To run a 24/7 devotional video channel on YouTube in India, first clear the rights to every recording and visual, enable YouTube Live, then send a playlist or prepared programme through an encoder or a cloud streaming service. Plan for interruptions and YouTube’s archive limit: a stream lasting more than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A continuous schedule does not remove copyright or monetization requirements.
Before you start: clear the rights to every part of the programme
A bhajan, mantra, or other devotional composition may be traditional, but that alone does not give you permission to use a particular recording or video. A modern performance, arrangement, recording, photograph, animation, or clip can involve separate rights. Check each item individually before putting it in a continuous stream.
Keep a rights ledger for audio
For each track, record the composition, performer, arrangement, sound-recording owner, permission or licence evidence, permitted territories, licence term, intended YouTube uses, monetization scope, and the Content ID contact or allowlisting status. Keep signed agreements, invoices, emails, and performer or session consents together. Ask the rights holder whether written permission covers continuous livestreaming, YouTube monetization, every territory you intend to serve, the planned term, and Content ID allowlisting.
Clear visuals separately
Do the same check for photographs, artwork, animations, footage, and any other third-party visual. Permission for a song does not automatically cover a video or image used with it. If a rights holder has licensed material that is registered with Content ID, ask whether they need to allowlist your channel so the licensed stream is not mistakenly interrupted or restricted.

Understand the risk of a live match
YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. If its system detects a match, it may replace the live stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or end it. A licence does not guarantee that an automated claim will never happen, so keep the rights holder’s contact and permission records available for resolving a claim.
This checklist is a practical way to document permissions, not a complete account of Indian copyright or broadcast law. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility for necessary rights and applicable territorial requirements on the provider. If the rights chain or India-specific licences for your catalogue are unclear, ask the rights holders or qualified Indian counsel about your specific use.

Enable YouTube Live and create the stream
Check channel eligibility and activation time
- Verify the YouTube channel and enable livestreaming. YouTube requires a verified channel, no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days, and a streamer aged 16 or older.
- If this is the channel’s first live stream, allow at least 24 hours after enabling it before launch; YouTube for Artists recommends enabling first-time live streaming that far ahead.
- Check YouTube Studio for any channel live restriction before you schedule the broadcast.
Use the encoder workflow for a prepared programme
YouTube offers encoder, mobile, webcam, and console methods. For a playlist-driven devotional channel, an encoder is the relevant route because it sends a prepared audio-and-video feed to YouTube. A software encoder may be sufficient; YouTube recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production-value events, but does not require dedicated hardware for every creator.
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule the live stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream into the encoder’s YouTube destination settings.
- Choose the intended title, description, schedule, and public visibility in YouTube Studio. Confirm that the encoder is sending the intended programme and check the preview before starting the event.
- Keep the stream key private. It gives whoever has it the ability to send video to your stream. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder with the replacement.
- Start the encoder and confirm that the preview and watch page show the right picture and sound before treating the channel as live.
There is no one bitrate, resolution, or keyframe interval in the available guidance that applies to every source and encoder. Check YouTube’s current encoder instructions and your encoder’s current settings at setup rather than copying an unverified preset. A higher-resolution source also needs an encoder and upload connection capable of delivering it consistently.

Choose a continuity and archive plan
A 24/7 schedule does not have to be one 24-hour event
YouTube says a stream under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a replay on the channel, plan shorter sessions and retain local recordings rather than relying on a single uninterrupted day-long event. A continuous channel schedule can be maintained by planning handoffs or restarts; choose a cadence that your team can monitor and recover.
Prepare for ordinary failures
Before launch, test the stream and any backup encoder, check whether local archive files are being saved, and decide who will respond if the feed stops. Monitor both picture and audio and confirm that the event remains visible on its watch page. Power, network, encoder, and rights interruptions are different problems, so keep the relevant recovery access and contact details available to the person on duty. Do not promise viewers a specific uptime unless your actual operating plan supports that claim.

Make the programming original and useful
Clearing rights is necessary, but it does not by itself make a channel eligible for monetization. YouTube’s monetization policy applies to livestreams and says it only allows monetization for content that is original and authentic. Repetitive or mass-produced “inauthentic content” may be ineligible, including a stream that simply loops the same third-party material without meaningful variation or added value.
Consider original performances, prayer or commentary, contextual introductions, or genuinely differentiated programming for different times of day. Similar formats can still offer distinct value when each programme materially varies and gives viewers a creative, educational, or other meaningful reason to watch. Ensure that every added contribution is also cleared for use.

Understand monetization without treating it as a forecast
YouTube lists live ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as possible revenue paths. Availability depends on channel and feature eligibility and settings, and YouTube does not guarantee that ads will be delivered. Stream duration by itself does not establish likely earnings.
In an announcement dated 7 July 2026, the YouTube Team said Gifts were launching in India. The same announcement reported that 92% of surveyed Indian YouTube creators agreed that YouTube helps them foster a deep community with their audience, and that the number of YouTube channels earning seven figures or more in INR revenue was up by over 20% year over year. These are broad platform-level figures, not a prediction of eligibility, audience growth, or income for a new devotional channel.
Ways to keep the YouTube feed running
