You can run recorded IELTS lessons as a continuous YouTube Live feed by sending them through an encoder: verify that your channel has live access, create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, enter its server URL and stream key in the encoder, then preview and start the feed. For a true 24/7 broadcast, the encoder and its internet connection must remain available; YouTube does not promise uninterrupted uptime. If you want lessons students can reliably revisit, publish them separately too: YouTube’s stated automatic archive rule covers streams under 12 hours, not a 24-hour broadcast.
Before you start: confirm YouTube Live access
- Your channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube says streamers must be at least 16. Check the channel’s live access before planning a launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Choose recordings and supporting materials you have the right to broadcast, including scripts, slides, images, music, and lesson recordings.
- Decide whether the live feed is for continuous presence, or whether students also need a searchable replay library. A long continuous stream is not a substitute for separately published lessons.
Choose how to send the recorded lessons
YouTube accepts streams sent from an encoder, which may be software or dedicated hardware. Software is a valid starting point; YouTube recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production-value events, not as a requirement for every channel. Compare the options against your need for unattended operation, recovery after a power or software failure, setup complexity, and cost. Set up and start the stream
- Prepare the feed. Arrange the recorded lessons in the order you want viewers to see them, and check that the video and audio play correctly. Configure your encoder to send a live feed to YouTube. The exact controls vary by encoder, so follow its instructions for selecting prerecorded files or a playlist.
- Create the YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule an encoder stream. Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream into the corresponding stream settings in your encoder. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send video to your channel.
- Preview before going live. Start the encoder early enough for YouTube to receive the feed. Check the Live Control Room preview and the watch page; verify the picture, sound, lesson order, and that the correct stream is selected. Test any backup or failover arrangement rather than assuming it will work.
- Start and monitor. Start the broadcast from the encoder and confirm YouTube shows the stream as live. YouTube advises setting up the encoder ahead of the event, starting it before the planned start, and monitoring stream quality. Keep someone available, or use an alerting process, to respond if the feed stops.
Keep a 24/7 feed running reliably
A continuous stream depends on the encoder source and network continuing to send data. YouTube warns that a connectivity disruption can break a stream and recommends keeping upload bandwidth headroom of 20%. That is a recommendation for spare capacity, not a promise that a connection will withstand every outage. Use a reliable connection, avoid saturating its upload capacity, and plan how you will respond to a power, computer, encoder, or ISP failure. YouTube’s guidance does not promise 24/7 uptime.

Plan the lesson replay library separately
YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. They do not promise a complete archive for a 24/7 feed. If students need durable access, lesson navigation, or searchability, upload individual lessons separately or publish shorter blocks that fit your replay plan. Check copyright and education-related rights in India
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. If it identifies third-party content, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. A licence alone may not prevent interruption: YouTube says the rights holder may need to allowlist the channel. Review YouTube’s guidance on live-streaming restrictions before going live.

YouTube’s livestream terms require the content provider to have the necessary rights and follow applicable law. In India, the Copyright Act addresses communication of works to the public, while the Copyright Office’s section 52 summary describes specific exceptions, including an educational-institution provision framed around a limited audience connected with the institution. Common problems and what to check
- You cannot go live: Confirm channel verification, age eligibility, and that the channel has not had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
- YouTube receives no feed: Check that the encoder is running and that its server URL and stream key match the stream in Live Control Room. If you suspect the key was exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- The preview is wrong or silent: Check the selected lesson or playlist, encoder output, audio source, and watch-page preview before relying on the stream.
- The stream drops: Check power, the encoder or computer, network stability, and available upload capacity. YouTube recommends 20% bandwidth headroom; have a response or recovery plan because a network disruption can break the feed.
- A copyright match interrupts the broadcast: Review the matched material and confirm you have the necessary rights. If licensed content is involved, ask the rights holder about allowlisting the channel.
- The full 24-hour feed is not available as a replay: YouTube’s automatic archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours. Publish lessons separately or use shorter blocks when complete replays matter.
