You can schedule a YouTube live event for viewers in India and the Gulf, but scheduling the event does not make a YouTube playlist play as a live broadcast. To present prerecorded videos as a live feed, schedule the event in YouTube Studio and separately send the playlist through an encoder or cloud playout service. Publish the full date, time and timezone—and name the Gulf country or city—so viewers know exactly when to tune in.
What you need to schedule
There are two separate parts: the upcoming event viewers find on YouTube, and the outgoing video feed that reaches it. YouTube Studio schedules the event; an encoder or playout system sends the audio and video. YouTube’s encoder instructions describe connecting an encoder using a stream URL and stream key (Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder).
A YouTube playlist is a way to organize videos, not a documented automatic queue for a live broadcast. Adding videos to a playlist does not by itself make them play as a live feed. You must arrange a separate feed for the scheduled event. See Create & manage playlists.
Schedule the YouTube live event
- Open Live Control Room: In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live → Manage → Schedule stream.
- Set up the event: Choose to create a new stream or reuse settings, then enter the event details and schedule it. YouTube’s encoder workflow covers creating a scheduled stream in Live Control Room (YouTube Help).
- Verify the displayed start time: Check the date and time shown for the scheduled event before sharing it. Do not assume that the live-event workflow has a dedicated IST or Gulf timezone picker. YouTube documents timezone control for scheduled video publication, but that is not evidence of the same controls for live events (Schedule video publish time).
- Connect the feed separately: Configure your encoder or playout service with the event’s stream URL and stream key, and make sure its start schedule matches the event time. For API-based scheduling, YouTube’s Live Streaming API represents the scheduled start as an ISO 8601 datetime (LiveBroadcasts).
- Share the event page: Send viewers the YouTube event URL in advance so they can open the event and select Notify me. YouTube says scheduled streams may appear as upcoming, with notifications available to viewers (Manage live stream settings).
Announce the time clearly for India and Gulf viewers
Use one confirmed reference time for the event, then provide the corresponding local time for each intended audience. Include the complete calendar date, the time and an explicit timezone abbreviation or UTC offset. For Gulf viewers, specify the country or city rather than writing only “Gulf time”: there is no single local offset that should be assumed for the whole region.

Verify any country-specific conversion against a reliable, current time-zone reference before publishing. The event’s displayed time and the outgoing feed’s start time should both match the reference time you announce. If the schedule changes, update the event information and tell viewers who have already seen or shared the original time.
For example, an announcement should identify the actual date and say “India time (IST)” alongside the named Gulf city and its local time. Avoid relying on a time alone, a relative phrase such as “tonight,” or a conversion viewers must calculate themselves.

Make a prerecorded playlist play as the live feed
If the programming is prerecorded, load or arrange the videos in an encoder or playout system that can send them as a continuous live feed to YouTube. The YouTube playlist can help organize the source videos, but it does not operate the feed. Confirm that the selected system supports the intended playback order and schedule, and check how it handles interruptions and monitoring; those capabilities vary by provider and should be verified in that provider’s current documentation.
YouTube supports several ways to stream, including mobile, webcam and encoder workflows. Scheduling an event does not itself require a particular camera, microphone, computer or capture card; choose a streaming method that suits the source you intend to broadcast (Get started with live streaming).

Choose how to keep the feed running
For a recurring or extended prerecorded stream, compare the operating approach against the actual job rather than assuming the scheduled event handles playback.
- Can it send your intended playlist to YouTube Live? Confirm that it can play the source videos as a live feed, rather than only organize or publish them as ordinary videos.
- Can you control the start schedule? Check how start times are set and how they align with the YouTube event.
- What happens after an interruption? Verify recovery behavior and whether someone must restart or monitor the feed.
- Must a person or device stay available? Consider who will operate the encoder and what equipment or connection must remain running.
- What will it cost, and what monitoring is included? Compare the current terms and operating requirements for the specific service or setup.

Promote a reliable recurring schedule
Share the event page early and tell viewers which local time applies to them. YouTube recommends keeping a consistent, sustainable schedule and communicating it to viewers; its guidance also discusses scheduled mobile streams and reusing stream settings where appropriate (Upload schedule tips – Live). For repeat events, make the date and local-time information part of each announcement rather than expecting viewers to remember an earlier conversion.

Troubleshooting schedule and playback problems
- The event is scheduled, but no video is playing: The event page and outgoing feed are separate. Check that the encoder or playout system is connected with the correct stream URL and key and is sending the intended video.
- The playlist does not start automatically: A YouTube playlist organizes videos; it is not documented as an automatic live-playback queue. Configure a separate encoder or playout system to send the feed.
- The event time looks wrong to viewers: Recheck the displayed time in Live Control Room, the date and timezone in your announcement, and the conversion for the named Gulf country or city. Update the event information and notify viewers if the announced schedule changes.
- The feed starts at a different time from the event: Compare the event’s scheduled start with the encoder or playout system’s start schedule. Where scheduling is API-based, check the ISO 8601 scheduled start datetime.
- Viewers cannot find the event in advance: Share the event URL directly and ask viewers to open it and select Notify me. YouTube says scheduled streams can appear as upcoming, but a direct link gives viewers a clear route to the event.
