The loop runs in OBS—not through a native YouTube replay-loop button. This works the same way regardless of the commentary language.
What you need—and what the loop does
You need an authorized local video file, OBS, a YouTube channel with live streaming available, and a reliable internet connection and computer for the duration of the broadcast. OBS plays the file and repeats it; YouTube receives the resulting live encoder feed. YouTube describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming.
This differs from a replay: when a live broadcast ends, YouTube may make it available as a video on the channel. A replay is not a new live broadcast. See YouTube’s explanation of live-stream replays.
Set up the VOD loop in OBS and YouTube
- Check rights first. Make sure you own or have permission to use the game footage, your commentary, music, overlays, and every other element in the file. A license does not necessarily prevent an interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID.
- Create an OBS scene and add the file. In the Sources panel, select + and choose Media Source. Give it a name, select the local video file, and enable Loop. OBS lists MP4 among supported file types and documents the Loop setting in its Media Sources guide. Interface labels can differ between OBS releases.
- Prepare an encoder stream in YouTube Studio. Open Live Control Room and create or prepare a stream using the encoder flow. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown by YouTube into OBS’s streaming settings. The key lets an encoder send a feed to your channel; treat it like a password and do not share it.
- Send the feed and check the preview. Start streaming from OBS. Wait for the Live Control Room preview to appear and check that the video and commentary audio are both present. For a scheduled stream, use the go-live control in Live Control Room when it is available in the flow. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions cover the URL/key and preview sequence.
- Check the viewer experience. Confirm the watch page is accessible to the intended audience, including on a phone if relevant. Monitor audio and video during the broadcast; YouTube’s live-streaming tips recommend checking stream quality and access.
- End the broadcast deliberately. Follow the end-stream controls in Live Control Room and stop sending from OBS according to the flow shown in Studio. If you need a saved replay, plan for YouTube’s archive behavior: streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, according to its encoder guidance.
Settings and reliability limits to check
Stream key and connection
Use the stream URL and key supplied for the intended YouTube stream, and keep the key private. If the preview does not appear, check that OBS is sending to the correct URL with the corresponding key, then verify the encoder connection status in Live Control Room. The cited YouTube instructions do not establish one universal bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, or computer specification for every file and network, so do not assume a single preset is right for all setups.

File, audio, and loop behavior
Test the actual VOD before scheduling a long broadcast. Watch the transition from the end of the file back to its beginning, and listen for clipped commentary, silence, or unexpected audio at the seam. Confirm that the selected file is the intended version and that OBS continues to play it when the scene is active. The OBS documentation establishes file playback and looping; it does not promise a universal 24/7 operating configuration.
Long broadcasts, archives, and DVR
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. DVR lets viewers pause, rewind, and resume, but it may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. If an uninterrupted long loop matters, account for the possibility that viewers will not have full DVR controls and that an archive may not be available as expected. Hindi commentary, copyright, and monetization
The documented file-loop and encoder steps are language-neutral, so Hindi commentary does not change how OBS repeats the VOD or how YouTube receives the feed. The cited platform guidance does not establish special Hindi metadata, language settings, or discovery treatment for this workflow.
Copyright can interrupt a technically correct stream
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, including another copyrighted live broadcast. A placeholder can replace a stream after a match, and continued use can lead to interruption or termination. If you have a license, the rights owner may still need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Review YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance before broadcasting.

Gameplay rights and repeated-content monetization
Whether game footage can be monetized depends on the publisher’s commercial-use terms. YouTube says gameplay may be eligible when commentary is step-by-step, tied to the action, and provides instructional or educational value; extended gameplay alone may not qualify. Separately, its monetization policies identify repetitive or mass-produced material as inauthentic content and assess reused content for significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. Repeating a VOD on a live loop can create monetization risk, but the policy does not say every loop is automatically demonetized. Consider the full channel and current policy, not only whether you can technically stream the file. Common problems and fixes
- No preview in Live Control Room: Check that OBS is connected to the correct YouTube stream URL and key, and that it is actively sending. Confirm the stream is prepared in the intended Live Control Room session.
- Video plays once and stops: Reopen the Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled for the selected file.
- Video appears but commentary is missing or wrong: Play the file locally and inspect its audio, then verify OBS is using the intended Media Source and that the source is not muted.
- Broadcast is interrupted after starting: Check Live Control Room notifications for a third-party-content match. Resolve the rights issue; where material is licensed, ask the rights owner whether Content ID allowlisting is required.
- Viewers cannot rewind a very long stream: DVR controls may be limited or unavailable for streams over 12 hours. This is a YouTube duration limitation, not an OBS loop setting.
- The replay is missing or incomplete: Check the stream duration and YouTube’s archive guidance; automatic archiving is documented for streams under 12 hours.
