder.
  3. Check whether the file restarts seamlessly. Look for a black frame, silent gap, abrupt audio restart, or source-ended state at the end of each pass. If you hear a click or pause, edit the file or adjust the playback workflow before broadcasting.
  4. Confirm the source remains active after a repeat and that the encoder continues sending video and audio. YouTube does not guarantee loop behavior for a particular encoder source.

Choose stream settings that your connection can sustain

YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends RTMP or RTMPS for standard encoder workflows, constant bitrate (CBR), and a 2-second keyframe interval; do not exceed 4 seconds. Its settings page lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 among supported video codecs. Check YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions when configuring the stream because recommendations and compatibility can change.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Select a resolution and bitrate that your connection can maintain consistently rather than choosing the highest possible setting. YouTube recommends running an upload speed test and leaving 20% bandwidth headroom above the stream’s bitrate in its streaming tips. A connection that barely matches the configured bitrate may drop frames or disconnect when network conditions fluctuate.

Test privately before going public

  1. Set the event to private or unlisted for a test, then start the encoder with the same video, loop setting, audio, resolution, and bitrate planned for the public broadcast.
  2. Watch the Live Control Room preview and the viewer-facing stream. Verify the picture, audio level, loop transition, and that playback continues through more than one full repetition.
  3. Check the stream on the devices your audience is likely to use. Confirm the watch page is accessible with the selected privacy setting.
  4. Monitor stream health and your computer’s performance. If you record a local archive at the same time, check available disk space; long recordings can consume substantial storage.
  5. After a successful test, schedule or start the intended public event and monitor the encoder and YouTube’s stream-health indicators during the broadcast.

YouTube’s setup guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived in the encoder workflow. Do not assume a longer stream will be archived; check the current behavior shown in Studio before depending on a recording.

Protect the stream from copyright interruptions

YouTube’s livestream terms require the creator to have the necessary rights to transmit the content on Google services, including applicable music rights. A relaxation video can contain separate rights in the visuals, background music, nature sounds, or other audio, so confirm the license covers livestreaming on YouTube—not only personal playback or uploaded videos.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can cause a placeholder and warning, and unresolved content can interrupt or terminate the stream. A license alone may not prevent an interruption: the rights owner may also need to allowlist your channel. Review Copyright issues with live streams and YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions, retain proof of permission, and ask the licensor whether channel allowlisting is required.

Software encoder or hardware encoder?

Factor Software encoder Hardware encoder
Cost Can use an existing computer and software; YouTube says expensive equipment is not necessary. Requires an encoder device; YouTube does not establish a generally necessary purchase.
Portability Depends on the computer carrying the encoder and video file. Depends on the device and the rest of the setup; no universal portability advantage is established.
Inputs and overlays Depends on the encoder software and computer configuration. Depends on the hardware model and its available inputs and features.
Long unattended operation Requires the computer, encoder, and network to remain running. Requires the hardware encoder and network to remain running.
Resolution and bitrate Confirm the computer can encode the selected settings reliably. Confirm the device supports the selected settings reliably.

YouTube supports both approaches and does not name one as universally better. For a single pre-recorded loop, start with equipment you already have and test a representative run before buying dedicated hardware.

Troubleshoot common loop-stream problems

  • Live is unavailable in Studio: verify the channel and check for live-stream restrictions. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
  • YouTube receives no signal: check that the encoder is running, the correct event is selected, and the server URL and stream key match. If the key may have been exposed, reset it and replace it in the encoder.
  • The video stops after one play: enable repeat on the media source or use a looping playback app, then retest beyond the end of the file.
  • There is a visible or audible break at the restart: inspect the file’s first and last frames and audio, then adjust or edit the source. The stream platform cannot smooth a discontinuity already present in the loop.
  • The stream buffers, drops frames, or disconnects: lower the resolution or bitrate, verify CBR and the keyframe interval, and retest with the recommended upload headroom. Also check whether other devices or applications are using bandwidth.
  • The stream is interrupted for a copyright match: review the alert, confirm rights for every video and audio element, and contact the licensor about channel allowlisting where applicable.
  • A long broadcast has no archive: YouTube’s cited encoder setup guidance describes automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours; longer broadcasts should not be assumed to produce an archive.
