To play aarti videos one after another from a text playlist, use FFmpeg’s concat demuxer. Put one file directive per video in the order you want, then run ffmpeg -f concat -i playlist.txt -c copy output.mp4. This creates a finite combined file; it does not by itself establish a continuously repeating or live-editable playlist.
Make an ordered playlist file
Create a plain-text file named playlist.txt in a text editor. Add one file line for each clip, in playback order:
file 'aarti-morning.mp4'
file 'aarti-evening.mp4'
file 'aarti-special.mp4'Each entry names an input file. Relative paths are resolved in relation to the process’s working directory, so either run FFmpeg from the folder containing the videos and playlist or provide paths that resolve correctly from where you run the command. Spaces and special characters in paths need escaping or quoting. For automatic concat-script recognition, you may put ffconcat version 1.0 on the first line; it must be exact, with no leading whitespace or byte-order mark.
For ordinary relative filenames using letters, digits, periods, underscores, and hyphens, the default safe-path handling is intended to accept them. The concat demuxer’s safe option defaults to 1 and rejects unsafe paths and directives. Use -safe 0 only for a playlist you trust when its paths require it; it relaxes those path checks.

Join compatible clips without re-encoding
Run this from the directory where playlist.txt and its referenced clips can be found:
ffmpeg -f concat -i playlist.txt -c copy output.mp4-f concatselects the concat demuxer.-i playlist.txtsupplies the ordered text script.-c copycopies the streams instead of re-encoding them.output.mp4is a finite concatenated output; choose a container that supports the input streams.
FFmpeg command-line options generally apply to the next input or output. Keep input options before their corresponding -i, and output options after the inputs. The concat demuxer reads the listed files sequentially as one virtual sequence, so this is a way to place clips one after another—not to mix their audio, overlay images, or make a looping live broadcast.

Understand the concat demuxer’s requirements
Stream copying works only when the listed files have matching stream layouts, including codecs and time bases. The demuxer does not repair arbitrary differences. It uses each file’s duration to position the next file’s timestamps, so inaccurate duration metadata can produce timing artifacts.
If you know a file’s correct duration and its stored duration is wrong, the concat script supports a duration directive for that file. Supplying a duration for every file also makes seeking across the concatenated output possible. Use the concat filter instead when the inputs need re-encoding to join properly; FFmpeg’s FAQ recommends that operation when re-encoding is needed.

What “rotate” means here
The command above processes a fixed list once and writes a combined file. The concat demuxer documentation establishes sequential concatenation, but does not establish an infinite-repeat command or a way to edit the playlist while a process is running. If you need recurring playback or a continuously running YouTube stream, treat that as a separate workflow rather than assuming this finite-output command supplies it.
Troubleshoot playlist and output problems
- Playlist or file not found: Check the working directory, playlist filename, and each path in the
filelines. Confirm that every source file opens in FFmpeg. - Unsafe path error: Prefer a safe relative path using portable characters. If the playlist is trusted and requires absolute or unusual paths, add
-safe 0before-i playlist.txt. - Streams do not concatenate correctly: Compare the files’ streams, codecs, and time bases. If they do not match, use a concat-filter workflow that re-encodes rather than expecting stream copy to reconcile them.
- Unexpected gaps, overlaps, or timestamp artifacts: Check whether the source files’ duration metadata is accurate. A
durationdirective can override a stored duration when you know the correct value.
FFmpeg’s live manual is regenerated nightly and may differ from an older installed build. Check your installed version with ffmpeg -version and consult its local documentation if behavior or options differ.
