A disconnect can come from the encoder or computer, Wi-Fi or router, unstable upload, or a YouTube stream-setting problem; the available information cannot establish that ACT is responsible for any individual drop. Work through the checks below before changing providers or equipment.
1. Capture the error and the time of each drop

Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and check the stream-health indicator while broadcasting.

Note the exact time of each interruption and save any health messages shown beside the indicator. YouTube’s dashboard checks the stream sent to YouTube, and its error reference says health errors remain visible with timestamps and may be critical or moderate. This record can help distinguish a stream-setting issue from a connection interruption.

Change one thing at a time and note what you changed. That makes it easier to tell whether a fix helped.

If YouTube displays an error, use its live-streaming error reference to identify the setting it flags before assuming the internet connection is at fault.
2. Rule out the encoder and computer

Update your encoder software and check its preview, logs, and any dropped-frame or connection warnings.

Watch CPU load during the stream. Heavy load can affect encoding even when the internet connection is working.

If you record a local archive, check whether the file continues to grow and whether its audio and video play normally.

YouTube advises checking the encoder output first. If video and audio look healthy there but the stream still fails, test the outbound internet connection and contact the ISP if the test indicates a problem. Follow YouTube’s troubleshooting steps.
Check stream format, bitrate, and keyframes
If Live Control Room flags a format or bitrate problem, compare your encoder settings with YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance for your chosen codec, resolution, and frame rate. YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS settings, recommends constant bitrate (CBR), and recommends a two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds.

These are YouTube’s encoder recommendations, with no publication date stated on the guidance page. They are not measured ACT upload speeds or a guarantee that your connection can sustain them. Other codecs, resolutions, and frame rates have different settings, so check YouTube’s table for your exact configuration.
3. Check upload capacity and network use

Run a speed test that reports upload speed. Repeat it, preferably near the time your stream usually drops; a single result is only a snapshot.

Compare upload capacity with the encoder’s total outgoing bitrate—not just the stream’s resolution or your plan’s advertised speed. Include a backup stream if you are sending one.

YouTube recommends leaving 20% of available upload bandwidth as headroom above the total stream bitrate. Its network guidance also advises accounting for other users sharing the connection. The 20% figure is YouTube’s recommendation; the page does not state a date.

For a test, lower the encoder bitrate or resolution if there is little headroom, and pause large uploads or other heavy network use.
See YouTube’s encoder guidance and network troubleshooting guidance for current recommendations. A stream can disconnect when upload varies even if a speed test at another time looks adequate.

4. Compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet
If the streaming computer is on Wi-Fi, connect it to the router with an Ethernet cable and repeat the same test stream using the same encoder settings. This is a diagnostic comparison, not a guaranteed fix or proof that ACT is at fault.

If Ethernet is stable but Wi-Fi drops, investigate signal coverage, interference, router placement and condition, and the number of connected devices. ACT’s home-network guide identifies wiring condition, router distance and age, and connected-device count as factors that can affect performance.

If both connections drop, record that result. If possible, compare with another internet connection under similar conditions. That comparison is useful evidence, but it is not controlled: route, time, device, encoder, and network load may differ.
ACT describes home connections using either wired Ethernet or wireless. If evidence points to a Wi-Fi coverage or equipment issue, check ACT support and compatibility before buying a replacement router or mesh system.

Ask viewers what they see and whether they share a connection. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance says one viewer reporting an error is likely to have a viewer-device or connection issue; several affected viewers on one internet connection point toward that shared network. Reports from viewers on different connections may indicate an encoder or broadcaster-side problem. Compare those reports with your own stream-health messages rather than treating any single report as a diagnosis.
6. Contact ACT with evidence if the problem persists
If upload trouble continues during a wired test, contact ACT and provide concrete details:

Dates and times of disconnects, plus YouTube Live Control Room health messages.

Encoder logs or error messages and whether the local preview or archive remained healthy.

Upload test results, including when each test was run.

Whether the drops occurred on Ethernet as well as Wi-Fi, and whether another connection worked as a comparison.
Ask ACT to check the line and recurring disconnections. Its customer-care page lists support options; phone numbers, hours, and contact details can change, so verify them there. ACT’s guide also describes registering a support request through its website or app. No particular repair, response time, plan upgrade, or resolution can be promised for an individual connection.
